Tesara Hadaza morning meeting 1/12/22
Tesara Anerin — 01/12/2022
Tesara leaves the kitchen, not altogether sure if I Astra and Durro will succeed in their cooking attempt and that whatever they make will be edible. She is walking down the hallway towards her room when Hadaza herself appears
@Hadaza

Still buzzing from this morning's events, Haj is in her own world as she rounds the corner ... and bumps right into Tesara. "Master Anerin, I'm so sorry. I'm apparently quite faraway this morning." And judging by the glow on the Zabrak's phizog, Tesara can see something has changed in her from last night.

Tesara is startled at being bumped into but even more startled at the brightness surrounding Haj. Whatever Astra had been concerned about was obviously no longer an issue. "Haj! Good morning to you as well! You look....well...quite different from yesterday. What happened?" She asks curiously.

Haj blushes, though holds herself unapologetically for the flush of emotion. "Truthfully, several things. Princess Astra came to see me after you left last night. She made me see how awful, how thoughtless and self absorbed I've been . I put you all in mortal danger because of it. And I owe you, all of you, an apology for my behaviour."
She shifts her weight. "This morning, I realized I've been so haunted by ghosts, obsessed with searching for something, or someone, I may never see again ... never BE again ... that I wasn't living in the now. It cost me a month of time and almost costs us all our lives. So I let her go. Durro was right. I have an opportunity to be any one, any thing that I choose. That's an opportunity that few people have. I've been wasting it."

Astonished doesn't begin to cover it. Her mouth falls open at these statements. Yesterday she had left Hadaza's room knowing how furious she was, and Tesara herself had been utterly enraged as well. She closes her mouth. "It seems we both had quite the evening." She smiles. "I am happy to hear it, Haj. Truly. So Astra revealed herself to be the heir of the Baklid throne as well, I see?" She chuckles. "She doesn't usually like to be called Princess." Tesara squeezes Haj's shoulder. "You don't owe me any apologies, Haj. In fact, I owe you one. Can we speak somewhere private for a moment? They're cooking breakfast f--" she stops and self edits. "And they likely need some time to finish it."
@Hadaza
Hadaza — 01/12/2022
A flicker of confusion crosses Haj's face, but she replies, "Certainly."
As they walk to a nearby room, she mutters, "The wager was for dinner, but I suppose breakfast will suffice. And I'll have to call him on getting help. Not sure that qualifies, exactly. Letter of the law vs the spirit of it, as it were"
@Tesara Anerin

Tesara is a little confused at the muttering but follows Haj. She closes the door and takes a deep breath. "I owe you several apologies, Hadaza. Firstly, of what said and did when we arrived on the planet. I was raised on a very tribal planet with no technology at all. When people came to our village that were different, they were not treated well. I made an assumption that based on the fact that we were human and you are not, that you might be in danger simply from your appearance. That was wrong of me, and proven wrong when not a single one of the Priloc gave any sign that your appearance mattered to them at all. So please accept my apologies. It won't happen again." She says solemnly.
((OOC there is more but will wait to see if Haj reacts to this first)

Hadaza is a taken aback by the revelation. She never expected this from Tesara, the one person who had treated her so generously during what were her worst days. She sits down on a nearby crate to process what she has just heard.

Tesara looks anxious, but continues. "I admit when I am wrong. And I did you wrong again by not speaking up more when everything was happening. I should have advocated for you more strongly when you were in danger. I should have..." She gulps. "I should have defended you or tried to stop Kasandra from threatening you with that blade. I should have argued with the professor in your defense. I was so angry at him that it literally left me speechless. That is no way to treat a friend and someone who trusts me." She lowers her head. "I am sorry, Hadaza. And lastly, I am sorry for coming to your room last night in such a fit of rage. It won't happen again."
@Hadaza
Hadaza — 01/12/2022
Haj takes it all in, not that she could have stopped it if she wanted to. Her teacher was coming to her to say that she had failed to protect her. Worse, that she had intentionally excluded her from gathering information that might have helped her, possibly them all, and which ultimately resulted in the last night's debacle. Hadaza is shell-shocked. Emotions - betrayal, anger, resentment, resignation - ripple across her face and shoulders like water.
She closes her eyes, takes a breath, then one more, before opening them and standing up before the other woman and raising her head to meet Tesara's eyes.
Unflinchingly, she says, "I forgive you, Tesara. If I am asking to be forgiven for my own bad behaviour from others, I have to be wiling to do so for them as well. We all deserve a second chance, don't you think?"
@Tesara Anerin
Tesara Anerin — 01/12/2022
A shudder of relief washes over her. "I am grateful of your forgiveness, Haj. I spent the entire night in meditation and quite a bit was revealed to me and while not all of it was unpleasant, much of it was. I learn from my mistakes. And now have eyes to recognize my own shortcomings when they show their faces again." She says quietly.

Hadaza — 01/12/2022
"It seems we both have had powerful growth over the last 12 hours, Master Anerin." She reaches out a hand to place it on the shoulder of the woman before her, an act of solidarity and support. "We can't run from our past, no matter we try. But neither can we allow it to control us. Your memories made decisions for you. I've been making decisions because I have no memory. Neither works out well. There has to be a 3rd road, a place of balance between them, nu?"
She smiles now. "Tell you what - I'll help you with yours if you help me with mine, ok?"
@Tesara Anerin
Tesara Anerin — 01/12/2022
Tesara hugs Haj impulsively, just has she had hugged Durro this morning. Relief was swelling in her chest as more fear drained from her. "Yes. A thousand times yes." She pulls away, waiting to hear what Haj has to say.

"One thing you can help with is ...", she shuffles her feet. "I need to borrow some more clothes. I have ... I want to look ... ... and ...", she looks down at her ubiquitous uniform, "this simple won't do. If you are ok with it, I'd like to come by your quarters to try some things on"
She stops and looks a bit self-conscious. "I also want to show you something ... something that came off the derelict with me."
@Tesara Anerin
Tesara Anerin — 01/12/2022
She blinks. "Of course! I had wanted to find a market on Priloc to get you some clothing but alas...they didn't wear clothing." She laughs a little weakly. "I don't have as many clothes as Ava does but you're welcome to anything I have. However, someone is very excited to be treating you to breakfast. Lets not keep them waiting?" She smiled.

Hadaza breathes deeply. One down ... but that was the easy one. Now onto the next, , she thinks as she heads out to the mess and a victor's feast.
