A Darker Place (Game Event: 04-06-17)
A Darker Place
Baku Spaceport
World of Fray
Outer Rim Territories
Date: 2919 AOK

We last watched our heroes take a long trip to former Jedi Academy located on the outskirts of the ruins of Fray’s former capital. The trip was as enlightening as it was troubling. The party learned the depths of the corruption that had plagued this little unimportant Academy and the hurricane of trouble that corruption created for the Outer Rim. They learned how strong the bonds were between Graff and his Saberblades as well as how those bonds were created. For the first time, they started to understand their enemy. But the most shocking of discoveries was the darkside induced nightmare that the group suffered during their one night at the Academy.

Acting against the suggestion of the old grounds keeper, the party elected to sleep the night on the grounds of the Academy. That night Ashla, Duncan, and Jaden all suffered from a horrific nightmare. During the darkside tainted dream, the three Force Users watched in horror as the murders of the facility, which took place over a year and a half ago, manifesting its self in their nightmares. To make the event even more traumatic for our heroes, this dream was from the perspective of the killer. Each of them, felt what the killer felt. Smelled the blood, the knife cutting across the throats of the victims. Every sense was assaulted during this horrific dream. They each relived the steps of the killer as the killer slipped in to faculty's barracks cloaked in darkness and murder all fifty-two faculty members of Fray’s Academy.

The killings were silent and swift expect for one. It was the last of the murders to take place and the one that was the most unsettling. The murder of Master Amerex was filled with such anger and hatred that consumed much of the dream. This murder took the three forces users in to depths of pain, darkness that they only feared was possible. At the end of the brutal murder and the nightmare, the three were left with no doubt that Trysta Shiloh was solely behind the murders and the burning of the Jedi Academy. The dream left all three completely spent and unrested.

But it wasn’t only our Force Users that had a strange dream that night. Tod, the party’s own resident researcher and biotech Guru, was visited by Lysire. Ever cryptic, Lysire message warned that Darkness was seducing an ally of the Light away. She also told Tod that the party must return to the ‘Library of those who walked the stars before’. Only there could they find a path that would lead them to the origin of the Cosmic Force. She told Tod that on that path, the party would find an ally in their coming war with Darkness.

Troubled and suffering lack of sleep, the group boarded their air speeder and returned to Baku, the unofficial Capital of Fray. The land scape was desolate and vest tracks of forest were all dead. Along the way, and at the behest of Tod, the group set down at a river that cut through a dead forest. Tod took her samples and found that not only were there traces of wide spread defoliate in the water, she also discovered radiation REMs at levels between two hundred and four hundred. Tod warned that these levels were much higher than toxic levels. The party explored up the river towards what they thought was a nearby city. They discovered a city straddling the river. It appeared to be a River Port City that had been laid to ruin by bombing. There Tod found radiation levels that were nearing a thousand REM's.

The radiation wasn't new for Tod. The heavy weapons used on Olivan produced similar effects. The alarming fact was what the levels told her about the scope that they were used. Much of this contamination should have been decayed by this time, if the attacks took place a year and a half ago. The fact that they weren’t indicated that the bombings across Fray were far more intensive then reported via official media. As the group boarded their air speeder, Tod gazed across the river to see s herd of dead beast laying along the banks of the river. A visual legacy of the force used to bring Fray back under control.

Back at the city of Baku, the party made their way to the Jedi Temple there, more commonly known as the Baku Temple. While the city it's self hasn’t changed, the contrast couldn’t be ignored. The death and destruction that Fray suffered seemed to slowly come to an end as the speeder approached the city. It was if Baku was a completely differ world from Fray. No signs of background radiation, or other contaminates. The water supply was heavily filtered. Even the Baku's many fountains used water pure enough to drink.

The Baku Temple was a much-needed relief for the party. All of them, including Tod, found the waiting hot shower and soft bed to be a much-appreciated reception. After a healthy meal, fresh clothes, the party settled down for a comfortable sleep. But sound rest would avoid them. Far behind the shimmering glow of the shield, the world of Fray called to them. There was so much more to discover. And for our heroes, that fact bothered them more than they wanted to admit. After a night sleep and long hours of meditation our heroes on Fray were ready to face a new day on this once war torn world.

The following day, Duncan searched the official roles for the Academy and learned that he could identify around twenty former cadets from the Fray Academy that were not Saberblades. It was safe to assume that when Trysta freed Jenna and Frija, they made sure to gather up the cadets before burning the academy to the ground. It was clear that they were building an army of trained force user, but Duncan couldn’t shake the question of how many went willingly and how many were actually kidnapped.

This revelation was a major eye opener for the party. It meant that the locals had nothing to do with the events at the Academy. Which was one of the events that sent this world in to a tailspin. It left a large question regarding the assassination of the former Lady Baku. The catalyst to the crisis that Fray now faced. The report indicated that Lady Baku was attacked in her apartment by an unidentified attacker. That her throat had been cut while she attempted to leap from the balcony. A cut that was not an easy task to make. Unfortunately, that meant that the party would have to do some down and dirty detective work.

Even Tod was able to do some research on Frija. An orphan, adopted in to a wealthy and prosperous family. Before Fray, she truly wanted for nothing. According to her official Jedi Personal File, Frija is listed as a gifted Force User whose talents exceed all expectations. She was driven to success by a deep desire to over achieve. While she never joined the Saberblades, she was one of their biggest fans, attending all of their matches. Instead Frija joined the Air Ball Team and became its captain. According to her psychological profile it is suggested that she joined the Air Ball team simply because she knew she couldn’t become captain of the Saberblades.

The second after they returned to the Jedi Temple, Duncan was approached by a human dressed in a long flowing black and red cape. His flashy military uniform did much to conceal the fact that this man was a highly-trained marine. Duncan noticed the worn tattoo on his lower arm as they shook hands. The introduced himself as Marshal Enga, Head of the Guardian Exports private security force. Being the official commander of the Tenth Division, Duncan and his supporters were invited to a guided tour of the Security Force’s training facility here in Baku.

During the tour, Duncan got to relive the days of combat training with the Antarian Guard back at the Coruscant Temple. The party learned that Guardian Exports had been recruiting local young men and women in hopes of fostering closer ties with different local powers across Fray. It was a program that Master Stephens had been proud of due to the number of recruits being brought in by Guardian Exports. According to Marshal Enga, “Local young men and women were learning how to protect their world against all threats and to serve the Republic at the same time.”

Tod found the wide range of advanced technology used to train the young soldiers to be even above her standards. Though that fact really didn't make much sense to Tod. Why spend so much on such an advanced facility for a backwater world like Fray. In contrast, Marshal Enga bragged about how much Guardian had invested in to Fray already and was going to invest even more in the coming years. From what the party saw, Guardian's private security force was very well equipped with the latest in Republic Technology. Again, something that didn’t make complete sense.

It was Tod that asked about the local water supply and the contamination. Marshal Enga said that Guardian was selling water to the locals at below cost. He added that the Republic was subsidizing the rest of the cost of providing for the welfare of the local people. Once more as a sign of how much Guardian was reaching out to their local partners in this world’s time of need. Tod was not satisfied but she was cut off from further comment.

Like a skilled politician, Marshal Enga dodged Tod’s further attempts to derail the tour as he pointed to the first graduating class. He once more bragged that their training started a year ago, and they will soon be ready for security missions. The large formation of three hundred soldiers were marching towards the group. They appeared very professional and well trained. Marshal Enga explained that this group’s missions would include protecting locals from criminal gangs, patrolling areas of population and protecting Fray’s most vital resource, the fuel fields.

It was then he summoned over the group leader. The cadet commander, called the formation to a stop and rushed over. “Cadet Lieutenant Eaton Reporting SIR,” the young man spoke loudly. Duncan found it strange that their training was a yearlong. Antarian Guard training was the most extensive training in the Republic and theirs were only an average length of eight months. More than that, it was the look in Cadet Lieutenant Eaton’s eyes that bothered Duncan. Duncan noted that beyond fanatic loyalty reflecting in the young man’s eyes. Marshal Enga smiled and called for the young lieutenant to recite his general orders.

With a loud boisterous voice the man spoke;
“My first General Order, SIR, I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved.”

“My Second General Order, SIR, I will obey my special orders and perform all of my duties in a military manner.”

“My Third General Order, SIR, I will report violations of my special orders, emergencies, and anything not covered in my instructions, to the commander of the relief.”

Marshal Enga smiled with pride, “a year ago, he was only a farmer who barely had mastered basic. Today, he is the pride of Guardian Exports.”

Tod noticed the collar, “is that an injection collar?”

Marshal Engage, “open your blouse and pulled up your shirt soldier.” Without even a thought the young man obey the order. His upper torso revealed a network of tubes and injection points across the front of his torso. It was clear that the tubes and points were elsewhere on the man’s body also. “This is the TS X3 system, or Tomorrow’s Soldier. Guardian picked up the technology when we acquired a prison in the Mid Rim.”

“They used the chemical to keep very violent criminals subdued and obedient, we with the help of our partners at BioMed Technologies, we were able to reverse engineer the compound. We built a base line that allowed us to create a soldier who is stronger than any droid and faster in reflexes than any Jedi. More importantly, more loyal than both.” He turned to Duncan with pride dripping from his lips, “don’t take this the wrong way, but Lieutenant Eaton here is your replacement.”

(OCC: I am leaving it there to try something new. Players involved may, at their wish, offer up questions or observations in this thread. Remember that all comments are considered canon. That said, these comments need not be in role play form. Remember that the game will start four days after this tour. But that doesn't mean you can’t explore this deeper at a later date.)

On Coruscant, Auro and Unna were greeted as returning heroes. The Chancellor, herself, met them on the landing platform. Though there were no large gathering of people, there were many media outlets trying to get a good image of Lord Sembla, the hero of Olivan. Despite members of the Senate waiting for them, Auro and Unna had a very private dinner and evening with the Chancellor at her private residence. During that meeting Auro met the woman his mother chose for him to marry. A prefect specimen of Verk nobility. She was beautiful, witty, smart, and well prefect.

The next day, Unna and the Chancellor spent a private morning shopping while Auro got a chance to better get to know his betrothed. While both Unna and Auro had a great time, it was the afternoon events that everyone was excited for. It was the official promotion of Lord Simbla that everone wanted to watch. Broadcast across the Republic, everyone got a chance to watch Lord Sembla, assume command of the legendary 501st Legion.

It was an afternoon filled with speeches and commendations. But the Chancellor wasn’t finished with her surprises for her son. Members of her leadership coalition from within the Senate presented Auro with a new set of armor crafted to be worn by a Warrior Jedi. The armor was perfectly suited and fitted for Auro. (OOC: See Jedi Battle Armor, Power of the Jedi, Page 550 At the end of the ceremony, Lord Sembla was named Defender of the Republic.

That night, Auro had a dinner date with his betrothed at her apartment. Once more she showed off her skills at being prefect. There was simply nothing Auro could find about her that he could point at and give reason for not marrying her. Even in her prefect mannerisms, she wasn’t over baring or pushy. She held intelligent conversations with him about a wide range of topics including the Force. At the end on the evening Auro was faced with a very real choice. To continue to court this young woman who was older than he was. Or to defy his mother and refuse to marry her. A choice that rested heavily on his heart.

Jaden raised a questioning eyebrow when he heard the Marshall's quip of Lieutenant Eaton and the other soldiers of the so called "Tomorrow's Soldier" program being the replacement. He asked, "What do you mean he's our replacement, Marshall?"
