(Admin Stuff: This is an Open In Between for all party members! What does that mean? Anyone can post their questions here and Jedi Knight Demaya will answer those questions. For the newest of our members, you don't have to form your question in story line RP like I have. But it will look good. Remember you can ask as many questions as you wish. I will post the closure to this In-Between Wednesday Night.)
Ignite the First of the Fires
In Proximity of Olivan
Jedi Cruiser Vengeance
Date: 2919 AOK (Six Months after Auro’s Birthday)
Player Characters Involved: The Entire Party!
The trip to the Vengeance was nothing out of the ordinary for the party. However, for the two newest members of the party, a ride aboard a Republic Assault Shuttle was less than ideal. The shuttle was designed for combat, not comfort. The seats were made of thick canvas and netting. Every vibration of the engines was felt. But it was the four body bags near the back of the ship that told the new members that they were heading in to harm’s way. It was a very serene moment as the shuttle made its way up to the Vengeance.
Upon arrive, the vast hanger bay was truly a technological marvel to behold. With nearly four hundred fighters and dozens of other craft, it was a tech’s dream. Some of the Republic’s most advanced weapons of war were on display for everyone to see. Normally this view would be reserved for military or Jedi Personal. However, for two very lucky civilians, Lord Sembla felt that the need for trust outweighed any security concerns. He authorized their boarding of the Vengeance.
During their trip to the bridge, the group passed the party’s other ship. The Republic Consular-class cruiser, hung in the internal docking bay of the Vengeance. Across its haul painted with pride was the world ‘Saberjowl’. The party continued to make its way towards the bridge of the mighty Vengeance. As they continued, it became clear that this was nothing less than a ship for war. Much like the Assault Shuttle, there was hardly any evidence of comfort. Everything was gray and drab.
The Bridge of the Vengeance was nothing less than what was expected. Republic Naval Officers lined the twin pits conducting their given tasks. Other personal were at other stations, but was the Officer on the middle walkway that caught everyone’s eyes. She turned to face the party once they entered the bridge. Her hair was in prefect military fashion, even if it wasn’t quite the right colors. Her hair was red with silver highlights. She wore a Republic Naval uniform, with bracers on her wrists. A large double bladed lightsaber hung from her hip.
She gave Auro a look then shrugged it off, “Welcome back Lord Sembla,” she said. It was clear by the woman's appearance that this was Jedi Knight Kali Demaya. The commander of the ship and of the 2nd Battalion. Auro made sure to brief the new members as to who this woman was.“As you request, I have established what we could expect from Jedi Master Benedikt Milani.”
She paused for a moment then changed her mind, “Master Milani is a Zabrak Master who currently sits upon the Grand Council. She is considered a very orthodox who rigidly follows the teachings of Odan-Urr. Jedi and follower of She is not someone to be underestimated. She has commanded the Twenty Seventh Strike Division for nearly a decade. Putting down violent protests and uprisings is her specialty.”
She motioned the group over to a nearby holo-table, “The Twenty Seventh consists of four Venator-class Star Destroyers, two Arquitens-class light cruisers, two Acclamator-class assault ships.” As she spoke, the images of the three different ship classes appeared hovering over the holo-table. “Our initial reports did not include the two Arquitens, as they were on Sembla undergoing routine maintenance. However, a report from Sembla has both of the Twenty Seventh’s Arquitens departing Sembla fifteen hours ago. That would give them more than enough time to reach here and link up with the rest of the Twenty Seventh.”
“This Strike Division is heavily armed with over forty thousand troopers within their ranks. Most of them are veterans of several engagements much like their mission here on Olivan. They come with heavily armor, artillery, and a vest array of speeders. The division boasts over fifteen hundred assorted fighters. On top of the hundreds of assault shuttles and support craft. You can count that Master Milani will use her crafts to control and dominate.”
“Here is what you can expect from Master Milani. Most likely. Up to thirty hours ago, her advanced units already arrived on Olivan. I would estimate that these advanced units would be between thirty to a hundred ARC Troopers strong. Their mission would be to collect information on enemy strong holds, defensive lines. They will scout out possible landing zones and locate high priority targets. These units will remain hidden until such a time that Master Milani activates them.”
She switched the image on the holo-table to that of the Capital City of Olivan. “Then they will switch from gathering information to conducting surgical strikes against defensive targets.” She highlighted a group of heavy weapon emplacements. “Take these three Heavy Ion Cannons. These would be a prime target for them.” She changed the image to the makeshift airfield at the Jedi Temple on Olivan, “this would be another prime target for them.” She looked up to the group and scanned their eyes as she spoke, “command, communication and control sites will also be a prime target. In short, they will provide critical chaos as Master Milani conducts her landings.”
She changed the image to the Jedi Temple on Olivan, “thanks to our Starchaser Brothers, we know that the temple, named Château de Chantilly after the Jedi who founded it, has been prepared for combat. This is very troubling because this means that there will be little room for negotiation. With that in mind, if I were Master Milani, I would land my forces to the south of the Temple and well clear of the Capital. That would mean I would only have to pass through a small town to reach the Temple. This would allow me to conserve my forces while focusing on the Temple and the primary goal of Master Milani”
“We have been monitoring intercepted messages between Master Milani and the Grand Council back on Coruscant. Per these messages, it would appear that there are a number of Loyal Jedi that are being held within the Temple. Master Milani’s orders include freeing these Jedi. In short, her orders are to liberate the Jedi Temple here on Olivan, and capture the rouge Jedi who have seized the temple. From the Jedi’s perspective, the Temple has been seized by hostile forces. The presence of darksiders at the Temple right now will only reinforce that idea.”
She pulled the image back to show the entire world of Olivan. “Because of this, I suspect that Master Milani will not hold back. She will enter system ready for combat. You can count that these advanced units will take part in sabotages during the opening hours of the battle. There will be lots of confusion during this time. Confusion that Master Milani would use to claim space and air superiority as soon as she arrives in system.”
She highlighted a pair of space stations, “I would suspect that these two stations would be her first targets. This will prevent the defenders from flanking her during her landings. I don’t suspect that Master Milani would use orbital bombardment at any point during this operation as long as victory appears possible. Based on what we know, defeat for the Twenty Seventh doesn’t seem likely. However, if Master Milani orders a march on the Capital then things could turn a lot worse. Master Milani’s orders do not include anything regarding the Capital or the citizens of Olivan.”
She paused a moment while she scanned the images. After a moment, she looked up, “okay any questions?”
