When it Rains.......
It was a long day and yet again Rebecca felt completely helpless to change what was going on. She walked outside of the hollow and saw the messages on her phone. She set down on the front steps of the hollow as she read through them. She had missed a two show dates without any warning. Rebecca let out a deep sigh of frustrations. Missing the time was nearly as big of a deal as missing shows. There was so much going on due to this time jump that Rebecca just didn’t know how to handle it. She checked her watch, it was late but she didn’t have choice.

She dialed their agent’s number then hung up before the call went through. She dialed Te'lrara instead. She waited for the call to go through as she pushed her foot through the dirt around the steps of the hollow. When Te’lrara answered, Rebecca didn’t look up from dirty. “Good evening Te’lrara” Rebecca said in to the phone. “I am sorry. I know it’s late but I need to chat with you” Rebecca said softly.

“Something sounds wrong Rebecca. Is everything alright?” Te’lrara said over the phone.

Rebecca no longer thinking of it just being a phone call shook her head, “No….no it’s not. Simon is dead, and Razor and his cabal had been captured and now being held in some magical prison. It’s been such a long day for me, well ok maybe, I think, God it’s been eight days for everyone else.” Rebecca sighed deeply as she paused, “How does Mages deal with time jumps like this?”

It was clear that Te’lrara was no less clear of what was going on, “Rebecca why don’t you come in tomorrow and explain what happened.”

“But eight days?” Rebecca said with the sound of frustration in her voice.

“Rebecca, don’t make too much out of this.” Te’lrara spoke softly in an attempt to reassure Rebecca. “This is not completely out of the ordinary. This can be fixed. We will talk about this tomorrow.”

Rebecca just seemed overwhelmed, “bu…….”

“Rebecca” Te’lrara said bringing Rebecca’s statement to an end. Te’lrara had dealt with new mages. Rebecca was no different than those new mages. Rebecca had only been fully engulfed in the mage society for just a few weeks. “Listen, it’s late and I know you have a lot to talk about. But this is not how things are done. We will talk tomorrow morning. The best advice I can give you is get some rest and we will talk in the morning.”

“Bu….” Rebecca tried once more.

“In the morning Rebecca” Te’lrara insisted.

With a sigh of defeat Rebecca, “okay. Tomorrow morning.”

“Good night Rebecca,” Te’lrara said softly.

Pushing dirt with her foot and with her other hand she ran her hand through her hair. “Okay, good night.” Rebecca listened to the line to go dead as she held her phone to her ear. She pulled it down to her chin as everything went through her head. For a number of times, Kira had gone back in time and Rebecca never thought twice about it. But this time, Rebecca felt kind of cheated as she had missed out on days of her life. Time travel really had its painful prices that has to be paid. So many commitments had been missed and she felt responsible because of it.

In that moment Rebecca’s head snapped up as she gazed towards the lake. “Gosh dang it!” Rebecca said as she got up and set her phone on a table that was on the front patio. She then turned and rushed towards the lake. Rebecca dropped down to her knees as she slid to a stop. “dang it…….dang it…..” she said as she reached up towards the sky and felt the magic surge through her. The clear sky started to cloud as Rebecca reached in to the sky with her magic. She could feel the magic flowing up through her body and in to her arms. Her fingers shifted and spread reaching high in to the clouds as she started to chant in Atlantean.

Rebecca closed her eyes as she let go of her normal eye sight and solely relied on the feel of the magic around her. Rebecca reached higher in to the sky through her magic. Within moments a rain drop landed on her face. Within moments, the sky was filled with rain. Rebecca knew that she was behind in what she had agreed upon so she made sure that the rain was good steady. As the rain fell around her, she heard a muffled voice coming from her pocket. Rebecca reached in to her pocket and pulled out her magical Bluetooth.

“You are late with the rain” the lake spirit said. “You violated your agreement with me” the spirit added.

Normally the spirit’s voice was steady and measured. However Rebecca could tell that she was frustrated. She couldn’t see the spirit but Rebecca knew about where the spirit was. She turned to face the general direct of where she thought the spirit was and nodded with humility. “I know” Rebecca said with a nod, “It wasn’t by intention. We were……” Rebecca attempted to explain but was cut off.

“We had an agreement and you broke your word” the spirit said.

It was hard for Rebecca to communicate like this without being able to see who she was talking to. She couldn’t see the spirit or gauge the body language of the spirit. However there were other signs that Rebecca was able to draw from. The waters around the edge of the shore were turbulent as if the lake its self was angry. It was troubling for her to see the lake like this. Every morning she could, Rebecca would spend her morning speaking to the lake as if she was talking to an old friend. Now her friend was angry with her and she understood why the spirit was angry. But if she could only explain….

It was clear to Rebecca that the spirit was unwilling to listen to any scope of reason. The situation for the spirit was simple. What choice did Rebecca have? She only nodded, “I will continue to make it rain. But there will be times that I must be called away.” Rebecca attempted to explain. The rain water washed down her face as she slowly started to stand up. The rain had already soaked Rebecca to the bone as she found her footing. The water made streams down her face as she spoke. “I know I missed eight days. I hope you will forgive the lapse.” On that note, Rebecca turned to walk away. She paused and looked over her shoulder, “I know you are upset with me. I am sorry that you feel this way because I see you as a good friend. A friend who has always been there for me when I needed it.”
