Quiet Serenade in Cargo hold # 3 - Duncan_Starchaser - 07-10-2017
Duncan had stayed out of everyone’s way since they had left the Vengeance. It wasn’t so much that he was being anti-social, but whenever this time of year arrived he always needed time to reflect and remember. He had his flute with him as he sat cross-legged in the third cargo hold behind some boxes and played a very soft tune (it’s something somber, but it’s low enough that some might not hear it unless they were really trying to). On the floor in front of him was the small holo-device with the image of the one he was playing for. He didn’t see the blue image, instead he saw the flesh and blood human female with auburn hair that he had known.

He and Kira had met back when he first arrived on Coruscant, they were part of the same class. She was a headstrong and confident even as a Padawan, with a strong sense of loyalty towards her friends and allies. Behind this confident front, she hid fear and a near-desperate desire to prove herself. She was also mildly claustrophobic, and she masked her fear behind a quick tongue and sharp wit.
She had been the love of his life, it was as if they were two halves of the same soul and he missed her deeply. Even though he knew that he shouldn’t. His training said that he shouldn’t miss her, shouldn’t morn her. Death was a natural part of life. He should be rejoicing for her that she was now part of the Force. Which is why he always did this, played the song she loved so much even though he couldn’t stand it. Or at least that’s what he tried to make himself believe.

The doors opened as Ashla quickly darts inside. Thinking that maybe this might be a good place to hide. Though much to hear disappointment it was not. Hearing the sound of a flute being played. She knew only one person so far that played it. She didn't have time to look for her master who was out of site. If he was meditating it probably be best not to hide here. She slowly move back trying her best not to make any nosie as she turned and leave the room. Hoping to not to run into Unna in the hall as she headed to the cockpit. Wondering if there's any places she could hide in there.

Duncan being so focused on what he was playing didn't notice when Ashla entered. Nor did he notice her departure. He just played on.

Unna burst into the cargo hold to see Duncan playing a flute. She wasn't very quiet about it. She stopped in her tracks and quietly stared for a few moments to see whether or not she had disturbed him.

Duncan was nearly in his own world, unless someone knocked something over nearby or went up to him he would not notice their presence. The emotional crescendo rising as he played and approached the part that Kira always said made her cry. (rolled a 15 on willpower to see if he would stop. But just in case rolled a spot = 1)

Unna quietly backed out of the hold and closed the door behind her. She walked for a few steps before taking off running.

After while of exploring the ship ashla found her way back to the cargo bay. Opening the door she quitely goes inside remebering eariler her master had been mediating. Shutting the door ashla walked over going to join Duncan.

He didn't know how long she was there. But as he finished the song he opened his eyes and there she was. "Oh Ashla I hope you weren't waiting long for me. I tend to lose myself in the music." he said as he reached over and turned the hologram off. He still had the flute in his hands however.

Ashla had seen the hologram before Ducan turned it off. " No, i was wondering if I may join you in your meditation Master. If you're busy, i could come back another time Master. " she motioned towards the hologram. She didn't mean to interrupt anything, he might had been doing.

Duncan smiled. "Oh I wasn't meditating... at least not really. I was remembering someone very close that died a few years ago." he told Ashla. "But I guess I do tend to lose myself when I'm playing." he added and then played a little bit for his padawan.
