Approaching Kasandra 1/7/22
Hadaza — 01/07/2022
Still veiled, Hadaza approaches Kasandra after the song finishes. She doesn't know if she will be understood by these people who appear as strange  to her as she is sure she would to them, should she take down her garments. She waits patiently for the female to acknowledge her.

She bows her head slightly, dropping her eyes and reaching out with the little training Tesara has given her, hoping that she can convey her meaning to the proud warrior before her.

"Thank you for sharing your story. I'm sorry for what has befallen you, and your people."

She clasps her hands before her in a meditative position and bows deeper before rising to look the woman before her full in the face to study her.

The tall slender creature blinked a few times as she watched the veiled creature before her. Her nose expanded once more before she closed her eyes and bowed her head slightly. It was clear that the creature didn't understand what was being said to her.

With nothing more between them, Hadaza turns away to return to the Professor's ship and her quarters.

Believing she is outside the light of the fires, she removes the confining material around her face and hair to feel the fresh air on her bare skin for the first time in she knew not how long.

As she is walking away, she spies @Kunanaki and she is struck by a brilliant idea like a phase blast from above. "Professor!", she calls out. "Could I have your help a moment?" She jogs over to meet him, her  loose braids streaming down her now visible tattoed arms and back.
Kunanaki — 01/08/2022
@Hadaza "Oiiiii!" HE waves from his distance. He was pleased to watch her jog. Eyes twinkled with mischief. "Found yourself on a proper stroll have you? Good."
Hadaza — 01/08/2022
She slows her advance and stops before him. "Not quite, Professor. I want to speak with Kasandra. Her people's performance touched something in me and I want to tell her. But we can't make ourselves ...," she turns back to where the other woman stands, 'there's a language barrier. I would ask you to translate for me, please"

holds out his hand. "That will be ten thousand credits." watching her as he had a little twinkle of mischief in his eyes. HE approached her and glanced over as Kassandra. "A translator eh? Language barrier? We can train you in language as well but for now I can stopgap. Let us." he gestures and walks over.

She gives him the side-eye at his jest. 'I'll have to owe it to you, Professor. Or you can take it out in trade." She breaks into a wide, slightly wicked grin, then sobers as she turns back to the fire.

She resets her veil to hide her features once more. "Language lessons will have to wait. And I thank you." She takes his arm and they head back to where Kasandra stands.

When they are once again before Kasandra, Haj puts her hands in the form of a triangle and repeats her earlier statement.

"Thank you for sharing your song. I'm sorry for what has befallen you, and your people."

She adds, "My friends tried to tell me what happened here, but they utterly failed to deliver the depth and breadth of your experience. You honor us. I hope that we prove worthy of your trust."

She bows again, eyes downcast, her hands still in the triangle shape.

gave the translation, happily giving Kasandra all she needs while they communicate.
TheTraveler — 01/08/2022
Kasandra stood there listening to the words, first from Hadaza, then translated from Professor Kenobi. It was clear by her expression that it was indeed a language barrier at first.

"We have repeated this tradition since the creation of our Great Tree," she said motioning to the large stone tree overlooking the massive field where the Red Feathers had gathered.

"Each new hatchlings are taught the song and given their parts," she explained.

Hadaza — 01/08/2022
"If you will forgive my ignorance, I have many questions -  I see that the ribbons are different colors, but your people's feathers are all red. What do the colors designate? And why are they no longer any color other than red?"

She looks earnestly into the face of the woman before her as she speaks, though she can't help but sneak a look at the Professor to gage his reaction to questions that could potentially be seen as rude or intrusive, even in their naivete.

gave a hearty laugh as he translated. Rudeness was not what he wagered, but rather a curiousity to know more. "The brown feathers existed as a special branch called the Pathfinders, as well as a rich cultural history of every feather having a caste system. However, acting as a quiet translator, I shall relay your message." and does so.
@TheTraveler , @Hadaza
Hadaza — 01/08/2022
As he is translating, Haj leans in and whispers at his shoulder just below his ear, "Laughter, Professor? I didn't think I was that out of line"
@TheTraveler @Kunanaki
Kunanaki — 01/08/2022
snorts. "Sometimes you have to step back and appreciate the humor in absurdity. We're asking bird people why feather red and not blue feather? Doesn't that strike you as beautiful?"
Hadaza — 01/08/2022
Their whispered conversation continues. "Beautiful, yes. And a perspective that wasn't previously asked. Did you not notice that the colors of their feathers also match the lit points on map they showed you? Did you notice that their brown feathers match the colors of the Jedi robes? What significance that, if any?" She looks up at him as she asks the last question, then falls silent as she waits for Kasandra's answer

@TheTraveler @Kunanaki
Kunanaki — 01/08/2022
translates that to Kasandra. @TheTraveler
TheTraveler — 01/08/2022
Kasandra blinked as she listened to the translation, "Brown Feathers were Starwalkers," she said softly. "They were touched by Those Who Came Before," she motioned to all the Red Feathers around her, "we are those who serve to die for all others."

She then motioned to the ground, "the others hide from the Madness."

She then frowned, "the Brown Feathers were known by many names to many different people. Pathfinders and Starwalkers are but two," she said holding up two fingers from one of her secondary hands.

@Hadaza @Kunanaki
Kunanaki — 01/08/2022
translates that to @Hadaza
Hadaza — 01/08/2022
The floodgates of her curiosity now open, and given encouragement by Kasandra's answers that her questions are not out of line, she blurts more in a fury with the tenacity and demand of a toddler trying to learn everything about what it sees. "What of the other colors? There were more ribbons than just brown and red. What is their significance? Do all your people now only have red feathers? Was it the brown feathers that gave you the insight to stop travelling the stars or the HU? What happened to the HU that came? Are they still here somewhere? Were they the one who taught you how to fight the Madness with these bladed weapons? How was the material discovered?"

Her ardent inquiry has caused her to drop the Professor's arm and step in front of him. There is some part of her, the part that craves information about herself, that is feeding this need to know about others, especially others who may have answers that would give her time to learn more about ... everyone else.
@Kunanaki @TheTraveler
Kunanaki — 01/08/2022
translates this empathetically @TheTraveler
