RE: Morning Jog (An On Going In Between)
She watched him drink for a moment then redirected her gaze over to the slowly rising sun. He was right that he was slowing her down. In fact, she didn't need the breaks or the slow pace. As she thought of his words, she knew that she could technically explain away his comment by pointing out that she didn't know this new trail and the slower pace helped her explore it better. But she also knew he was clever enough to see through that line. "Well think of it like this. We are both undertaking a very difficult challenge together" her words trailed off as she gave him a soft smile. But her words were only partly truthful. Like most things she often said, it was only half of the truth.

As a child she was taught to never fully trust the other factions. Most were cowards whom would rather leave the work of defending the weak to the Ladder. Rebecca knew that she had to be guarded in what she said around others. She often wondered if what she was told as a child was true. Being here in this place with these two brothers was both confirming and denouncing those childhood tails. It was confusing for her. She turned back towards him as she continued, "not being judgmental will be a huge accomplishment for me. I will need your support. So I figured it would be best if I began to understand who you are. In return, I hope that you will start to better understand me." But there was an unspoken truth behind her words that she hoped he wouldn't dig for.
