She smiled and slowly pulled the blade from Jaden's neck, "not so foolish as I would have suspected." She carefully placed the small knife back in her sleeve. "Antnolu's boyfriend decided that his life was worth more than Antolu's heart."
She turned her back to him and walked back over to the chair as she continued, "Now that you know where we both stand," she slowly took her seat. "You will need to make sure that you remember this moment. For if you betray my daughter, I will have you killed."

Jaden had to repress a snort at that. "If I betray your daughter you will have to get in line behind her.Im sure she'd introduce me to her twin blades and sheathe them before I knew she ended my life. But know that I am not going to betray her," he said honestly. He had just one question to ask. "Your threat to convince the Crones that your world should join the OPA was a bluff wasn't it?"

She smiled at his question, "it was a lie, I have already lobbied for this household. Despite the mistrust that we hold over the Republic, the OPA offers something much more dangerous to us. Their religious views contradict our own at the very core. We don't support your views of the Force, but your views don't directly contradict our own." She reached over and picked up a drink and took a small sip, "You, the children races, wish to confuse the truth of the Goddesses. We hope that one day you will all wake up from your misunderstandings. This is the core of who we are. Live your life, explore, taste the fruits of other worlds." She smiled as she said, "or of other races. In old age, we know that you will see the right path and decide to take it."
She took a deep breath, "the OPA's vision is not like that. All other views and religions are wrong on their face. We can not tolerate that. So the Crones, all of them will meet later this month and cast their votes based on the voices of the mothers of households across our world."

Jaden listened to her views on her people's beliefs and her words about the OPA. "Who else stands with House Shiloh on resisting joining the OPA?"

She frowned as she slowly rose from her chair. She picked up her glass and walked over to Jaden. "Such serious talk for such a lovely gentle boy," she said running her hand under his chin. "Your cute, for a child" she said softly as she moved passed him and over to the drink cart. "I will humor you," she said then added, "sit boy. You look foolish just standing there."
She didn't look back at him as she slowly placed ice in her glass. "The vote will be tight. There is not much love for the Republic, or your Jedi here on this world," she filled up her glass. "You would be hard pressed to find anyone on this world that has deep routed respect for your order. During the Force Wars, our people were targeted by the Jedi and the Republic because some of us sided with the Sith," she turned and started back for her seat "Don't get me wrong, Trysta will suffer the fate of a pariah because of you. But it is her right to make that choice." She turned and slowly set back down, "it is not so much you being a human that will cause this. It is more that you are a Jedi."
She motioned out the window, "many households such as my own has a statue to Sith that have become icons of the household. Ours is Keryth Shiloh. During the Great Force Wars, she betrayed the Jedi to fight along side her people. For that, they captured her after the war and murdered her."
She took a sip of her drink, "so you understand why the vote will be close. Side against our long time hated enemy or side against a new religious rival. I insisted that we once more remained neutral and allow our Maidens to choose their own path."

Jaden took his seat again and drank from his beverage as he heard her words. He nodded his head in understanding once she was finished speaking. "Many Outer-Rim worlds hold no love for the Jedi and the Republic. I can definitely understand why your people hold no love after what the Jedi had done to them, but rather than be given the choice to follow their own paths the choice will be taken away from the Maidens. Think about it. Graf used Olivan as a starting point and a source of disposable pawns. Once he was done there he moved on to Baklid which provided him with shipyards to build his navy. Then Bargess IV was taken without a shot fired. I believe all that was done was to build loyalty to him and now he has soldiers that have closely trained with Republic soldiers and know our playbook. Fray would have given him an over abundance of fuel for his ships, but at least for now it is not his. Which brings us to your world," he said while looking around and taking in the beauty that surrounded them.
"Your world would have given him a very effective force of femme fatales that; if they're anything like Trysta, could get in and out of places silently and inflict maximum casualties. There wouldn't be any choice to go your own path. There would only be that absolute. And your people's belief in the Goddesses would be considered heresy that would be stomped out. Im not here to barter for you to side with the Republic. I'm no negotiator. That takes a more patient man than I. However, should your people vote to remain neutral I will do my best to make sure that it is honored."

she listened carefully to what Jaden said as she sipped her drink. "I will say, you are just so cute, for a child," she said softly. "You say you are not here to barter for the Republic and yet you are doing just that. Not joining the OPA or siding with the Republic benefits the Republic either way." She laughed, "a male's brain is just not developed enough to understand such complex galactic political situations. Our males have hundreds of years to learn from and even then, they can't comprehend the vast possible consequences of such important decisions. And here you are, so young. So naive." She giggled in delight, "it's just so cute. Let me save you a lot of disappointment. Outside of this house, your opinions will not be so humored. Even Trysta understands that at her age, her opiniois still that of a child."
She set her glass down, "no, I am sure that the Crones will not join the OPA. And while you pledged to protect our neutrality, that is not necessary. We are more than capable of tending to that ourselves."
She leaned forward in her chair and looked deep in to Jaden's eyes. "In truth, maybe, for my daughter's sake, I should extend the protection of the House to you, child."

She slowly leaned back in her chair once more, "you have several strikes against you. Your young, your a male, your a Jedi." she paused a moment to let him consider what she said. "Someone like you could easily go missing for anyone of of those reasons. Without the protection of a Household, you are left to the whims of who ever wants you bad enough."
She leaned to the left and rested her head on her left hand, "Did Trysta tell you how we have very few laws on our world. I could kill you where you stand and nothing would come of it. Our laws are very simple. Each house is responsible for the actions of the children and maidens within it. What ever Trysta does, is our responsibility to correct. You would just be laid to rest and that would be the end of it. Protection comes from the Households which grants their protection accordingly. For you, you have no such protection. If someone should desire to kill you, there would be nothing that could be done about it. Protection of Shiloh means that if someone were to want to harm you, they would face the entire Household. While we are not the largest of the Households, we do carry considerable influence."

Jaden nodded in acquiescence. "Perhaps it is wise then to accept your protection for the time we are on world. Even I'm not that foolish to think I can hold my own against several highly trained warriors," he said.
