Durro’s Shuttle

It had been hard for @(Princess) Astra Korraay . There had been a whirlwind of emotions and pain threatening Astra’s mind and her grip. She didn’t bother to join Durro on the flight deck, instead finding a chair in the cargo area. She slumped in her chair, trying to search her feelings, her heart, and the force. As much as she pushed the limits of her mind, her abilities, she couldn’t think of an answer as to how to heal her mother’s mental wounds. A pair of tears washed down her face as she was left with more questions.

She pulled out her data pad and started to write in her journal. Once more a letter to her beloved Sol. There was so much pain her heart. So much doubt about who she was. So many unanswered questions about where her path was going to take her. Normally at the end of such letters, she felt better. However, this time there was no such relief. Instead the stinging pain was still there, and the two tears had been joined by a stream of friends who followed twin paths down her face.

“Pure and total weakness,” Ashanti said with venom on her voice.

Wiping the tears from her eyes, “shut up Ashanti.”

“Go to Seranno and kill them for what they have done to your mother,” Ashanti spat. “Instead, look at you. Weeping like a broken child. KILL THEM!”

“No Ashanti,” Saba said. “Revenge is not the path. Though, this one does believe that justice must be served.”

“Please…..” Astra said trying to seek some calm her mind.

She closed her eyes and did her very best to ignore the voices around her. Voices that had now exploded into a full-scale argument between the two women. Astra heard something in a distant part of her mind. She focused on it, and it sounded almost like birds. There were sounds of water washing up on a beach. She pressed her senses harder, more to escape the argument happening around her. Her mental vision started to take on that grayish taint that she had come to expect from a Force vision.

Astra felt herself shifting in the Force as saw an unfamiliar world. There before her was a woman in black leather muddy boots and black hide pants. Blue long coat with black gloves. There were four silver stars on the collar of the coat. She wore some kind of metal armor under the coat. A strange three-pointed hat. Slung over her back, two large, rusted rifles. On her hip an odd-looking pistol hung in a hide holster. She carried a large, barreled slug thrower in her arms. She had a scar over her left eye and she had dirty red hair.

And that was the core of her appearance, dirty. This woman stood before Astra with an ocean in the background and a smile on her face. But she looked and smelled as if she had never seen a Refresher in her entire life. The woman held out her right hand, but Astra didn’t take her eyes off the antiquated computer like device on the lower part of her left arm. “Hello, stranger, I am Professor Natasha Kerensky.” Without thinking, Astra takes the woman’s hand, and the sudden realization rips her from the vison as she screams in surprise. A scream of surprise that even @Durro Thel-Tanis could hear up in the flight deck. Astra’s hand is covered in dirt, mud and something slimy.

Astra stared at her hand shock and confusion. " M-Master...Master Thel-Tanis" she yealed confusion clear in her voice. She was to afraid to take her eyes of the dirt and slime on her had. She feared it would disappear. "Who are you Professor Natasha Kerensky?" She muttered.

The chairs from the cockpit lower, and Durro slides out of his and turns to face the cabin.
"What is it? What's wrong?"
Noticing the filth on her hands, he asks;
"What did you get into this time?"

Astra looks at him wide-eyed and completely confused. " I-it... A vision  I think I don't know. It happened after I wrought Sol a letter Saba and Ashanti started fighting... I just wanted some quiet and then... There was... Can I show you what I saw" she asked.

Astra shook her head " I don't know what your talking about quinn's father showed me how to send mental images to other people" she said. She shut her eyes focused and sent him the mental picture of the women she saw. " she said her name was Natasha Kerensky. She was standing on a beach on a strange world and I was able to touch her hand next thing I know I was back her with this." She said and held her hand dirty hand out for him to look at.

"Curious. If we had access to a lab, I'd have it analyzed."
Durro digs around the cargo bay, finally finding a few small, multi-use containers among the survival gear. He scrapes some mud into one and slime into another, and seals them as tightly as he can.
"There, that should hold until we can get them analyzed. Perhaps they'll hold a clue for us."
"Until then, I'm going to call Tesara. See how things went on Lanus. Now that we're finished on Korriban, I'd like to alter the markings of this shuttle, make it look less... military. Less Republic. Due to the fighting, I'd thought to take it to Raxus Prime, but we could take it to Baklid II if you want to see how things are going."
He looks thoughtful then adds;
"Or we can head straight for the Unknown Regions. Though this shuttle isn't designed to operate independently; we'll need to get it modified sooner rather than later."
Gesturing around he continues;
"As you can see, we're a little spartan when it comes to bedding. Just jump-seats and hard deck plating."

" But master how can something solid appear from a vision like that. We should be headed to the Unknown, regions but with Quinn headed here. I aren't Jedi supposed to follow the will of the force Master how do we know what the will of the force is" she said quietly.

"I don't know Astra, that's something we'll have to investigate. If you want to stick around the area for Quinn, that's fine. Both Raxus Prime and Baklid II are close by."
He moves to return to the pilot's chair.
"Let me call Tesara, and we'll figure out where you want to go. Baklid II is more dangerous, but closer to Roza, Ava, and Nova. Raxus Prime is safer, but we won't learn what's happened to anyone; aside from what the holonet tells us. Let me know what you want to do."

" If it's alright with out I would like to Join that call it would be nice to hear Tesaras voice again." She said. She looked around finding durro's travel cloke she considers picking it up and throwing it at him. But decided now is not the time to challenge him. She would though maby after they spoke to Tesara and decided on where they were going to go from here.

Then she  changes her mind. She reaches out to the force picks up Durro's travel cloke and throws it at him. " You never answered my question Master," she says.

The cloak catches on the back of the second seat and spills into it. Durro barely glances behind him and asks;
"What question did I fail to answer?"
"You should take your seat if you're going to talk to Tesara."

Astra glares at him she picks up her data pad and takes a seat. " Our about a reactive as Lord Sereno anyway I asked how do you know what the will of the force is" She said and starting to draw wail waiting for him to answer.

"The Will of the Force can be heard when we're calm. At peace. Passive. Usually that means meditation, and I intend to, but while the Will of the Force is important we can make practical decisions without consulting the energy field that binds the universe together. For example, modifying our shuttle to draw less attention and to operate independently; I don't need the Force to tell me that's important."
The chairs lift them into the cockpit and Durro keys on the communicator. The shuttle floats gently in space, orbiting  one of Korriban's seven moons. Durro inputs Tesara's comm information and initiates a voice call.

" I see thank you master but the Vision or whatever it was I think will find the answer in the unknown region. Did she look familiar to you. She made me think of the person Mother drew" she said. She continued to draw waghting to hear if Tesara would answer her mind drifting to Mishka and wandering how she was doing. "No! Oh right!" Exslamed befor remember she could undo marks she did not want when drawing on her data pad. " Sorry master everything is fine just talking to my data pad" she said a little embarrassed.

" Do you think they are ok" She added after a moment.

"That was my first thought as well."
Durro looks thoughtfully at the comm, the soft light blinking as it attempts to make a connection.
"I'm sure everyone is alright. Though I'm thinking I'll try to modify the shuttle on Baklid II. We should be able to get some answers there. Though we'll likely have to disguise ourselves; last I knew Baklid II was taken by the ORA."
He continues waiting for the comm in silence.

" Ava said to stay away from Baklid master, she said not to come back until things calm down. She leand forwered in her seat and reached over Durro's seat to try and put a hand on his shoulder. " Master you said yourself Ava has a plan we may make things worse be rushing back. I know she has some kind of plan she had said she had one well hinted at it" she said.

"I know. I also know the Unknown Regions isn't the best place for an infant. Though I don't like the idea of dragging you away for who knows long and leaving Roza with Ava and Nova indefinitely, especially when Baklid VI is so dangerous."
The light continues to blink.
"What do your feelings tell you; Baklid II, or Raxus Prime?"

" I umm..." Astra said. Her grip on Duro's shoulder tightens. " I'm torn. I know we need to go to the unknown region all the answers are there and that women Natasha. She there was sumthing strange about that vision. It's not safe to bring to a to the unknown reagions. Part of me considered returning to baklid becoming the Queen and taking the system back from the ORA so I can stay with Roza. But..." She said. She let go of durro's shoulder and sat back. She looked at her drawing trying to keep her emotions in check. She was not going to cry again not in front of Durro. She refused to show that kind of weakness now.

" I'm sorry this is difficult Master because I want to return and get my Baby but it's incredibly dangerous to take her to the unknown reagions. She could catch sumthing or get hurt and neither you or I are doctors. But by leaving her with Ava and Nova I risk not seeing her for year's. It hurts to think that Master but I can't drop this I have to find answers. I'm not totally willing to risk her life by taking her on this such." She finally said. It was clear she was not totally sure what to do or which path was right.

Tesara is calling Ryan’s name when her commlink goes off.  It’s Durro.  She steps back from the flight deck door and goes to Durro‘s room to answer the call as Mishka is in hers.
“Hello, Durro.”

Tesara closes her eyes, pulling herself together as if she has been fractured and the only way to speak is to become whole again.  When she is sure her voice will not crack, she speaks.
"No, not dead.  But Mishka's sister did not survive.  Jack and his men were able to get me to her, but she died only a short while later."  She paused, inhaling, exhaling.  "It's possible Jack is also dead.  I could feel him through the force but he was fading, like he was in quicksand.  It could mean he is gone, but it could also mean he is unconscious.  I would rather believe the latter."  She sighs.  "At the moment we are in orbit above Lanus as I was uncertain where Mishka might want to take her sister, but she just told me that she wants to take her to Dubrillion.  So we will be going there next to respect her wishes."    She bites down on her tongue to keep the emotion from her voice.  "What happened with you at StarLight?  What did you find out?"

It was a moment befor Astra attempted to answer the question asked. " siyna's mother is dead she was murdered by one of the guards, and my mother is..." Astra said braking off her statement unable to complete the thought. She stares down at her daring on the data pad and struggles once again to keep control. " I'm not going to cry again" she thinks shouting her eyes.

She took a deep breath.  " No she did not she is stuck in the past around the time I was born he carry a baby doll around. She claimed to have seen visions, they think she was able to look into the minds of one of the four who broke her. She draw some of them. There were glowing eyes in the sky and a destroyed city there was one with a strange female in it as well. A women I saw in a vision I wile ago she said her name was professor Natasha Kerensky." Astra said she was hoping Durro would chime in soon.

Tesara shook her head.  "Astra I think you should write some of this down in a journal or something.  you see so much but it's all fractured and random.  There is likely a pattern to it but you never know if what you are seeing happened in the past or will happen if events continue in a certain way."  She frowned, remembering the injector.  "Have you ever heard of a chemical that makes someone have visions?  Like some kind of Seer enhancer?"  She asks.  "Aneta had one and gave it to me before she died.  I've no idea what to do with it.  She said 'take my sight' but the injector is empty and she has died. I'm at a loss."  She admitted.

“No, it’s a yacht. There’s not really the ability to test it here.  As for Mishka, she’s devastated. But at least she was able to find Aneta and can bring her to be with her family.  She’s the last one alive of their family.”  She sighs.

" I try to when I think about it sometimes I draw images of what I saw but that's when I thing about it" astra said in response to Tesaras statement.

She is released when the topic of conversation changes. " I'm never heard of such a drug. As far as I know you are either born with the ability or not and those that do have it have varying strengths to it." She said quietly. She know that was not every helpfull but that's all she know. " Tesara she is not alone make sure she knows that your  there for her like you were for me your a great healer and I know you can help her through this" She added after a moment.

Yes, I am troubled.  A decision I made got many men killed. And although I am not willing to just give up on the possibility that Jack is alive, it weighs on me.  I know we are not supposed to have attachments, but I do. It’s part of who I am, and one of the reasons that I don’t believe the Jedi path was for me.  I am worried about Astra. I am worried about Ava, Nova, and Roza.  I miss my friends.  My heart aches for Mishka.  I’m unsure how to decipher Aneta’s cryptic messages and how I am connected to the swarm.  Am I to try and stop it or is that a fools quest?  All these things pull at my heart and mind.  I am….tired.”

It had come out in a rush all at once, which wasn’t like her.  Yet it was all true.

Astra worried about Tesara. She understand how her sister felt. She also know it was huge for her to react the way she was. It was not like her. For now though she chose to remain quiet. She was unsure how to comfort her. She wished she were with her and a able to pull tesara into a hug.

"Jack... Pacey?" Durro's brow furrows. "I always thought his name was Colonel."
His voice turned somber as he continues.
"Tesara, the Jedi may forbid attachments but that's never how I taught you. Attachments are good, they make us who we are and give us something to live for, fight for, even die for. The Jedi way is to be selfless, to not let our attachments cloud our judgment. The Jedi as you know them have taken it to the extreme."
There is a long moment of silence before Durro continues.
"Don't concern yourself with the swarm. Learn what you can about them, but my instincts are that they're a natural occurrence, a balancing agent, and shouldn't be stopped. Though  I encourage you to search your feelings and follow the Force."
"Get some rest, Tesara. Meditate and clear your mind of worries and questions. Don't forget to take care of yourself, you're no good to anyone if you break."
Durro smiles and adds.
"I love you like a daughter, Tesara and I'm very proud of you. You've become a greater Force wielder than I could hope to be. I have faith you're where you need to be. Get some rest, and remember that the Force will be with you, always. As will I, just reach out if you need anything."

There is a sense of calm and peace that washes over her as he speaks.  It was exactly what she needed.  "Thank you.  I really needed to hear that.  And I agree that the swarm may not be stoppable, although if everyone I love dies and I am left behind I will be miserable."  She laughs a little bitterly.  "Still....when I saw it in hyperspace...I don't know if Astra told you?  I saw the swarm out in hyperspace.  Anyway, when I reached out with the Force to sense what it was, it was nearly overwhelming hunger.  But, Durro....it was looking for me.  I know that sounds mad, but I could feel it looking for me."  She sighs.  "Maybe I do need to get some sleep."

Tesara blinked in astonishment.  "I'm so sorry, Astra!  I cannot remember who I have told what to.  Please forgive me.  Yes, Ryan saw...."  She frowns, trying to think of a polite way to say it.  "Well Ryan saw something in hyperspace that he mistook for...something...and told me about it.  When I saw it, it was huge, a moving blob of sorts.  It freaked Ryan out a bit to think I believed him and saw it too.  He thinks it was a spice trip.  Poor guy.  Anyway...yes.  And Aneta also said the swarm was hungry.  Hungry might be an understatement."

Tesara chokes on a laugh despite the intensity of the situation.  "Yeah I don't really want to refer to it as that again.  But yes, that was the sensation.  But I am not so egotistical to think it was only seeking ME.  Perhaps it was just a feeling, but I would prefer not to overlook it."

"This shuttle isn't a long range vessel, so I've been debating between Raxus Prime or Baklid II. Both have salvage yards, so we can modify the shuttle. After that, we'll head for the Unknown Regions."

" Goodbye Tesara stay safe" Astra said. She grins at Durro. He raised an eyebrow he was interested or she thought he might be. " I said I was considering the option master. I don't want to return to the order not after what they did to my mother. I would like to be a jedi still but your beliefs are very different from what I was thought.  Walking away from everything I know and have been thought will be difficult." She poused shaking her head. She had already made up her mind on this but she still have some reservations. " Well actually I had already made up my mind to ask you I just was not sure who best to approach the subject. I don't want to be part of the order here anymore they are capable of so much harm. It heartbreaking to see. Please teach me I wish to learn more and continue a Jedi path" She said quietly. She started down at her datapad. She was a bit afraid of his answer.

"Goodbye Tesara, stay safe."
The communicator light blinked out as the connection was ended. Durro listens as Astra makes her plea, and then he is silent for a moment.
"In the ancient times, before the Jedi Order as we know it, it was common practice for Masters to have many pupils, to train four or five students to knighthood at the same time. The students would learn as much from each other as from the Master."
He grins mischievously and adds,
"I suppose I'll know what that's like after all. I would be honored to complete your training."
He glances at the navicomputer, still completing its calculations.
"Looks like we're stuck together for the time being. I'm not sure who I feel more sorry for; you, having me for a Master, or me having you for an apprentice."
The smile is evident in his voice.

Astra smiled excitedly. " thank you, master. I just hope im a worthy apprentice." Astra said. She saved the drawing she had just finished and set her data pad to read-only mode. " It will be exciting to write to Sol about this" she added with a huge grin.

" Master how do you keep you emotions under control" she asked. That was probably a good place to start because she know it was a huge problem for her.

Eventually, you will be able to accomplish this 'in the moment', almost a moving meditation."
"When I'm confronted with an emotional situation, I take a step back and breath. I acknowledge my emotion, acknowledge how it makes me feel, and then I let it go. Let it pass from me with an exhale of breath. Just those few seconds are enough to temper an emotion, even if it doesn't fully go away. With a clearer head and a more 'detached' mindset, I'm able to make the decision I should be making, rather than one guided by raw emotions."

Durro's head falls just a little.
"Yes, it is what I did. I felt anger, at the Jedi of Serenno for the evil they committed. Hopeless, that the condition is irreversible and incurable; and sadness, at the loss of everything your mother was working towards, the woman she had become in the time since your birth. In the moment, I maintained my connection to the Force, acting in moving meditation detached from myself. Like playing a game in third-person, or reading a holo-novel about someone else's life. Even now, the emotions are still there; anger, hopelessness, and sadness. Now, I must let go. What's happened has happened and it can't be changed, no amount of rage will undo what's been done."
Durro inhales slowly, a meditative breath. He exhales slowly but forcefully, a demonstration of meditative breathing often used with younglings and initiates.
"They're still there, but in the background. My mind is clear, and I'm focused on the present; what we need to do now. Do you understand?"

" I want to scream and punch a wall. I even know how to comply destroy the serenos I could do it so esaly but that's a dark path I am not willing to go down." She took a deep breath trying to settle and focse on the present. Unforchunitly the emotional turmoil was a bit to much for her to ignore. So she she was silent for a long time she settled into a meditative state slowly starting to prices the emotions and imagined the floating away down a stream. " Master I do understand. I just hope I can keep that in mind next time we deal with sumthing emotional. " She said finally having calmed somewhat and retained a bit of control.

"It'll take practice." Durro agrees. "The technique was taught to all Jedi, though I truly 'mastered' it on Lanus. It's not easy, and you will mess up. Like anything  else, you take your guilt and shame, recognize them, and let them go. Those emotions can't change what's been done, learn the lessons and move on."

" There's a reason they don't want me to become Lady Sereno. I have a came to the title and it's responsibly's as Lord Sereno'ss only child. It would be very easy to destroy them from the inside It is just a matter of putting an end to the family console. But that's not sumthing I want or would ever do.  Destroying my Fathers family will not fix my mother and It not why he chose me to inherit his crystal.  " she said. She was completely calm at the moment. It was pretty clear that her thought was not well planed and was sumthing she had come up with wail she was very angry. She was not angry at the moment though.

" What victory I just admitted I wanted to end my fathers family," she said bursting into a fit of giggles. She missed  Duro's point. After she settled down she said " I think missed sumthing there. But it did help to talk about it Master, what I have been fealing." she said. She looked back at her datapad. She grinned " Master did you stugle to learn to control your emotions as well" she asked.

"That's alright; you won't learn everything in a day."

"I did, actually. I had quite the temper when I was a youngling, and only slightly less as a padawan. I spoke my mind and could often be goaded into hasty action, especially via anger. Still, I did learn. Eventually. As I said, it was the quite jungles of Lanus that really brought out my development in the Force. It's amazing what one can accomplish when all distractions are stripped away."
