Life is the Greatest Adventure

As the arrived on Javin, Gadeon found Ni. " do you have a moment to talk?"  Gadeon had that serous look on his face, the one he got when he knew he had to speak with care.

[Gar]

"Gaddy Daddy!!! I missed you!!!" Ni exclaimed happily when she saw Gadeon for the first time since leaving Corruscant. She bent down and pulled him into one of her signature hugs, holding him just a little longer than usual before setting him down again. She knelt down in order to stay at eye level with her friend.

But then Ni noticed The look. A knowing expression crossed her face and she whined, "Gaddy, I don't know how much more of this I can take. First I'm swamped with boring meetings for two weeks, then I'm trapped in a boring ship for I don't know how many days, and Miss Zay asked me to be her Mistress, which was very very uncomfortable..." she sighed and pouted, "Its been one serious thing after another. When are we just going to have some fun?!"

Gadeon gave his usual reaction, though as she knelt down his lips turned into a little frown. "That is what I came to talk with you about, Ni. I know when you started coming along with me that things were one way, but I am not sure that things will go back to that any time soon. I wanted too let you know that I am thankful for all the help you have been these past few years.  I still think that you could be what I told you you could be before you helped too get that bill passed.  You can change how the Galaxy views Zeltrons.  Of that is not the path that calls to you I understand that as well. Ni, I feel that I have mislead you as to my purpose, but this path is one that I feel I am being called to fill. It was not one that I want, not one that I have sought, but when I look at what can be done it feels that my conscience would destroy me if I did not try. I consider you a friend, and I do want what is best for you."

[Gar]

"Mislead me?" asked Ni, confused, and then a look of clarity crossed her face and her shoulders slumped. "Oh..." She said quietly, realizing what he was referring to, "Gaddy, I'm afraid..." But she couldn't finish her sentence, she had to bite her lip and hold her breath to brace against a sudden onlsaught of emotions.

Gadeon nodded somewhat understanding. "What are you afraid of?" Out was curiosity, not dismissal, he searched her face for an answer as he let he have however long she needed to get hold of her emotions. Out was never what he had set out to do, she was afraid, a strong emotion, he simply had seen her potential long ago he never thought this was were that would lead.

Ni took a deep breath and said hoarsely, "I don't trust the council, Gaddy...what if it's a way to get you close, what if it's a trap?" She looked down at her hands and squeezed them together. "They didn't listen to me...they were so quick to condemn my Master..." her voice broke as she confided, "After all I've learned since then, it seems so strange that he'd be dismissed so easily...it's because of their judgement that he is now dead and dishonored..."

"Ni, I am not that important, I am not like the chancellor, or even Duncan or Damaya. I am a nobody such methods would not be needed to deal with me, a hunter squad would do just fine for that. Ni, I did not think this is a trap of that nature, a political trap it might be. My master was killed here, and the removal of the one who killed her from the council and replace her with her student, it shows an effort to appease the other side. If I am just that tool, there is no rule against stepping away from the order. As for your Master, give me the chance to show them what they can be."

[Gar]

"But you're important to me..." She objected quietly, "and if they invited you to join the Council then that must mean you're important to them, too..."

Ni's eyes widened when she heard him mention his master. It occurred to her that, even with all the time they spent together, he never talked about this person before. "Killed in Corruscant?" She whispered, a concerned expression falling over her face, "But, how...? Why..?"

She was arrested for attacking the chancellor.  It is a lie to be sure, she was a pacifist. While in her cell, former member of the council Pru Hull snuck in and murdered her.  Master Chen was framed for the murder and a hunter squad was sent after him before he could clear himself." Gadeon decided he would meditate on just why he was important to the council, that could be a good point to be sure of before he accepted. "I am fairly sure what makes me important to them, but it is not the kind of importance that stops someone from being assassinaited."

[Gar]

The Zeltron's eyes narrowed at this. "I had no idea the council was also responsible for the death of your Master...I'm so sorry, Gaddy..." She laid a hand on his shoulder. "That just makes me even more uneasy. It doesn't seem like they are in the business of using assassins to remove those they see fit. They use more indirect methods..."

Ni slowly pulled away and asked quietly, "What was her name...? Where is Pru Hull now?"
