The Wren Identity [Kaleb and Reine] (Closed)
Kaleb Wren — 06/25/2021
Kaleb was looking out the window of the second floor room they were in. He had checked them in at two others prior. This place they were in now, wasn’t the type of place that anyone would expect Reine to be in. He even had her change into her least noticeable clothing, which wasn’t easy. Something about that message from Ava asking if they had gotten to Rotterdam still bothered him. He never replied, it could give anyone listening a connection trace. Then Durro had changed his mind about joining them on their trip to Baklid-2, something about the Force calling him. He didn’t push, in fact it might be better if it were just two people. Two people would be easier to keep hidden than three. They had been in the room for a few hours already and so far everything seemed to be okay. That’s when the other shoe dropped. He looked at his comlink and saw there was another message. ‘Dark blue skies with a focus on you and the one you are with.’ “Damn, I knew I had a bad feeling about this.” he said “I’ll be right back. Don’t leave the room!” he called out and rushed out.

Reine had been flipping through a mag that had been left in the room. It was about fishing. It was incredibly dull but she thought she might be able to learn something. It was the third hotel in so many days. No one was telling her what was going on "for her own good" they had said. She feared that the Jedi Hunter was back and they reasoned the less she knew the better.
The sweater she was in was itchy and hot. They had had to find her more inconspicuous clothing and settled on some very drab pieces. She couldn't wait until she didn't need to hide anymore. At least the incision was healing and not itching anymore.
Kaleb was on high alert all the time. So much for a "small vaca". As she flipped a page she heard his command and even though she cried "Quoi? Pourquoi?" The door had closed. She flopped her head on the pillow in frustration.

It wasn’t long after that he had run down to a little convenience store (more like a dollar store) that he had noticed earlier. He grabbed a few things he needed and then went back up to the room he shared with Reine. “Join me in the bathroom.” he told her as he dumped the items on the bed and made his way to room. “You may want to remove your top.” he said as he began to open the box he had brought with him and was already reading the instructions.
Reine — 06/26/2021
She had the gall to look scandalized at his request. "Pourquoi?" She asked picking up some of the items and looking at them.
Kaleb Wren — 06/26/2021
"Well we have some Jedi hunters on the way, and they seem to be after you." Kaleb told her. "I don't have anymore details than that. But if we can alter your appearance slightly it should help keep them off of our scent."
Reine — 06/26/2021
Reine dropped the box and covered her hair with her hands. "Do you know how much work eet takes to achieve zees look?" Her eyes had never been filled with such horror until this moment.
Kaleb Wren — 06/26/2021
Kaleb gave her that look of are you kidding me right now. "Oh changing the color isn't even the first step. he said as he showed her the scissors he had acquired. "A razor would have been better, but this is all I could find." he said. His tone was deadly serious. @Reine
Reine — 06/26/2021
Reine let out a yelp of fright. "Absolutely not! You are not coming anywhere near my hair with zat!" She pointed to the scissors. There was a sharp pain in her chest, causing her to clutch it and bend over. She was dying. This is what it took. He was going to murder her. He was going to murder her with a botched dye job and hair cut. "Stay back!" She put her hand up to keep him from coming forward. Out of all of the arguments they could have had, this was their first?
Kaleb Wren — 06/26/2021
"Do you have a better idea for keeping you alive?" he asked her. "You cannot go around as you normally would. Unless you are trying to die." he told her.
Reine — 06/26/2021
Her breathing was slightly labored as thoughts ran through rapid-fire through her brain. "I... will do eet. Just... put zose away."
Kaleb Wren — 06/26/2021
"I'll leave it to you. But if it doesn't look right It'll be done my way. I'm not letting them take you." he told her as he walked out of the small bathroom and left her to do what needed to be done.
Reine — 06/26/2021
Reine looked through what he had brought. She pushed the scissors to the edge of the countertop. Those were definitely not going to be used. She walked back to the bedroom and ruffled through her stuff before she found a sleeve of paper with little metal pieces on it. She lifted it up to show Kaleb, "No scissors."
She was not a hairstylist herself but she had spent so much time in the salon that she had an intellectual knowledge that she knew could be applied. But the colors he had chosen. Was he acting blindly?! She was still huffing silently as she found the empty cups for coffee and the stirrers. Reine understood why he hadn't brought her but he could have at least communicated with her.
It took what seemed like forever. The bathroom was a complete mess when she was done. The shower looked like a murder scene. But what came out was a multi-dimensional redhead topped with blond highlights and a darker red on the bottom. She had used her pins to mark out the highlights and lowlights. It wasn't by any means perfect, but she was certain it was better than anything Kaleb could have done. She used the dryer to help style and used the rest of her pins to roll and pin it so it looked like a short bob. She, however, was not going to change until she absolutely needed to.
"When do we need to leave?" She asked as she walked back into his room.
Kaleb Wren — 06/26/2021
Kaleb looked her over. It was an interesting way of blending the colors that he wouldn’t have thought of. He just grabbed colors that didn’t match her natural color. It did the job of altering her appearance slightly. He wasn’t sure if it would be enough, even with her new hairstyle. “I’m going to need to find us away off this planet. I assume you still want to do whatever it is you wanted to come up here for.” he stated. If it was up to him alone they’d be out of there right then and there. But as he said they were going to need to make arrangements. He didn’t dare message Ava and the others. he also didn’t think messaging Sinya would work.
Reine — 06/26/2021
"Oui." She answered. It was really the only thing she was looking forward to. She needed to know the truth. "So I am understanding zat I need to stay in here until you find zees transport?" She dropped her hair tools into her bag. "When do we have to leave by?"
Kaleb Wren — 06/26/2021
"Not sure, like I said really didn't get any details. They are probably afraid of the transmission being intercepted." he told her. "Get some sleep, we'll do your thing in the morning, after we finish that we'll start looking around and see if we can find away off this planet. Even if I have to borrow another ship." he told her.
Reine — 06/26/2021
She started unpinning her hair, letting the locks tumble over her shoulders. If left pinned, it would come out from her sleeping and become a tangled mess which would result in more time needed in the morning. She affixed the pins back on their paper sleeve and grabbed her sleep clothes and went back into the bathroom to change. They were the oddest getup she had ever seen. She was used to silk night shifts and bathrobes. These were a pair of shorts that she thought were too short for modesty sake but they were comfortable nonetheless and something with a hood on it. Why would anyone want a hood?
"Are you going to sleep on the floor again?" The chair that was in this room could hardly be called a chair. And the arm rests looked... sticky.
She walked over to the window to look out it, again. They were in space. She couldn't believe that she was off of her planet. The landscape here was vastly different than anything she had seen on Europa. It wasn't just different... the energy here was different. It was more than just seeing mountains or an ocean. The horizon itself was different. She could see a different face of the actual planet that their moon's orbited. It was darker on this moon, for example. She could still feel the reverberation of breaking the gravitational pull from Europa on takeoff. Kaleb had told her that they would "cruise" to the other moon to give her a chance to absorb everything that was happening. But even now, she couldn't really believe that not only was on another moon but had actually flown in space to get there. The view wasn't beautiful per se but it was astounding.
