Bram Neumann grew up on the USS Odyssey where his parents both worked for Starfleet. His father was an engineer and his mother taught science aboard the ship. Bram acquired a strong work ethic from his father and an appreciation for science and math from his mother. While not extraordinary, he excelled in his classes and was considered quite capable, both mentally and physically.

At the age of 16, Bram and his two younger siblings (Harvey Neumann, Born 2358; Sharla Neumann, Born 2362), along with other civilians, were offloaded to Deep Space 9 before the USS Odyssey proceeded as ordered to the Gamma Quadrant. His parents remained on the ship for the operation and were killed when the USS Odyssey was destroyed by the Dominion in 2370.

Bram lived on DS9 until he entered the Starfleet Academy in 2372. He graduated as a helmsman and began a cadet cruise aboard the USS Tian An Men where he gained much of his experience.

Bram was then assigned to the USS Thunderchild one month prior to her refit being completed. He serves as the Helm Officer on first shift and took part in the Battle of DS9 in 2377.
