Opening of Vacation Season (Game Event: 04-27-17)
Opening of Vacation Season
City of Baku
World of Fray
Outer Rim Territories
Date: 2920 AOK (Two Months after Auro's Birthday)
It has been one month since Jaden’s remarkable command experience. One that has made Jaden stronger and a more able leader. While mistakes were made, like his brother, Jaden was able to learn from them and become better. Despite the events of a month ago, Demaya took Jaden under her wing and started to train him on handling a large ship like the Vengeance. “It’s not enough to bark orders. You have to be able to feel her.” She had explained. During endless simulations of landing operations, she also told Jaden a little-known secret about the Venator Class Star Destroyer. “Do you know why they are called Dragon Ladies? Because you never know if she land like a dragon or a lady.”
It was also a month since the Republic learned of the coup on Bargess IV. A month since Frija Daal usurped her father and mother, and claimed the thrown of Bargress for her own. It was a move that sent shock waves through the Republic Senate. Bargess was another powerful supporter of the Republic within the Outer Rim. With each passing day, concern grows that Queen Frija Daal III will withdraw Bargess from the Republic. While she has made no public mention of that, she has continued to dismantle the Royal Court. Which she has claimed was infested with the weeds of the Core Worlds.
And a month since Auro’s meeting of Brother Tan-sin. Tan-sin, a former Force Adept and Soldier from Olivan. The man laid down his arms and dawned the clothes of a Priesthood. He became a spokesman of the Worshipers of Heaven. Brother Tan-sin spoke like true believer and claimed to have seen the King of Heaven preform a miracle right before his own eyes. Tan-sin admitted that there were six others like him, who had been sent to Fray to spread the love of Heaven to those who suffer on Fray. It was a message that Auro admitted with horror would spread like wildfire across the Outer Rim.
It was a month since Graff’s faction in the Outer Rim, formed the Outer Rim Plants’ Alliance, or OPA. It was the first time in nearly three thousand years that an Independent Government of worlds had formed in the Outer Rim. The OPA consisted of nearly fifty worlds across the Tingel Arm and there was no question on rather it would continue to grow. It was also the same time that Commodore Wilhuff Tarkin took his Venator II, the Caspia, and turned traitor against the Republic.
Due to Commodore Tarkin’s actions, his Twenty Ninth Jedi Division was recalled from the Outer Rim. An order that the division has since ignored and remained in the Mirial system. A move that has caused the Mirial government to demand reinforcements from the Jedi. Unwilling to provoke another conflict in the Outer Rim, the Jedi has instead sent a delegation to Mirial to speak with Master Shashi, the acting Commander of the Twenty Ninth. Mudding the waters, Tarkin launched a raid against Telos. He destroyed several Jedi Corvettes and Light Cruisers before withdrawing from the system.
Change comes in many shapes and sizes. And today, change took on the shape of a small armada of ships slipping from Hyperspace over Fray. They slowly started to converge on the Outer Rim City of Baku. Many of these civilian ships and luxury yachts hail from Mid Rim and Colony worlds, while others came as far as the Core Worlds. The sudden arrival of the ships triggered alarms across the Jedi Space Port and forced Demaya to take the Vengeance in to Orbit, leaving many party members including Duncan behind. It was an untimely notification from Mr. Fulps Haze that removed the tension from the air.
He informed the Jedi defenders of the city that the ships were expected. After the situation was calmed down, Demaya ordered the Vengeance back to her berth on Fray. It was a good opportunity to give Jaden some much needed practical experience landing the Vengeance. While he handled himself soundly, it was obviously a dragon landing. With the Vengeance once more on the ground, it was time for Mr. Haze to explain the sudden new arrivals that were landing.
He explained, that as part of Baku’s over all evolution from a dirty backwater refinery city, the city planners had been working on overhauling Baku’s image. Over the past six months, the vast Eastern Sector of the city had been torn down and a massive complex of condos, night clubs, restaurants, and high end shops were built. Last week, this part of the city was renamed Fulps Haze Heights. The first condo in Fulps Haze Heights was sold for one point one million credits. Now, Mr. Haze has organized a surprise for the city.
He had managed to move the famous Alameda Film Festival from its location in the Mid Rim, to the City of Baku. The Festival would bring tens of millions of credits in to the coffers of Baku and further expand the city as a destination playground for the rich and famous. Even the famous actor, Coleman Trebor leased a ten-bedroom condo so that he and his party can attend the festival. It is rumored that Coleman Trebor has been selected to play Auro Syrdash in the upcoming holo-action film, Before the Storm.
As thousands of visitors and new citizens of Baku converged on the Eastern Sector of the city security was tightened across the city. Heavy travel restrictions were placed on locals, and a dust to dawn curfew was imposed in select zones of the city. Additional Guardian security personal were brought in to ensure that the Film Festival would go off without a hitch. These personal were backed up by ten thousand combat droids. With most of the city under tight patrols, and travel papers between zones issued, all that was left was the grand Welcoming Party.
The Grand Welcoming Party was thrown in the grand ballroom of the Baku Palace. Here, some of the wealthiest visitors of Baku mingled with each other while clones served them drinks and snacks of the kind not seen on Fray in over ten years. With the average outfit costing in the hundreds of thousands of credits, it was a night for showing off. And one such way to show off was the donation plate near the entrance.
The donation plate featured a holo-image of a pair of young girls from Olivan. They were clearly dirty and hungry. A small sign read, “don’t forget the children of Olivan.” As patrons would enter the party, they would deposit a small donation in to the plate. A large counter over the entrance proudly displayed the progress of the donations. By the time Mr. Trebor entered, the count had reached one point five million credits. He proudly brought the donation up to an even two million credits after giving his best Lord Sembla impersonation. A show of artistic skill that brought applauds from the rest of the guests.
Lord Sembla and his fiancé were the last to show up. Of course, the son of the Chancellor would be fashionably late. While his date wore the latest in Core World’s finest, he sported a humble Jedi appearance. His apprentice, Amelia, walked silently behind and was flanked by Unna. Unna was stunning, and a stark comparison to Amelia who wore her simple Jedi robes with pride. The group walked in to the grand ballroom as the Master of Ceremony announced their entrance to the party. “Ladies and Gentlemen, the Hero of Olivan, Lord Sembla and his proud fiancé!” The cheers of the gathering were thunderous.
On Auro’s arm was Sola, looking stunning in her dress. Only Auro and Unna could sense the sadness behind her prefect smile. While Sola had expected a public announcement, she had asked Auro’s mother to hold off on any official announcements until after the trip to Fray. Sola was genuinely surprised by the announcement and apologized to Auro for the surprise. Unna was able to confirm that Sola was speaking the truth. Despite that, she would hold close to Auro and help him navigate the crowd. After all this was her element and she handled it like a professional.
As she introduced him to famous actors, masters of industries, the powerful and wealthy, she handled each meeting as if she was meeting a long-lost friend. It was a who’s who of the Outer Rim and it was a chance for Auro to build some powerful contacts. And on the lips of everyone was one common question, will the Republic go to war in the Outer Rim? It would appear that many fear a wide spread war between the OPA and the Republic. It was Sola that politely and skillfully kept Auro from being cornered. In this environment, Sola was worth her weight in gold.
Sola’s lesson to Auro was simple. “You don’t have to agree with, or even like them. But it’s important that you do nothing that would cast yourself or your mother in a bad light.” She motioned to the media, “always remember that you are being watched. Everything you do will be watched carefully. Your actions and words will have galactic effects.”
Back on the Vengeance and for the rest of the party, it was just a normal night. Though reports from beyond the wall were unsettling. Four weeks ago, a Worshipper of Heaven by the name of Brother Som-chai set up a large tent and started to speak to the refugees that were huddled near the wall of Baku. He had the same message as Brother Tan-sin, the same false hope and lies. A message that was being eaten up by the refugees. The first week, there were only a handful of patrons in the tent. The second week, there were ten. The third week, there were fifty. And just last night, the tent was filled to a point of overflowing with refugees seeking some measure of spiritual guidance.
The Free Olivan Voice continued its broadcasts across Fray. Targeting the vulnerable people of Fray, the Free Olivan Voice are using music and messages to forward their propaganda about Heaven. Republic Intelligence placed the source of the Free Olivan Voice to somewhere in Fray’s former capital. Their latest music videos, painted an Outer Rim World torn by conflict waged by the Republic. It depicted a dark hero leading the people against the fat wealthy leaders of the Core Worlds to victory.
