Given the nickname of Marten early on due to her unyielding compassion and courage. Her nickname comes from the small Pine Marten that inhabits much of Northern Scotland, which demonstrates the same qualities. Her godparents are Kennard and Selina Campbell. There are no official school records for her due to the fact that she was home schooled. Seònaid or Seona as she prefers, showed remarkable skills in science and mathematics at an early age. By the age of seven she was solving differential equations. By age twelve, she was mastering Third-order nonlinear partial differential equations. Her love for science and mathematics was seconded only by her love for music.
At the age of nine she picked up violin for the first time, at her tenth birthday she played a piece from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart,Violin Concerto No. 5 in A, 2nd movement with near perfection. Sadly, only a handful on close family members were there to hear the private concert. Shortly after that birthday concert, there was a major disagreement within family members when it was decided by family elders that she be moved the remote sea side
village of Torridon, Scotland. Once there she would be raised by relatives and she would not be allowed to return Edinburgh. It would be this small sea side village that would change her life for ever.
During the rest of her childhood years and in to her teenage years, she would spend much of her time reading and learning from some of the best teachers of history. Her foster family spared no expense at buying the best learning software on the market. During this time, her natural born sister, Maura MacConnell (25yo at the time) filed a custody law suite in Federation Courts. Clan Campbell funded twelve attorneys to fight the custody case. The fate of then fourteen year old Seona's was decided when Maura MacConnell failed to support her case against the numerous motions filed against her petition. Seona MacConnell would remain in the custody of her current foster parents. Maura would be deployed with the Starfleet Marines.
The Court did ordered Seona to take part in more public activities and allowed for her social development as well as her remarkable education. Based on statements she made later in life, her most fondness memories were roaming the Torridon Hills at top her horse and with her favorite violin. She said that she would just play well in to the night or until estate servants of her foster parents would come searching for her. It was in these very hills she met the man who would steal her heart. During the summer of 2369 she met a young ensign (Aongus Mor Macdonald) who was refresh from Starfleet Academy and soon to be assigned to the
USS Odyssey. The pair met often during that summer and built a strong bond. Seona went to her foster parents and asked if she could marry the Ensign and join him aboard the
Odyssey.
Elders of Clan Campbell were called to Torridon to discuses the request. It was the first time that the Clan Elders met in person in nearly fifty years. In attendance was Seona's parents, her sister and her godparents. At the urging of her godparents, Seona's request was rejected based on a three century old clan feud with Clan Donald. There were even some Clan Elders who didn't buy the half hearted explanation and demanded to know the real reason why. The debate would never be resolved as the situation changed. Seona was devastated by the news but it was Aongus who begged her to honor her Clan's ruling. While the this secret debate raged within the Clan Council it was decided that for her own safety, Seona was to be moved to Mars where she would live with her godparents. However, in late 2370, the
USS Odyssey was destroyed by Dominion forces. Ensign Macdonald was one of many listed as KIA. It broke Seona's heart that the man she loved was gone.
The night before she was to be moved, she ran away from home. She changed her name to Seònaid Melville as well as her identity. Her foster parents as well as her Clan Council attempted to locate her during the following years. They even hired a group of bounty hunters to explore tips that she was on other worlds. Seona instead joined the Starfleet Marines. She did everything possible to hide who she really was. However it didn't take long for her sister, Maura, to discover where Seona was. In keeping the secret, Maura took personal interest in watching over her little sister from the distence.
Seona's Starfleet career was nearly cut short when her first test came back with a remarkable score. Even the supposed unanswerable question was answered correctly. The accusation of cheating was raised. Seona claimed it was a computer glitch and nothing more. She asked to retake the test and passed with a score that was more in line with her class. While her test scores were high, they were not remarkable. Each of her scores were between 92% and 94%. Her skills with communications and computers won her an early placement as a tech specialist. While she could have easily transfered in tot he Officer Ranks, Seona choose to remain an enlisted. Seona and her violin became a hit among her fellow cadets as she tried to put the past behind her. The loss of Ensign Macdonald had effected her deeply and showed in her personal logs.
She graduated with honors from Starfleet Marine Academy near the top but lacked the scores to choose the top assignments. However someone had other plans for her. Seona was assigned to the elite Delta Company, 10th Recon Battalion. A posting that upset the top three members of her graduating class. They protested the assignment through official channels but it was not changed. The assignment was carried out at the personal requests of the 10th Recon Battalion Commander, Colonel Moffett and 3rd Marine Commander, General Abramo. Her family history was never exposed as she continued to serve under her assumed name.
While the posting was at personal requests, it was Seona's skill in communications and computers that secured her place in this elite unit. During her time with this elite unit, she demonstrated a knack for picking up languages, fast. It was noted that she could hear a conversation for a short while then became to speak it. With each continued conversation her mastery over said language would became more apparent. It wouldn't be long before she could speak it as a native. Her fellow marines often joked that she was the unit's own walking translator. Her love for math never stopped growing as she continued her studies in to quantum mathematics. She was asked by a number of her fellow marines why she was not in Starfleet where her skills could be more useful. She laughed off the question and answered from the heart. "Then who would look after my brothers and sisters" referring to the men and women in her company. While her skills were never question as being the very best in the Marines, she never once wrote a paper or did anything to attract attention to herself. She would often remain hidden in the shadows.
Her career was just taking off when she was reprimanded for being involved in a fist fight with a Klingon by the name of W'Kanga from the House of Varnak. The pair had gotten in to a fist fight just outside of Quak's on Deep Space Nine. The fight created a scene along the Promenade. The station report was filed by W'Kanga, in that report he claimed he was attacked without provocation. The case almost removed her from the units next mission, which was the upcoming invasion of Velos. Against the demands of station security, her released was ordered by Admiral Ross himself. Her role was listed as mission critical due to her computer and communication skills. W'Kanga was escorted to the station security office by his commanding officer where he dropped the assault charges. Due to lack of evidence and a complaining witnesses, case was dropped by station security. However a reprimand was filled in Seona's permanent records. This would be the only blemish on an otherwise spotless and heroic record.
During the Battle of Velos, Corporal Melville along with a pair of other marines were able to infiltrate the heart of the Cardassian Planetary Defense Command. With he base crawling with more guards than expected, it seemed as if the mission was going to fail. Instead of giving up the mission, she pushed forward with her mission. Despite unusually high resistance, the small group were able to find a way to complete their mission through unconventional means. Unable to reach the main computer access terminals, she used a replicator to access the base's mainframe and upload their virus. At great and personal risk, they were able to upload a virus in to the Defense Mainframe. This virus was able to completely disabled the Velos Defensive Array within seconds. The small group then was able to escape the base without being detected by the Cardassians.
Later that day, Corporal Melville was able to hack her way in to the Velos VII interment Camp's security systems and allow for the liberation of the POWs being held there. During the battle, Corporal Melville maintained communications with support ships calling in support fire and coordinating evacuations. Recordings of her final transmissions revealed how close the battle had grown to the Corporal's location. The conflict grew so close to her location that Cardassian voices could be heard over her own mic. Regardless of the personal threat, Corporal Melville never broke her composure or her communication link with Starfleet ships in orbit. Her reports and information provided for a steady stream of fire support that covered evacuation shuttles.
Sometime during the final hours of the battle, Corporal Melville's communication system went silent. It was at that moment that Starfleet officially noted as the last hours of Delta Company. Recording of those last communications indicated a brutal battle which at one point devolved in to hand to hand combat. Right before the communication link died, it was assumed that a Cardassian has attacked Corporal Melville in hand to hand combat. Some time during the struggle the communication link was damaged. Corporal Melville's fate along with a large number of other members of Delta Company would not be known till after the war.
After the war, a number of shallow graves were discovered along with a hand written account by the unit commander of the final hours of the battle. It was learned that the battle raged hours after the communication link was destroyed. However Corporal Melville and a number of other marines didn't survive till the end. According to the account, Corporal Melville was killed when a pair of pulse grenades landed in her fox hole. The blast ended any hope of repairing the badly damaged communication uplink.
Within one of those shallow graves, a previously unidentified burned body was identified by a Marine Personnel Data Chip to be that of Corporal Melville. It wasn't then after the funeral of Corporal Melville that her real identity was exposed. An unnamed sourced identified the body as Seònaid MacConnell of Torridon, Scotland. She was laid to rest in the hills that she loved so much. During the ceremony, a reproduction of her favorite violin was placed in her hands just before her casket was sealed. Corporal Melville (Seònaid MacConnell) was posthumously awarded the Starfleet Medal of Valor.

On Stardate: 53843.47, it was learned and updated that Seona Melville did not die on Velos as it was originally reported. In fact she assumed the identity of Dolores Traver who did actually die during the Velos operation. It is unclear as to why Seona assumed this identity however she sought treatment at Starfleet Medical on Earth after the war. Some months after she had returned to Earth she attempted to assassinate Admiral David Tate while he was at a official function on Earth. After this attempt failed she escaped Starfleet Medical. During her escape, she is responsible for the deaths of the transport crew and other passengers aboard.
On Stardate 53829.04 she attacked the
USS Thunderchild. This launched a series of attacks aimed at Starfleet ships belonging to Starfleet's 4th Fleet. Her four day rampage of terror came to an end on Deep Space Nine where she was finally apprehended by base personnel. However a surprise attack carried out by rebel Cardassians with the aim at assassinating the Cardassian leadership gave her the distraction she needed to escape Deep Space Nine. Starfleet Intelligence has launched a wide ranging manhunt for the fugitive. Seona Melville is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous. Her whereabouts are still unknown and her motives are still unclear.
