RE: Chapter Three (B): Eric & Alice - Akirapryde - 03-05-2016 Major Tetsuhara listened carefully to what Erik said. Once Erik was finished he reached over and picked up a phone and dialed three numbers. He spoke shortly in Japanese. While Erik nor Alice could understand what was being said, they were able to pick up names. What was being said was clearly linked to what Erik said. After a short moment, he hung up the phone. “So let me ask you this. You would tell us this why, Steiner?” He said in German. There was a measure of disbelief in his voice as well as truth, “You are a member of the royal court of the Lyran Alliance. You bare the signet ring of the royal family. You will forgive my untrusting questions. Your family has made life for those within my family rather harsh. I can’t imagine a reason why after recent events one of you would become so forthcoming. Especially after their open support of Victor over your current leader.” RE: Chapter Three (B): Eric & Alice - aipsylon - 03-05-2016 Erik listened to the man as well as taking note of which numbers he's dialed, more by habit than anything. Likely outside the ship it would be meaningless to him. He knew that it had something to o with what he had said, but it could be a simply progress report as to what had happened thus far. "I would tell you this because it is a piece of information that I have, the proof of which I have none since the incident that resulted in my arrival here has seemed to destroy all of it. The source of the proof is valid, and I am grateful for being rescued, and it seems only right to me that I give those that saved my life a place to look where they will find something." RE: Chapter Three (B): Eric & Alice - Akirapryde - 03-06-2016 It was a clever thing for Erik to take note of the thre e numbers that were dialed. They were 103. Erik knew that they were on the first Deck of the dropship. He knew that the to they were in had a sign on it with the numbers 08. He couldn't read the Japanese symbols, but the numbers were clear. A glance at the phone revealed a three digit number under the number pad. It was 108. This information told Erik that who ever was called was on this deck and not far away. Possibly down the hall. He also noticed that the phone didn't have a manual plunger to hang the phone up. This meant that it might be possible to hack the phone from somewhere else and listen in to what is going on in a given room. Major Tetsuhara leaned back in his chair, "you will forgive me Stiener, but trust is not something that has been very forthcoming from your family." He leaned forward, "there is no secret in our support of Victor over his insane sister. So yes I find your information intriguing. I have some basic questions for you." He motioned to Erik's ring, "tell me what is your relationship to the throne? Do you or your friends have any connection to New Earth's Intelligence or their Pathfinders?" There was something in how he asked that last question that got Erik's attention. Something that the Major didn't mean to let slip. Erik knew Lryan history better than most. New Earth was hardly worth mentioning let alone of any reasonable influence. In what the Major allowed to slip, gave Erik much to think about. RE: Chapter Three (B): Eric & Alice - aipsylon - 03-06-2016 "The beauty of what I gave you, is that it is something to focus your attentions on, not much, but come that time's approach a little extra investigation, if it turns up something, excellent, if not well then you have lost a little manpower for a short duration. As for my relation, it is fairly distant, My father's holdings a barony by deed more than birth. It is his ring I wear. As for me, I think that I have been quite well erase from the books, a very detailed search might find memory of me, but beyond that I doubt you'll find anything at all. New Earth, he shook his head. No, we have no connection to new earth." His answers to each question formed together one after the other succinctly and straight forward with each response. He took note of the vulnerability in security as well as the Major's relaxed posturing, his own posture adjusting to match his, casual ease was what this situation called for. RE: Chapter Three (B): Eric & Alice - Akirapryde - 03-06-2016 Major Tetsuhara leaned back once more in his chair and listened carefully. While there was some bit of ease in his demeanor, there was still a clear hint of distrust. He changed his tone slightly, "Do you know why Kimiko is so important to me?" He said choosing his words carefully. "She is my granddaughter." "You dismiss family ties and from your way of looking at it I can understand." He paused a moment before continuing, "let me tell you about family bonds and how they are important to me. You my friend are linked to me in ways I don't think you understand. My brothers Minubo and Yoshi both died giving their lives to the Combine. My wife died giving birth to my last daughter." He folded his arms and rested them on his torso, "you met her, Sho Sho Tatsuhara." He looked in to Erik's eyes, "I only have two daughters who paid for my mistakes long ago. Out of this my children rose from the ashes to become honorable and noble women. You must already know about my youngest daughter, the Sho Sho." "My oldest daughter is one of the most successful women in Lyran space. She, Kimiko's mother, married a great noble warrior and hero. Their success is what attracted the attention of your family. Your family had my son-in- law murdered like a dog. Your family had Kimiko's brothers murdered while they fought to protect the entire Inner Shpere. Kimiko, her mother and the Sho Sho is all the family I have left." His tone turned very serious, "so you are correct. I do have much to focus my attentions on. If your family, rather by birth or deed, want to run around and kill each other fine. But make no mistake I will protect the remainder of MY family till my last breath." He leaned forward and rested his hands on the table. "I will ask you this one time" he said holding a single finger. "And I advise you to not lie to me. Are here on a serect mission for Lyran Intelligence?" He watched Erik very closely for any sign of dishonesty. RE: Chapter Three (B): Eric & Alice - aipsylon - 03-06-2016 "Major I regret the deaths of your family at the hands of mine, but I am not my family, such games of intrigue are he reason that you found that ring in my pocket and not on my finger. I gave up my family in hopes of creating more unified families. The Star League is a good first step, it shows what we can do together, but one need only look to the past to see what will happen to it until it is needed again. I was on a mission, but it had nothing to do with this ship or Lyran intelligence." His voice was serious, edged with a bit of passion as he met the man to look him in the eye, a bit of a challenge as he said what he had given up, softening, but still looking at him as he continued, and even as he waited for the major to finish his line of questioning. RE: Chapter Three (B): Eric & Alice - Akirapryde - 03-06-2016 He smiled and nodded, "The Star League is our greatest hope for the future." As the man spoke, Erik found that it was very easy to read him. While he was very reserved in his mannerism, the Major didn't hide his emotions very well. "I knew that from the start the Star League's rebirth would bring about a great change in our combined future. And now that the Clan threat has been largely removed, thanks to Victor and the Star League Defense Force, we can finally start to address other threats to peace. Namely The Lyran Alliance and Katherine Steiner-Davion." He leaned back in his chair, "tell me something. If not for the Lyran Intelligence, why are you here. New Earth is not really Lyran friendly. I can't imagine you are vacationing." RE: Chapter Three (B): Eric & Alice - aipsylon - 03-06-2016 "No, as I said I was on a mission, just not for Lyran intelligence, and nothing to do with this ship." His words ha a bit of finality to them, as if he were not willing to reveal more than that. RE: Chapter Three (B): Eric & Alice - Akirapryde - 03-06-2016 Major Tetsuhara nodded accepting the final words from Erik. He slowly rose up from his chair, "if you will wait here, I have to speak with the Sho Sho and make sure she has no further questions for you before I send you back to the Medical Bay." he moved from the table and walked for the door. "Please wait here, till I return." RE: Chapter Three (B): Eric & Alice - aipsylon - 03-06-2016 Erik would remain seated, though he did turn so that the door was in his view. Best leave things off here on a good note, after all while there was a lot of information to be gained a solid exit strategy was a key component to any mission, without one he'd simply sit and wait, learning where information might be available to him when he chose to pursue it. |
