Finding Noor
Ni lounged in the chair next to Bay, resting her head in one hand, her other hand idly spinning a rubber band. She was obviously bored at the computer screen that flashed in front of her friend. Ni asked with a forlorn sigh, "Any luck, Bugsie?"

RE: Finding Noor
Bay absentmindedly typed away at the computer terminal, he chewed on a pen as his fingers flashed over the keyboard.
"Uh-huh," he mumbled without looking up. He continued typing for a few seconds before he caught himself, "Oh! You... you probably want to know what I found out."
Ni's expression spoke for itself.
"Well, I've only been at it for an hour, but somethings definitely seem off. The girl's full name is Rella Noor and she was an intern to Tal Merrick about three years ago. She's currently employed by Nacen Mining."
"On the surface, she seems well off. With her salary, she can comfortably buy a brand new freighter every year and still have enough left over to live extremely well, but her personal account only holds about a tenth of that. It's never risen beyond twenty thousand credits in it's history."
Bay opened a separate window and pointed to a log of transactions, "But, if you look at her records, she's made some really heavy duty purchases in the last two years: over thirty million credits worth of industry materials, tool, and droids and every time, just before she makes her purchase, her employer, Nacen Mining, deposits an equal amount of credits."
Bay opened up a new window displaying her employment records, "When she worked for Merrick, her security card was only used three times in the Senate, but," Bay coughed, "very frequently at Merrick's place of residence and just before their... arrangement ended, her paperwork seems to have been rushed through. They submitted two years worth of evaluations within a month, a month before she left."
Bay pointed to the last section of her employment records, "Her use of her security card also dropped significantly. Only once or twice a day."
Bay scratched his chin, "Let's see, what else? Umm, she calls home pretty regularly and she wasn't particularly a good student of business it seems."
"I'll probably find out more if I keep digging, but my impression is that Merrick had a less than professional relationship with this girl and is currently using Nacen Mining and her as a way to keep his paper trail clean for some hefty purchases."

RE: Finding Noor
Ni leaned in to get a better view of Bay's screen, her cheek brushing his shoulder. Her eyes glazed over as soon as she saw all the numbers but she listened closely to what he was telling her. "Do you think this might be connected to the thing I learned while gathering info on the planet? The thing about him selling weapons to the OPA? I mean, what else would he need all that money and materials for?" she asked as she leaned back in her chair and frowned. "Where is this Dacen Mining place?"

Ni blinked up at Bay, her brow furrowed quizzically. "Um...Not sure what you mean," she answered slowly with a matching whisper, "Overthinking what?"

RE: Finding Noor
Bay sighed, "Look, this guy is clearly scum. But he's also clever. He's taken precautions and he knows the ins and outs of moving money much better than us. Even if we peg him on breaking the law, the lawyers and bureaucrats are going to make sure the worst that happens to him is a slap on the wrist."
Bay sat back, crossed his arms, and looked directly at Ni's eyes, "If it were up to me, we'd just drop this. The effort is not worth the most likely outcome."
Bay took in a deep breath and continued, "But, although we haven't known each other very long, I know you're not going to let this go. So I need to ask you: how far are you willing to go to take care of this man? You know I'm willing to break the rules and if it means taking care of this animal and keeping you out of trouble, I'm willing to break them again."

RE: Finding Noor
Ni's eyes hardened with determination when Bay asked her how far she was willing to go. "Bugsie, there is nothing I wouldn't do to ensure that this man is held accountable. Not only does he abuse his power to hurt and even kill people, he is also making the OPA stronger and inciting war. He is a snake in a rose garden. The sooner we stomp on his head, the safer everyone else will be..." she placed her hand on his shoulder imploringly, "Just tell me what needs to be done. All I need is information and I can do the dirty work. I don't want to put you in a dangerous position."

RE: Finding Noor
"Ni, I have no interest in putting myself in danger, but this," he pointed to the terminal, "This is the real risk here. Snooping around, confronting him, these things will will make him aware of us. It'll increase the likely hood that he'll take measures to defend himself or more likely, deal with us directly."
Bay remained with his arms crossed and matched Ni's determined stare,
"So, what I'm trying to say is this: if we are going to take care of this man. We take care of him. We have everything we need for that already." Bay stayed quiet for a moment, giving great weight to the next words he uttered.
"When I first met Zay, she was buying a power converter for a speeder bike. Apparently, Merrick enjoys racing them and by Zay's own account, he pushes them beyond their limits frequently. It's a dangerous sport Ni. A faulty wire or a poorly mounted fuel injector is all that it would take for him to lose control. He's even recently lost his personal mechanic to some Zeltron's crazy clone rights bill. No one would think it suspicious if the next time he raced he had an accident."
