A Cake for Lysire

[Unna Hi Chaanu]

"Something I will set upon her..." Unna said, looking down at her box for a moment, thinking of how excited she was to have this new experience with her new friend, but wondering how she will face Lysire now that she knows of their fate. "It is very sad that we cause this, but it sound like you had to..." Unna looked her older self in the eye, as her own eyes shined with tears. "I will have to."

Unna then looked to the four Lysires. "They know that I caused their death, but not why I mourn it. Can you help me to better understand them?" Unna studied the appearance of the oldest version of Lysire.

[Akirapryde]

"It has been my task each time." She said with a nod. "When I was you, I had the same conversation with my future self. I thought I was smarter than they were. I tried to change how things would be. I learned two important lessons. One you can change things. But there are things that can't be changed. Not because it's impossible. But because it's too important for the result to be risked."

She turned her head towards the four creatures, "I will do everything in my power to help you. Just like you will do the same once it becomes your turn to take my place." She paused a moment, "first thing you need to understand is that they don't hear you or see you. I don't know how they manage to communicate but it's like they live in a different medium than we do. They can sense us through the force. Our emotions, our thoughts. They can read us better than we can understand ourselves."

She sighed softly, "as I said. It like they are the entire universe and we are but rabbits on distant worlds. We can look up at the universe all we want. But hardly does the universe glance back at us."

[Unna Hi Chaanu]

"...but I don't think I am smarter than them." Unna said, truthfully. "They know things that I need to know and I can't figure them out. They actually make me feel quite dense, to be completely honest."

"What is within your power? It seems that there are rules, so I feel like I should learn them."

[Akirapryde]

The older Unna turned back to the mother and child as their conversation continued. She laughed a bit as she shook her head, "some questions are always the same." After a moment of silence, "I asked the same question too. It's like when we are in your place the obvious is often over looked. All I am is a guide for you. I can not tell you anything you don't already know."


She motioned back to the Lysires, "I am allowed to tell you their story because they deemed it important for you to know. But beyond that I can only guide you to the truth. Tell you where to look for it. Nothing more."

[Unna Hi Chaanu]

Unna looked at her younger self and her alternate mother. "Perhaps I should listen to what she knows."

"I wonder when they will show me this prophecy."

[Akirapryde]

The older Unna turned go watch also as the image changed to a large group of people dressed in traditional clothing. It was clear that these were the leaders of Unna's homeworld. Before then was a man dressed in a suite flanked by two armed guards. The setting was tense as the man in the suite spoke.

"Gentlemen, my queen respects your wishes to remain out of galactic affairs. All she seeks is the child. Your attempts to hide your world and this child from our queen have all failed. Let us not make this matter any more messy than it already has to be."

One of the leaders scanned the human visitor to their world. "It is clear we failed to shield our world from your queen. We can not see your queen but we know who you are. You and your friends are murders of our kind. You hunt upon us, stalk those like us and murder them," he said.

Another picked up where he left off, "all in the name of purifying the galaxy. Now you want us to hand over one of our own to you to be murdered?"

The human in the suit countered, "if my queen can't have the girl, then she will burn your world to dust. Will you risk your world for the life of one girl?"

Another leader spoke, "we will. Regardless of what you seek. You will not have it here. Go back to your ship and do what you must."

One of the leaders motioned to pause, "I want to ask you something. Do you realize that once your queen is finished burning the galaxy to ash, she will turn on you and kind. That is the fate of darkness, it will turn on its self sooner or later."

[Unna Hi Chaanu]

"All this for me," Unna said as she traced her foot through the ash. "I don't get it. I mean my mother always told me I was special, but why not just hand me over? Because of the prophecy?"

Unna found it hard to not blame herself as she looked around and thought about the recent conversation she had with Gideon after the boy was discovered beaten and covered in feces. She told him that she never wanted to feel responsible for death, but here she was standing on the ashes of an entire planet that died for refusing to give her up, as she had also learned that Lysire would die because of her.

"But they didn't know of the prophecy, did they?"

[Akirapryde]

The older Unna stood there as the vision faded to a dead world once more. "Knowing of something and believing that something is real can often lead to the same conclusion."

She turned to Unna, "as you get closer to a place you will be able to see more clearly. Imagine what you will see when you are standing on this world."

[Unna Hi Chaanu]

"I can't," Unna said. She looked around and took in the dark atmosphere. "It seems like I'm already there. Being there is currently beyond what I can imagine, so I guess I will have to wait and see. Trust that I'm not in any hurry right now. Can you tell me of anything I can do to prepare?"

[Akirapryde]

The older Unna shook her head, "you have had your eyes opened to what is coming. When they feel you need it, we will meet again."

She thought for a moment, "I would keep an open mind and heart. You never know what or who will cross your path. Don't let a difficult journey stop you from taking that first step."

Once me she paused, "you will make mistakes along the way. Learn from them, and don't beat yourself up over them."

"Most importantly, be careful of who you share this knowledge with. Betrayal stings the worse, the closer it is to the heart."
