Durro feels the stirring in the Force as he passes Tesara's quarters. Metaphysical petrichor; that nudge from the Force. Now is the time.
Tucking the book under his arm, he taps softly on the door.
"Tesara? You're awake, I assume?"

Tesara opens the door. "Yes, I'm sorry, I just needed to meditate to..." She chuckles when she hears the professor, then looks back at Durro "You already know why I needed to." She opens the door more for him to enter if he wishes.

Durro steps inside and withdraws a small tin from his robes.
"Seed?" He asks, opening and offering the tin. "I still have plenty from the Priloc feast."

"I'm about to make breakfast for Hadaza; I owe her a meal and I want to check in with her. I didn't want to intrude just after we left."
"How was your meditation? I understand there was a lot to work through, I've never felt you so angry. Ever."

Tesara sighs deeply and eats a few more seeds. "I learned a great deal." She says quietly. "Mostly about myself. Especially the impact that my childhood on Lanus had as well as the teachings of the Yilsaani, and you of course. I never understood how deeply implanted the complex fears are within me. Everything that happened with the Priloc both before meeting them and during our time with them was seeded-" She holds up a seed to observe it. "In fear. I spent most of my time reacting out of fear. It didn't help that everything seemed to happen so fast." She sighs. "I allowed the dark side to touch me more than it ever has before." She admitted quietly.

Durro nods knowingly
"As I told you on Lanus, a lifetime ago it seems, the Dark Side will always be there. Especially when and where we least expect it. We must be on constant guard against it, for it gains easiest hold when we cease to think of it as a threat. Complacency is death for a Jedi... for a Force user. When we think we're on top of everything; when we think we've conquered the Darkness, is the moment we've truly lost. A hard-learned lesson from the Jedi of our universe."
"How's Hadaza doing? How was she when you left her?"

"Angry. Understandably. But then again so was I. She said she wanted to meditate and so I left her to do so, knowing it really was the best thing she and I could do for ourselves." She looks up at Durro. "Do you know why I was so angry?"

"For the same reason you snapped at me more than once on Lanus." He says with a grin. More seriously, he continues;
"Because The Professor was callused, caring little if at all for Hadaza's well being and seeming to only care about his research. An aloof ex-soldier, not unlike your old Master when he first started training you."

"Yes, but Durro you never disregarding someone's life with such....such...." She closed her eyes and inhaled slowly, not allowing herself to indulge in anger again. When she felt more calm, she opened her eyes again. "You never treated another person like a science experiment. Never would have stood by watching in curiosity as someone was in danger. You would have translated what I said even if you disagreed. I cannot condone this behavior, and yet it seems like I have little choice but to acknowledge this about him and deal with it. I agreed to be his student and as such he does deserve my respect as a pupil but..." She sighs again. "I realized that part of this was fed by my jealousy of his knowledge of so many things. Honestly when we were speaking to Kasandra in the tree I felt as if my brain were being squeezed and he soaked it in like a sponge." She looked abashed. "I know that's a lot."

"Hubris. You wouldn't be the first Force user to succumb to it. Though few possess the self-reflection to move past it."
"I myself learned this lesson recently. Once again, you impress me with your maturity."
"What do you plan to do going forward? Will you continue to help Hadaza learn about herself and the Force?"

Tesara smiles at the compliment. "Thank you, Durro. That maturity you speak of would not be possible had you not been my teacher. And yes." She brightens a little. "I am excited to continue with her. She has made great progress. There is just so much she doesn't know or understand and is frustrated by it. Understandably. And what the professor said hurt her. It's a deep seeded fear that we don't trust her and he blatantly spoke it out loud to everyone." She shakes her head. "I must find a way to come to grips with his idiosyncrasies."

"You give me too much credit." Durro says, averting his gaze for a moment. "As for the Professor; have you tried empathy? Getting to know him and understanding why he is the way he is? You may never like or agree with how he is, but understanding it will at least help you cope with it."

She ponders this for a moment, then looks a little sheepish. "No I haven't thought of that but the very first thing that came to mind when you suggested it is that it would be a miasma of chaos." She laughs a little. "Ahh I just like my order and calm too much. Thank you for that suggestion, I will try it."

"If the last two years have taught you anything, it's that order and calm are luxuries we will never acquire." Durro says with a chuckle. He glances down at the book in his hand.
"Well, I need to get to the galley and figure out how to make Baked Burra Fish. Seems simple enough; assuming the Professor has something close in taste. Eternals; I haven't cooked since Lanus. Our Lanus. I hope this doesn't drive Hadaza screaming from the ship..."
He offers Tesara the tin of Priloc Seed.
"You want this, or shall I take it?"

She laughs a little. "Sounds...delicious?" She sounds dubious. "No, I really need to go to the kitchen to get a substantial meal. I had no idea I was in that meditation for five hours!" She smiles. "Durro....thank you. For everything. Truly." She gives him a hug. "I wouldn't be who I am, or where I am without you."

"Maybe it'll go good on the fish..." He muses.
He returns the hug, adding softly
"At the risk of inflating the ego; I am very proud of you. I've been told I should say that more often. Of all the people on this ship, I truly feel you're Hadaza's best bet as a teacher. You have the maturity and the patience, as well as a varied background of experience." He smiles and adds; "Remember the Jedi mandate: Pass on what you've learned."
He steps back, then turns and leaves the room and head with Tesara for the galley. The galley where @(Princess) Astra Korraay is getting her own breakfast.
