Chapter Two: A Whole Old World

[Ice Hellion]

Walking slowly towards his clothes, Adrian couldn't stop himself from looking at the computer used by the nurse.
There was something with it but he couldn't find out what.

Suki shook her head with a disappointing look on her face, “I told you I am blind. I can’t see anything.” Suki had assumed that the question about seeing something strange was directed at her. She leaned in and whispered just over the music, “hey, do you know anything about that guy. Not the one that I bumped in to. You know the other one. The one everyone thinks is a spy.” Suki paused a moment before continuing. “He had a young voice,” she said speaking about Jake. “It’s all pretty exciting, don’t you think?”

Alice giggled in to her hand as she glanced at Jake who was sitting next to her. “I….” she said softly, “ I think I can say with all the confidence that Jake is no spy. He is actually a pilot.” Alice wasn’t sure if she wanted to let Suki know that Jake was sitting at the table with them or continue to let the teenager have the misconception. “Suki, I know the music is loud in here. But Jake is right here next to me.”

Jake blinked a few times. "Wait, what?" He lost his train of thought briefly, confused. Then he understood. "I don't think anyone but you thought I was a spy, miss, sorry," he said to Suki.

Alice laughed a bit, "um well" she said looking a bit sheepish at Jake. "You were a new addition to the group just before we left Tharkad."

Before anyone could say anything else Alice waved her hands, not that Suki could tell, "I am just kidding Jake." she said with a bit of laughter in her voice. It was clear that Alice was trying to take some of the attention off of Suki's mistake.

Alice motioned to a pair of pilots walking up to the Karaoke machine, "are those mech pilots?" she asked. It was clear to Jake that they were not mech pilots. Their flight uniforms told him that they were aerospace pilots. However unlike the Japanese crew of the dropship, some of the aerospace pilots were not Japanese. More so, Jake saw something on the lower arm of one of the pilots that caught his eye.

While the pilot was decked out in a Kuritan pilot's uniform, it was a tattoo that caught Jake's eye. It was a tattoo of a Nova Cat unit, but not just any unit. It was the well known and elite unit called Vision Keshik. It was a strange thing to find that tattoo on a Kuritan pilot.

Jake snorted, then cast an eye over the aeropilots. "Nah, those are fighter jocks..." He trailed off when he saw that tattoo. "Hmph. They have Nova Cats," he said in a low tone.

Eric headed into the mess grabbed a tray and headed over to the table where the three sat. Setting the tray down he took his seat at the table and looked around at the others there. So anything to avoide before I chow down?" He asked poking a suspicious bit of the plate as if testing to see if it were fit for consumption, a jesting smile floating on his face. "Really tought, anything a little less than average?" As he settled in he looked between the three gathered there. for any of them to give their input.

Adrian took his clothes and checked if everything was still there and working.

Making a mental note to find a quieter place to check more in details his computer and software, he headed towards the door and the mess.

Alice nodded as Jake spoke. She turned to look at who Jake was talking about. She watched the male Nova Cat pilot and a pair of females attempt to sing an upbeat song. Their effort was pure, but their singing was much to be desired. She turned backed to Jake, “during the early 3060’s Nova Cats did become deeply involved within the Draconis Combine, but I don’t recall them becoming interwoven within the Combine’s military.”

She paused as Eric set down with a tray of food. She smiled as she watched him ‘play’ with his food. She glanced around the table and noticed that only Eric had decided to try the food. “Sadly, I am not all that hungry. She looked around once more. So now that we are mostly together, what do you all think of what is going on?”

Back in the medical bay, Adrian started to gather his things. He heard the nurse hitting the side of the monitor of her computer and spit something in Japanese at the. With the change of view, he also noticed something else on the desk. Between the monitor and the wall was a bottle of space-sickness pills. As frustration hit her, the Nurse reached forward at the bottle and picked it up. She opened the bottle and took two of the pills. She leaned back and cured the computer once more.

While the nurse was having her own problems, Adrian was happy to see that all of his belongs (minus and weapons) were all accounted for.

Walking towards the mess, Adrian was taking extra care not to move too quickly.

Reaching the mess, he saw the others from sick bay as recognisable as a in-uniform police officer in a bar full of thieves.
Not waiting for an invitation, he took a chair and sat along with them.
