Chapter One: Deep Space Music

RE: Chapter One: Deep Space Music
Lyona looks up at Kyle as they walk over to her billet. She fingers the USB drive in her hand "I don't know exactly what it is, but I might just have an idea."
She continues walking, memories flooding back to her as she thinks about the sound. She has heard those sounds before. It was some time ago, but she knew the sounds.
As she gets to her billet on the ship she opens the door and heads toward her computer. Plugging the drive into it she boots up her programs to filter out the sounds. "I think that there is another sound. A sound that I think we both have heard before," she looks up at Kyle. She has a look of worry in her eyes "I just need some time to confirm my suspicions."

RE: Chapter One: Deep Space Music
As Lyona booted up her computer he shook his head as she spoke.."Lyona..that was years ago.." he started closing his ears "we were soldier then.." the sounds of weapons fire, the grind of Machines a soft echo in his ears. When he opened his eyes he gazed at her. "Lets pray that it isn't hun" he would say quietly.

They say that in times of war you find or loose your faith..for Kyle that faith was in Lyona..If something else had kept them alive then great for them..but Kyle rarely put stock in something outside of the people in the room. Which number only two.

Kyle would gingerly curl warn rugged but firm finger over Lyona's shoulder " take your time.." he would say calmly

Thorchan looks over at the doctor and alice "My crew isn't doing much, and I am sure they wouldn't mind getting some exercise. How can we help, Alice?"

RE: Chapter One: Deep Space Music
Professor Angsoft nods, "Thank you Captain"

Alice still looked confused but finally recovered, "I need to get my equipment from the station. Do you or a member of your crew mind giving me a ride over to the station than back."

"Captain, she must have her work completed by the end of tomorrow." Professor Angsoft reaffirmed.

Alice nodded, "The time table can be done, but I will have to upload the software upgrades from a access panel on the outside of the ship." she turned to Thorchan, "we can do a space walk to complete the task."

RE: Chapter One: Deep Space Music
Lyona pulls up the files and puts it through a scrubbing program to get what she was hoping would be the answer. The sounds ring in her ears and memories start to come back to her. The thoughts of people that she has lost in battle and the horrible sights that she has seen. She looks up at Kyle "It may have been years, but the memories are still there. We may have been soldiers, but the pain is still real."
Lyona turns back around to the computer. It is still processing the sounds, breaking apart the rhythms of each layer. Her eyes widened. Then there it was. It was faint, but it was there. Lyona stares at the computer screen and with a shaky voice "I know that sound," as she reaches over and turns up the volume. The up and down tone, familiar to anyone who has been on a ship "that is an abandon ship siren and it sounds like the one from the Sckicksal."

RE: Chapter One: Deep Space Music
Thorchan shifts his cigar to the other side of his mouth and says "No problems. Im sure they are just goofing off somewhere. Although I cant say I blame them." He says the second part more as an after thought, one that should have stayed in his head. Then he looks over at the doctor and says "No offence Doc, but me and my crew aren't much for pleasure cruise. You know?" Thorchan excuses himself and gets out of the room as quick as possible. Hopefully, the doctor will go back to his studies and forget that last part. He heads to Lyona's room. He knocks, and pokes his head in. "Oh hey good. Now I can tell both of you. Suit up we are going spaceside. Time for some adventure boys and girls." As soon as he says "girls" his head is back outside and starts to walk away, puffing on his cigar.

RE: Chapter One: Deep Space Music
Alice got up and followed Thorchan as he moved from the lounge. Once he got done explaining what was going on with to Lyona and Kyle, she hurried along behind him like a good little puppy. "Sir, while they are getting ready for the space walk, can you take me over to the Observatory station so I can get my things. We can pick them up upon our return."

RE: Chapter One: Deep Space Music
A young lieutenant in the uniform of a shuttle pilot jogged up to Thorchan and Alice. "Sir and ma'am," he said respectfully. He was a bit short, somewhat scrawny, with pale skin from spending so much time the past two years under artificial lights, whether aboard the station or in the cockpit. He had a helmet clipped to his belt and writing on it identified him as 'Straker, Jake N.' "Can I be of assistance?"

RE: Chapter One: Deep Space Music
Thorchan looks over at the young lieutenant. "Come on greenhorn," he called all lieutenants that. A habit that has gotten in trouble a few times while in the military. It wasn't that he didn't like them, well not completely. He just felt they hadn't proved themselves yet. He had high hopes for this one. He would either be a great officer or a "yes, man". Either way it would work out for him. " get your gear ready and meet me at Alice's quarters." He knew it wouldn't take him long to get into a spacesuit. This was one of the few times he wasn't in one. He laughed on the inside at the irony as he motioned to Alice to lead the way.

RE: Chapter One: Deep Space Music
Alan drifts into the Dropship mechbay, floating towards the stall where his Battlemaster stood. The eighty five ton 'mech towered over the other occupants of the bay. Alan floated up the back of the mech, checking each of the clamps and couplings. The last thing anyone needed was for his machine to come loose in flight. He'd already checked the couplings repeatedly, but the process had become ritual for him during the long uneventful months aboard the ship.

He pulls himself down the front of his 'Mech and opens the cockpit pulling himself inside. It was unusually cramped compared to most Battlemasters, but the smaller cockpit did wonders for optimizing the 'Mech. He ran his fingers over the familiar controls, the computers whirring as they run diagnostics. He flipped through the various systems making sure everything was in orders. Weapons, targeting, heat management, life support, so on and so forth. Satisfied that everything was still in working order he opened the hatch on the cockpit
