Exploring the New 12/13/2021
Hadaza — 12/13/2021
(OOC w/ @TheTraveler - Hadaza is leaving the medlab to explore her new surroundings)

She wakes with a shudder and a gasp; the nightmares still hanging heavy on her.  Frantically, she looks around for the horrors of her trauma-damaged mind or the source of that cryptic message from earlier. Finding herself alone, with the exception of a lone droid, she rises from her bed.

Where am I?, she thinks. And where is everyone else?

She pats her hands down her torso, testing the location of the wound. The blood she expected to see on her hands and clothes isn't there. Her stomach is tender, though finally healed enough for her to be up and around. Good. Now to get some answers.

But she can't go out in whatever they have in her right now, which isn't much. Something that at least closes in the back would be prudent

A search reveals a pair of med scrubs in a drawer. She dresses quietly; the droid looking on quizzically but not saying anything. Damn thing has probably already reported me to the nurses station. I need to get out of here before someone comes in to interrogate me again. Or worse, that nurse comes back in. What was up with her anyway?

There isn't time to think about either of those things, or of what that man said to her about being "infested". Besides, of all the things that have happened to her in recent memory - she snickers, my only memories, she thinks wryly -  she's not sure what is more distressing to her right now. What's most important is investigating her situation ... and herself, if she can.

As she dresses, she rolls the name they gave her around in her head. Hadaza. Hadaza. No, I don't feel like a Hadaza. But if they insist, then let it be "Haj"

Backside covered, feet bare, head on a swivel, Haj skulks out of her room to learn what she can about this ship and her compliment.

@Durro Thel-Tanis

An urgent comlink message is placed to Master Thel-Tanis within seconds of arriving at Commander Wu Din's office. The message reads, 'our patient has awoken and is preparing to venture out on her own. We can sedate her once more, but it is my recommendation that she is dealt with by a person she partly knowns. Will you come at once to help us?'

As Hadaza skulks from her medical room, she heard a voice, "good morning Hadaza," a tall Mon Calamari doctor said. "Did you rest well?"

@Hadaza
Hadaza — 12/13/2021
Haj pulls up short at the sound of the sobriquet. "dammit", she swears lightly under her breath.

She turns slowly to face the source of the greeting. The sight before her is startling, but somehow not unfamiliar.  At least it isn't that nurse. She says a silent prayer for small favors.

Without making any move toward either the doctor or the door to her room, she replies softly. "I did; thank you. And thank you for the assist. What can you tell me about my injuries?"

@TheTraveler
Durro Thel-Tanis — 12/13/2021
Durro quickly replies to the message;
[ Of course, I'll be there momentarily. ]
He prepares to leave, first informing the Professor and Commander that he is needed elsewhere.
TheTraveler — 12/13/2021
@Hadaza @Durro Thel-Tanis
The Mon Calamari shifted her eyes as she scanned the Zabrak famele. Her two eyes moving independently of each other. "You suffered server trauma to your head, we suspect due to lack of oxygen in your blood supply. You were without oxygen for nearly twenty minutes before it was restored."

She motioned to Hadaza's belly, "that was in the simplest yet comes with the most mystery. A three centimeter hole was bored through you. Flesh, tissue and bone, all precisely three centimeters without deviation"
Hadaza — 12/13/2021
Haj is stunned. Her mind reels at the news; jaw dropping involuntarily.20 minutes?! Why am I not dead? I don't remember passing out. How did I lose so much time? And what happened while I was out?!

Recovering herself, she processes the next bit of information. "You said a 3cm hole. That's not very big. Could it have come from a blaster?" And if it did, who the ruddy he!! shot me? And when? She leaves this unspoken.

A realization dawns on Haj's face,; her quick mind catching up with the reality of her situation. "Wait! You said "bored" through me? Was the wound cauterized? I couldn't have been or it wouldn't have been bleeding.  What could have caused something like that to occur?"

She's almost talking to herself, trying suss it out as the words trickle from her brain through her mouth and back to her brain.  Her first thought is that one of those ...  things ... stabbed her.

Great seething gods of darkness! What if that Durro guy was right after all? She slumps, resting her hands on her knees and trying to catch both her breath and her thoughts as both run away from her once more.

A whispered fragment of her nightmares return to her. this time in the nurse's raspy voice. "Those who suffer emotion ...". She straightens, determined to master herself and not let her panic drive her to another desperate act.

"What else can you tell me?"

@TheTraveler @Durro Thel-Tanis
TheTraveler — 12/13/2021
@Hadaza @Durro Thel-Tanis

The female doctor tilted her head to the side, "you say 3cm is not very big." She held up her large thumb, "it is slightly larger than my finger here. It passed through the armor plating of your suite, through your stomach, intestines, and through part of your spine."

"In all my years of studying medicine, I have not seen such a wound. Most wounds of the like from slug throwers rip through the flesh. This did not. It bored through you more like a drill. But even in that description, it is wrong. The holes that were compared on your armor plating and those from your spine are perfectly identical in size and angle."

"During your first round of surgery, we were able to take a thin rod and pass it easily through your body and out the other side."

"Your suite was quite the life savior. If not for its advanced medical systems you would not have survived your wound." She pondered for a moment, "I suppose there could be an argument made that you didn't survive the wound. We have yet to identify why you lost so much oxygen, though the evidence is quite clear that you did. And for an extended period of time."
Hadaza — 12/13/2021
@TheTraveler @Durro Thel-Tanis

"Its not the suit that was the life saver. Someone taped it. I assume that they did so after the injury."

She takes a few minutes to put those pieces together. "If the trauma occurred while I was still conscious, would the loss of protection from the suit have sped up the oxygen deprivation?", she asks. "That would make it seem like I was without oxygen for longer than I really was, correct?"

She drops her eyes to the Mon Calamari's uniform and starts to speak quietly again, "Though I suppose it doesn't really matter, does it. The damage is done. How it happened is secondary to what do we do now."

Haj raises her face to look the doctor in the eye. "What are the long term effects of both the abdominal injury and the 20 minutes without oxygen? What can I expect moving forward?"

She whispers the next part so softly the doctor almost can't hear her. "And did you find anything else during the scans?"
Durro Thel-Tanis — 12/13/2021
(((I will await @TheTraveler's word on when Durro arrives)))
TheTraveler — 12/13/2021
Her eyes continued to move up and down as she watched Hadaza, "we are going on the assumption that the oxygen deprivation was shorter, despite some evidence indicating a much longer period. The fact that you are still alive suggests that this shorter period is most likely the truth."

"The damage of the oxygen deprivation has been done. There are areas of your brain that were damaged beyond repair. We were able to rebuild these area without any long term effects on your cognitive abilities. Though there are questions about your long term memories or your ability to create new long term memories."

"As for the abdominal injury, this wound will heal nicely, and it is doubtful you will not even have a scare."

The Female Mon Calamari turns to see @Durro Thel-Tanis walking in to the large Medical Bay, "Master Thel-Tanis, thank you for joining us."
Hadaza — 12/13/2021
@Durro Thel-Tanis @TheTraveler

Haj looks over her shoulder to see the approaching man. This one ... he can't know. He already suspects that I am unstable,  though he has good reason, frankly. Whatever they found must stay between me and the medlab

She waits to say anything else until he joins the conversation
Durro Thel-Tanis — 12/13/2021
Durro nods at the Mon Calamari.
"Doctor."
Looking to Hadaza he says,
"Hadaza, good to see you up and about. Is there anything I can help you with?"
@TheTraveler
@Hadaza
TheTraveler — 12/13/2021
The Doctor nodded, "we were just discussing the injuries that Hadaza had suffered and her long term prognosis"

@Hadaza @Durro Thel-Tanis
Hadaza — 12/13/2021
Haj acknowledges Durro lightly. She knows that he doesn't trust her, not that she's given him any reason to. The question she has in her mind now is does she work to gain his trust, which may never come, or does she let that particular sleeping Rancor lie?

"Yes. You can help me with proper clothing and a ship. I need to get ..."

She stops. She was about to say "home", but she doesn't have the slightest idea where "home" is. Tears well in her eyes for only a moment before she corrects course. "I need to get answers. The doctor was kind enough to fill in some of them. Seems that there will be no long term effects from the physical perforation. But the holes in my memory will be permanent."

Haj turns back to the doc, resolved to get the answer to the last question. "Was there anything else on the scan that is relevant or consequential to my future?

It's a veiled question. She wants to ask outright if they found one of those things gestating in her body, or worse, in her mind. She wants to know if she's a time bomb that could be responsible for the death of hundreds, if not thousands, more. She wants to know if she should return to the derelict and share the fate of her team.  But she dare not ask the question outright, especially not with the man who already suspects her of just that standing right beside her.

She calls on the same strength and resolve that saw her through the last day to guide her through this latest minefield.

@TheTraveler @Durro Thel-Tanis
TheTraveler — 12/13/2021
She shook her head, "the over all prognosis for your long term healing is very good. As I said, your suite ensure that the blood loss and damage was contained."

She turned to Durro, "she is fit to walk around. I think this will do wonders for her mental state." Speaking with the bedside manners of a rock the Doctor continues, "this is what I am most considered about it." Turning back to Hadaza, "you need to feel safe and understand that the worse is behind you. But you must also not succumb to survivor's guilt. You are alive, and you will continue that way for a very long time. Be grateful in that."

Her voice took a more measured tone, "we don't know what the extend of the damage to your memory will be. It could come back tomorrow in its entirety, in bits or not at all. This we don't know. And you can't allow yourself to focus on that. Focus on what you have, your life."

She turned back to Durro, "if it won't trouble you Master Thel-Tanis, can you show her around the ship. Talk to her, let her know that she is safe now."

@Durro Thel-Tanis @Hadaza
Durro Thel-Tanis — 12/13/2021
"Thank you, Doctor." Durro says, clasping his hands and nodding. "Your medical expertise is appreciated."
To Hadaza, he extends an arm and says;
"Shall we? I happen to know these Venators rather well."
@TheTraveler
@Hadaza
Hadaza — 12/13/2021
Haj looks at the proffered arm a bit skeptically for a moment before shrugging, relenting, and allowing herself to take it.

"Thank you for looking in on me earlier Master Thel-Tanis", she says, mimicking the title she heard the doctor call him. "I apologize if my behaviour earlier was ... distressing. You see ...", she tapers off, not sure how to explain her thought process behind her reason for drinking ... whatever that was at the nurse's station.

((OOC: @Durro Thel-Tanis Nope, its all you now...))
Durro Thel-Tanis — 12/13/2021
Durro starts walking down the hall, careful to support Hadaza if needed but letting her walk herself.
"No explanations necessary, I should've had more tact when thinking through the tactical implications."
He glances her over and adds,
"You strike me as the military type; when you learned you may be a danger to others you elected to take your own life rather than be used by the bugs."
He smiles and continues,
"A noble gesture, but not necessary at this time."
@Hadaza
Hadaza — 12/13/2021
"If you think I have some military training, then you are the only one." She chuckles softly. "I haven't the slightest clue, with the exception of some recordings that I watched that would indicate that I was anything else, however. I'm relieved to know that it wasn't necessary. Those things ...."

She trails off, lost in the memories she does have, and shudders. "You called them "The Swarm". Are they indigenous to only this part of the galaxy? If I had to guess, based on your team's reaction to them, that they are not. But, then, I'm not in a position to make those sorts of guesses."

With Durro as her guide, she allows her eyes rove over everything as they walk, drinking it all in. She notices every doorway and hall, trying desperately not to make the same mistakes she made on the derelict now that she has the peace to actually pay attention.

"The young man who was hurt, who was in the medbay with me - is this his vessel? The woman who was with him, his wife? Please don't tell me that they have children on this mission. And what of the others? I know I heard multiple voices on the commlinks."

@Durro Thel-Tanis
Durro Thel-Tanis — 12/13/2021
"It's only a guess, based on my observations, limited as they are."

"The Swarm are... unknown to us. Professor Kenobi knows more about them than I do; he's studied them for years. From what he told me it seems they resurface every few thousand years and destroy a large percentage of life in the galaxy. We're still unsure what awakens them, makes them decide it's time to feast. Though it seems our time as a galactic culture is running out. Where they come from, I'm not sure. I have my guesses, but again I'm working with limited information."

"This ship isn't privately owned." Durro says with a suppressed laugh and a warm smile. "Certainly not by Ryan. This is a military vessel; a large carrier/cruiser." He looks around the deserted hallways and adds, "Though I'm used to them being more... lively. This one seems to be operating with a skeleton crew. I wonder why..."
Returning his attention to Hadaza he asks;
"Are you hungry? You must be, after having nothing but hospital food. I thought I'd start your tour at the mess hall."
@Hadaza
Hadaza — 12/14/2021
Haj notices that Durro has deftly dodged her question about the other voices that she heard over the open mic. She does note, however, his concern over the lack of crew aboard this cruiser.  Military? What are they doing here? There's a suspicious and skeptical feeling in her gut that she can't quite put her finger on. She keeps such notions to herself, however. They have already seen too much from her. And they are not giving anything in return. This man's reticence to be open with her drive that point home as she hears him befog the subject as skilled as any consul. Perhaps his title of Master is justified. If so, she should be concerned that they have sent him to deal with her. She can feel something inside herself prickle as she thinks these things, like its searching for answers to questions she doesn't know how to ask.

Haj's stomach rumbles at the mention of food. She laughs lightly as she says, "Truthfully, I don't know the last time I ate. I have been inside that suit for as long as I can remember. And I haven't been conscious long enough since I've been here to have actually put solid food in my system. That ...", she puts her hand over her midsection, " and a 3cm hole bored through your torso doesn't really allow for food to stay in your system even in you ingest it." She adds quietly, "The doctor said it went all the way through. I shouldn't be here." With a cheerfulness that is clearly forced, she declares decisively, "YES! Let's get's something to eat! I feel like celebrating!"

As they turn down the corridor to the mess, she says, "There's a professor among your ranks? How does he come to join you? Unless his specialty was required for your mission to fight this plague. Is that why you came, because you knew that those things were here and I just got lucky that you heard my distress signal?"
@Durro Thel-Tanis
Durro Thel-Tanis — 12/14/2021
Durro gives her a sideways look, but says nothing about her 'enthusiasm'. Instead, he answers her question;
"Sorry, I was distracted by the lack of personnel around. To answer your question; I'm part of a larger team. We've all come together following clues that led us to the swarm. The 'core' of the group is Ryan, the man you saw injured, Tesara, and myself. We all met when Tesara, my apprentice at the time, and I booked passage on the ship Ryan was flying, the Jupiter 1. A yacht belonging to a young noblewoman named Ava. She and her life partner, Nova, are on Baklid VI currently; Ava is setting herself up as Governor of the Baklid System and now it seems Lanus. Though she has also referred to herself as 'Empress', make of that what you will."
"Astra is my current apprentice, she and Tesara rescued Ryan while I rescued you. Astra joined us on Baklid, we rescued her thinking we were rescuing the exiled Queen Delphinium from her Summer Palace. She has traveled with and helped us since. The young woman you met in the medical bay is a fairly new addition to the team; Mishka. Her sister was a Jedi, but was killed on Lanus. We brought the body to their home on Dubrillion for a proper burial. Mishka and Ryan hit it off well unless I miss my guess, have started a relationship together. Who knows how that will turn out. Then, last but not least, there's Professor Kenobi. He ran into us, literally, on Dubrillion. His ship crashed into and heavily damaged the Jupiter 1. While talking to him, Tesara found that he has spent most of his life studying the Swarm and trying to find a way to defeat them; to drive them back. Since we were also investigating the swarm, he elected to join us."
As Durro finishes his rundown, the pair enter the mess hall.
"I believe that's everyone, I hope you're paying attention. There will be a quiz." He smiles playfully at the young woman.
"As for why we were out there; the hulk was detected by the authorities on Dubrillion; they asked Astra and I to investigate. They were worried it may be the massive flagship of General Graff of the Dead Hand Fleet. When we arrived near the object, it turned out to be the derelict and Professor Kenobi picked up your distress call. The rest, you heard or figured out. Some might say it was lucky we were out there, just an odd coincidence, but I don't believe in blind luck. All is as the Force wills it; the Force brought you to us for a reason. I'm fascinated to discover what that reason is."
He uses the self-serve station to order himself a pre-fab meal from the mess. He gestures to the terminal.
"Here. If you need help; let me know."
@Hadaza
Hadaza — 12/14/2021
The data dump is what she asked for, but still leaves her reeling. Blindly following the actions of the man before her, without really paying attention to what she's ordering, she runs the litany back to him:

"You - Durro Thel-Tanis, sometimes called Master Thel-Tanis, are part of a core group of adventurers that include someone named Tesara, your apprentice Astra, and Ryan, who's the pilot of a ship called the Jupiter One, which is owned by Ava, who is Governor/Empress of Baklid and Lanus along with her partner, Nova.

Ryan is in a relationship with Mishka, who I have met and was with him in the Medlab, where he was brought after he was hurt during my rescue from the derelict.

And last, but not least, is the newly arrived resident Swarm expert, Professor Kenobi, who is apparently tagging along because you all have that in common, though it seems that there are other reasons, both individual and collectively, for the rest of you to be traversing the galaxy."

Tray in hand, she looks Durro in the eye, utterly confident in her retention and recitation of the information "Did I miss anything?"

She turns to walk towards an empty seat, suddenly ravenous at the smells wafting to her nostrils. She doesn't know what she got, but she's sure that if it doesn't go in her mouth in the next few minutes, she will die all over again, this time from starvation.

3 bites in, she puts her fork down and turns to Durro. "I don't know that I ever did thank you for rescuing me. You and your team took an incredible risk coming aboard, foolish though it was given my message, but I'm grateful you did. The fate that awaited me was a horror that I can't even imagine, even though I saw it first hand." She shudders, rubbing her hands up and down her arms trying to self-soothe.

Still holding herself, she asks, "What did you mean when you said , 'All is as the Force wills it'? And who is General Graff of the Dead Hand Fleet?"

@Durro Thel-Tanis
Durro Thel-Tanis — 12/14/2021
"You didn't miss anything." Durro says with a smile. "At least your mind is sharp, even if your memories are gone."
Following her, he sits opposite her at the long, empty table she had selected.
"You're welcome. That's the thing about our group, well about me at the very least. I'll always do what I can to help, especially if I'm asked."
He begins eating the pre-made reheated sandwich he had ordered. The young woman is impressive, even if she doesn't know who she is.
"I am a Jedi, which is why I am sometimes called 'Master.' The Force is what gives the Jedi their power; it's an energy field created by all living things. All things that live touch the Force, but only a gifted few can control its flow, to an extent. For those few, time and training will grant them the ability to quiet their mind and hear the whispers of the Force, to feel the subtle pulls of its currents and allow it to guide and influence their actions. I thought you might be Force-sensitive, but while I can normally tell by listening to the Force, feeling it flow around someone, I could not tell with you."
He continues eating his meal.
@Hadaza
Hadaza — 12/14/2021
They continue in silence for a while, the sound of their chewing and the scrape of utensils the only noises exchanged between them. Every so often, Haj will find herself starting from a reverie of voices and a hunger that she can't explain. She wonders if this is an echo of her own hunger as she devours the plate before her ... or if this hunger is a ghost of what she felt as she stood before that cocoon.

"Jedi?", she says finally. "Are all those who use the Force Jedi?", she asks.

With the flood gates now open and her mind a whirl with phantoms of hunger and fear, she plows on without waiting for Durro to answer.

"How does one know if it's some nebulous energetic field  they are feeling or if it is their own emotions? Why can some control it and others not? Does it depend on their sentience or their self-awareness? If all living creatures create it, why does it whisper and not roar, be subtle and not hit one like a blaster cannon? Are all Jedi 'Masters' of this art or is that a special designation for those special few? Is it art or science? Or something else?"

She stops her verbal stream of consciousness short, takes a deep breath, and asks one last question. "And why would you think that it would have any cause or reason to inveigle me?"

@Durro Thel-Tanis
Durro Thel-Tanis — 12/14/2021
Durro swallows before answering, waiting to ensure the torrent of questions has ceased. For now.
"No, not all who use the Force are Jedi." He says. "The Jedi are simply the most prominent. There are groups like the The Dagoyan Order or the Nightsisters who use the Force and are known to the Jedi. And of course, there's the Sith, ancient enemies of the Jedi."
"It's hard to say how you know it's the Force you're hearing, and not your own thoughts." Durro says. "Discerning the difference comes from intense training and is only possible when one is calm, at peace with themselves and the universe."
"Likewise, we don't know why some beings can manipulate the Force while others can't. There are microscopic organisms that exist in all living cells called 'midichlorians'; those who can wield the Force have a high concentration of these midichlorians in their cells. Though why they congregate in some beings and not others is still a mystery, even to the Jedi."
"I don't know why the Force is soft and subtle, it's not something I've thought much about. I'm sure there's a lesson in there for us, but it'll be for a far wiser master than I to find and pass on." He smiles as he says this.
"Not all Jedi are masters; as in any organization, there are levels of education and competence noted by title or rank. A Master is one who has passed the Jedi Trials, becoming a Knight of the Order, and then further brought another along that path. Once a Knight's apprentice attains Knighthood themselves, the elder is recognized as a Jedi Master. Though even among Jedi Masters there are some more educated, more... grounded than others. They are the ones who teach at the Jedi Temple, or even serve on the Jedi High Council. I'm not a Master at that level; I've merely passed on all I know to another, and am currently training a second apprentice."
"The Force doesn't deceive, not the way sophant beings do. Though it's often misunderstood and misinterpreted. I'm sure with the proper time and investigation, the truth about what's happened to you will be revealed."
@Hadaza
Hadaza — 12/15/2021
Haj takes in what the Jedi master tells her with equanimity as she sips a hot beverage that she didn't even know she was holding. Again, the voice from her dreams comes to her; the words passing her lips almost inaudibly. “Those who suffer emotion will never enjoy peace”. The tisane in her cup starts to ripple, though neither the cannikin, not her hands, are visibly shaking.

Her next thoughts are about the, what did he call them, midichlorians, and whether the medlab would have discovered those during her time there. Would they even know to look? Would this Jedi Master have tipped them off if he had suspicions so that he could use the information?

With no outward context to Durro, she shakes the thought away. No. Otherwise he would not have mentioned that he could not tell. He shows his hand in his candor. This is something to remember

Finally looking up to meet his eyes once more, she says, "So what now? The doctor said that I am fit to walk around, though I am hoping to do more than that. I would like to meet the crew who came to my rescue, if you are willing to arrange it."

She glances at her attire. "But maybe a change of clothes first. I'm afraid my first impressions haven't been the best thus far, what with the screaming and the bleeding and the big, horrible monsters and all. This time I'd like to present myself somewhat more put together, if that's ok with you."

@Durro Thel-Tanis
TheTraveler — 12/15/2021
@Durro Thel-Tanis your comlink goes off and you hear the followingmessage,  "This is the Professor. Wrap up your tasks promptly and meet in the hanger. New information just dropped." The line is abruptly cut.
Durro Thel-Tanis — 12/16/2021
Durro glances up from his comm, registering the curt message.
"Seems you'll have your chance sooner than you thought. If you want to freshen up quickly at the quarters they lent me, you can accompany me to the meeting that's just been called." He stands and readies to leave. "Perhaps you can also show us the videos on your suit. Any information will be helpful."
@Hadaza
Hadaza — 12/16/2021
Haj appears nonplussed, though insides she is roiling. She had just asked for this and now it had come to pass much faster than she had anticipated. Was she truly ready to meet these people, despite her request to do so?

A flurry of emotion courses across her face as she works to compose herself - fear, anticipation, worry, thoughtfulness, and, ultimately, resolve. She sets her shoulders, preparing herself to embrace the inevitable as she rises to join Durro in leaving the table.

"A moment to freshen up would be appreciated." She ruefully looks down at the clothes she pilfered from the medlab."You wouldn't have a change of clothes, perhaps?"

Walking with him to his quarter, she sighs resignedly as she speaks her next words, "Though, speaking of clothes, I should tell you that I have no idea what became of the suit I was wearing. It was damaged beyond repair, so I can only assume that it was discarded when it was removed. But that's merely a guess, as I was unconscious at the time. I don't know if you will be able to see those recordings, though they were damaged as well and may not tell you very much"

Haj slips into silence as she walks in silence with Durro to the meeting with his team. She thinks back to the cards that were tucked away inside the suit, now possibly gone to the incinerator, and wonders what they could have meant.

"Mishka recovered your suit, it's aboard the Professor's ship. Which is where we're going next."
They entered his borrowed quarters, and he gestures to the closet.
"There's two basic uniforms in there; crewman scrubs, no insignia. Likely used when off-duty. They should be uni-sex."
He sits at the small desk and adds,
"The refresher is at your disposal. I'll wait here."

Relief washes across her countenance at the news that the suit was recovered. However strong her ability to retain new information may be, trying to remember everything that she saw would be inaccurate at best, especially given the circumstances under which she saw them.

Moreover, there was hope that she could get those cards back. There was a message there for her, she was sure. But it wasn't for all eyes. She could only hope that they hadn't been discovered.

Then disquiet hit her. They would see. HE would see. His suspicions may be confirmed by her interactions with the creatures. All their suspicions would fall on her. Was she in league with this somehow, despite her vehement assertions that they leave to save their lives, because of her connection to whatever lay within that cocoon?

Her spinning mind was her only company as she stepped into the other room to collect herself and prepare to meet the team again for the first time.

As she dressed, she breathed slowly and deeply. She needed to calm down, clear her mind, settle her racing heart.  There would be questions that she could not answer. There could be accusatory looks. She needed to not look as blameworthy as she felt right now.

Dowsed and dressed in one of the uniforms Durro proffered, she steps up to the desk where he sits waiting for her. "I'm ready. Let's go meet your team."

Durro looks up from his comm, where he had been listening to the recorded meeting. He looks Hadaza up and down, searching for any sign of weakness brought on by injury. He does not want to push her too far too fast.
"Excellent. Let's get going, then."
They leave the quarters and make their way towards the hanger and the Professor's ship.

Haj keeps pace easily by Durro's side as they head towards the hanger, though she tugs at the uniform as though it were uncomfortable. And, in truth, it is.

Knowing that she is being, and will continue to be, scrutinized, and that her actions could be misinterpreted as fidgeting, she stops. Awareness prickles her skin through the unfamiliar fabric; the fibers of the cloth moving against the fibers of her being creating a friction that brings her attention to just beyond her heavily tattooed skin and the energy that crackles there. Her hands ball into fists as she tries surreptitiously to disburse the voltiac phenomenon currently distracting her from the hard fought peace she was trying to achieve.

An unconscious, repetitive susurrus escapes her lips as she walks. "Rolig sinnet. Erobre alt"
