A massage from the Narrator
Before I get in to this, I want this known that I have asked Andre and Victor to edit this post. I have given them full artistic liberties with this post. I wrote my draft so that they know where my heart is on this. My instruction to them was simple. Work together to hammer this post in to a much softer, much more to the point kind of work. Once done, I have tasked Victor with posting this up to the OOC Threads. I have also invited them to include their own thoughts in this.

First and foremost: I consider each of you my friends. Friends whom I would share drinks with outside of gaming and for me, that says a lot. I do not have a personal problem with anyone. But, for the last few months I've measured the success of our gaming sessions on how much criticism I receive afterward.

I understand that some of you have reservations on how the game is run and where the story is headed. But, I ask for you to consider that your words, or in some cases, your silence, have a devastating effect on me.

I deserve to enjoy the game too and it has become difficult to recall the last time that I have not been disappointed at the end of a session.

Last session, I was ready to simply put the books away and end the game. But, I don't feel that would be fair to the players who enjoy the game as is.

I am sorry that certain events in the game have been upsetting, but I do not feel that they were unreasonable. My goal was to remove all previous story entanglements and allow the players to dictate on how to proceed. In short, I wanted to clean the slate.

I have tried my best to be a good narrator and I have tried to reach out and draw individuals back in to the game. But, the emotional strain that has seeped in to the game has made running this game extremely difficult.

Something must change!

If it doesn’t, the damage will be deep and friendships will be lost. So, please, I ask you to seriously consider what I am about to say:

I will not be forced by deed, word of mouth, lack of action, or other means of manipulation to kick/ban someone from the game!

If we are not friends, or at least friendly towards each other, then we have much larger problems. I feel that this single issue is at the heart of much of the problems we have. Which is why this cannot be allowed to continue.

With that said, I cannot promise to change everything of how I run the game.

When I created the New Horizons universe, it was never meant to be the canon Star Wars universe. I did this to give myself an open range to build a universe that was special and invited the players to explore it. I accept that this is my unique style of gaming and I promise to try to meet you in the middle.

However, if this is not acceptable to you, or...

If you are genuinely not enjoying yourself, or...

If you have personal issues with other players and are incapable of shelving them during the game, or...

If you cannot actively participate while certain players are there, or...

If you feel like this is just not the setting for you.

Then I a humbly invite you to not join future games.

This is not a ban!

This is an opportunity for you to take a break and consider if you really want to have future involvements in our game.

Please understand, I am not saying that if you don't like it, you can leave. I don't want anyone to leave. I care about each one of you and I hope that our time together is enough to demonstrate that. You are my friends.

But, as I've said, something must change.

Ask yourself if you can meet the above criteria. If not, please respectfully bow out of the game and allow the rest of us to continue.

RE: A massage from the Narrator
First, I would like to say that I enjoy Mike's stories. Mike's storytelling, and the desire to see it play out,  is the sole reason I come to the game.

My lack of participation is due to a few reasons, only one which is directly due to the game. That reason is the crossroads my character has recently faced. I have been asking myself "where does Unna go from here?" I have yet to find the answer.

Another reason is how I was upset by tensions in the room involving other players. My response was to shut down. I found it to be depressing. I desired so badly to enjoy the game, but it is hard with negative vibes in the air. I need for that tension to be resolved one way or another to enjoy myself. It sounds like others need it to be resolved as well.

The other reason is highly personal and I invite anyone who wants to know to ask me about it privately. I do not feel comfortable discussing my life choices on a forum. I am aware that my life choice that has nothing to do with this game, yet has fallen under scrutiny and caused the conflict that I discussed in the previous paragraph. If anyone wishes to hear my perspective on the situation, please contact me privately.
