Brush Fires Game Event (1-8-17)
Brush Fires

The Mid Rim world of Honam IV was devastated by what could only be described as nature at its worse. The super volcano laid waste to two thirds of the worlds land mass and left the remaining reaches of Honam uninhabitable. The destruction of cities and communities was on a scale rarely seen by the Republic. What would have been a truly devastating disaster for the mid rim world, passed with no loss of life. This miracle was delivered thanks to the efforts of the brave men and women of the Jedi Cruiser Vengeance and six other Jedi relief ships.

As the last refugees were being boarded, Knight Auro Syrdash found himself watching the awesome might of nature being unleashed from the bridge of the Vengeance. A mixture of terror and breathtaking beauty played out as the crust of the world was slowly ripped apart. A sight that demands internal reflection, reflections that mirrored the same forces back on Coruscant and the Republic Senate. Knight Syrdash couldn’t help by see a comparison.

In the wake of such destruction, Unna, Auro’s most trusted advisor, had some good news. She had a vision, that his beloved Albek, Pablo-Jill. The vision failed to give her the details of where or when, but she was sure that this event would take place soon. Within the vision, she saw that an official with the Jedi Order would present Pablo-Jill to Auro. Searching the vision for clues, she could determine that the name of the person who turned Pablo-Jill in to the Jedi was a being named Enola Emoc.

With the would be major disaster on the Mid Rim World of Honam IV behind them, our valiant party has been ordered to Doldur Sector. Nestled between the Dragonflower Nebula and Corellian Run, the sector has become a hot bed of pirate activities. Per local authorities from the Mid Rim worlds of Druckenwell and Doldur the pirates have hit soft targets and made attempts to remain clear of major installations. Reports put the strength of the pirates between four and six modified medium freighters.

Despite the scope of the pirate activities has been limited only to this sector and their limited numbers, the Chancellor has felt that the recent increase in activities warrants sending her son and the elite Vengeance to address this issue. Our party and their allies from the Vengeance has been ordered to locate the secrete base the pirates are using and eliminate it. They have been further ordered to capture the pirate leaders and bring them to justice.

Back on Coruscant, political enemies of the Chancellor have used the latest deployment of the Vengeance as a political weapon. They have been attempting to paint the Chancellor as a warmonger, and this latest deployment only helps support their claims. Many of the Chancellor’s political enemies have reached out to the Jedi Grand Council in hopes of tempering the Chancellor’s actions.

They cite the fact that the Vengeance, which is part of the 10th Republic Division, is member of the Jedi Peacekeeping Force and its unlawful for the Chancellor to directly command the ship through her son, Knight Auro Syrdash. Ra Cuth, the Senate’s Vice Chair and major political rival to Chancellor Syrdash, has ordered the Senate Ethics Committee to review the Chancellor’s actions.

Allies to the Chancellor within the Senate and most importantly within the Senate’s Security Council has continued to defend their Chancellor. Because of this, the Vice Chair has called on several no confidence debates against select members of the Security Council in an attempt to have them removed from their powerful posts. Should half of these members fall in a no confidence vote, the Chancellor would find herself in real threat of losing her post.

Despite cries from select members of the Senate and the Vice Chair himself, the Jedi Grand Council, under Grand Master Dooku leadership has remained politically silent regarding the Chancellor’s use of the Vengeance and its crew. Publicly he has shown support for friend and former Jedi. Though privately, strains between the two are rumored to exists.

A major backlash was felt after the Senate’s Naval Subcommittee announced plans for a naval wide refit of the Republic’s two thousand Venator class Star Destroyers. The multi-trillion credit plan would refit the Republic’s nearly brand new navy in to the Venator II Class Star Destroyers. The plan would call for an increase in taxes which has not been received favorably on Outer and Mid Rim worlds.

As the Republic Senate enters in to debate over this new plan and the tax increase that are to come with them, more protests have been seen on a widening scope. Nightly news reports across the Core worlds, Inner Rim and Colonies show tens of millions of protesters violently protesting the Chancellor, the Republic and the Jedi. Most shocking was the outbreak of protest on Honam III shortly after the Vengeance departed. Three Republic Aid workers were seriously injured as a result of these protests.

These reports on Galactic News has left many in the Core, Inner Rim and Colonies to question the validity of those protests and who is really responsible for the recent surge in protests. President of the Commerce Guild, Shu Mai and very vocal critic of the Chancellor, was attacked by refuse hurling protesters just outside the Senate while visiting the Republic Senate. Protesters screaming chants “stop stirring unrest,” forced Shu Mia to cut her visit to Coruscant short. Offices belonging to Senator Merglyn Caveel of the Outer Rim world of Olivan were vandalized.

Admin Stuff
We are meeting this Sunday at 5pm. I am this day and am available for earlier meet up times. I am also available to help with rides should anyone need it. Please contact me no later than Sunday by midday to coordinate transportation or early show up. I am also not setting an end time. I will continue to run the game as long as I have players available.

Unna, I know that you had plans to do some farseeing between games. I am still open for that, all you need do is contact me and we can talk about the results of your farseeing.

Strong in the Force House Rule. Remember that Auro and Duncan both get this feat free thanks to their random drawing during the last game. If anyone is going to take this feat, they must take it (at a cost of two current feats, subject to my approval) prior to the beginning of this coming game. I know that nearly everyone in the group has talked about taking the feat. I must warn everyone, that this is a double-edged sword. Because these characters are strong in the force, taking this feat will mean that earning dark side point could become easier. Watch out for actions that are fueled by strong emotions or attempts to bend the Force to YOUR Will.

I will be posting an Intermission within the next few days. Please make sure you read it. Auro, due to time restraints, I am open to talking via Text or phone regarding the nature of this intermission.

I am going to start the next game as the Vengeance arrives at the Druckenwell system. There will be no going back in time. Please make sure that you get your between game activities done prior to the beginning of the upcoming game.
