Tensions ran high aboard the Saberjowl. No one was more aware of that cold, hard truth than Jedi Commander Auro Syrdash. Having dismissed the bridge crew less than an hour before, he had felt their contempt for him even as they carried out his orders. This was hardly surprising, given that Auro had all but been tried and convicted of treason by the newly confirmed Supreme Chancellor, High Jedi General Praeta Syrdash.

Auro's pet albek, Pablo-Jill, had trotted after him into the cockpit and hopped up into the pilot's chair, from which vantage point he dutifully watched the bridge doors. Requesting an update from Nines as he opened up his tool kit, Auro set about performing routine maintenance on the astromech droid he had shared a friendship with from his earliest years.

From the corner of his eye, Auro saw Pablo-Jill sniffing the air. At that instant, he could sense Gadeon approaching. Continuing to work on Nines, Auro gritted his teeth and steeled himself for another well-meaning lecture…
