Ashla showed unique gifts in terms of the Force. By request of the family, Member of the High Council, Master Plo Koon, interviewed the child. He discovered that Ashla’s connection to the Force was much stronger than first expected and had ‘a remarkable destiny’ within the Order. Master Koon reported that her future within the Order was remarkable. He sensed that she would play a critical role in a crisis that was to come. Her acceptance was rushed and she was due to enter the Coruscant Academy the following year.
Sadly, Ashla was stricken with a rare illness that left her mind crippled. The most gifted healers of the Order could not undo the damage done to Ashla’s mind. After months of research, it was deemed that young Ashla had been poisoned but the Healers couldn’t identify the poisoning. What they could identify it was if her connection to the Force was limited and her mind was locked at that of a young child. At the same time of Ashla’s poisoning, her parents were tragically killed in a speeder accident.
At special request of Grand Master Syrdash, young Ashla was placed under the care of Garda-Tu-Ka, A close friend to the Order and trusted companion of Master Koon. Powerless to do anything about her poisoning, Master Koon continued to watch over young Ashla as her mind continued to degrade. It appeared that Ashla’s future with the Order and connection to the Force were diminished before it every really begin.
During the years that followed, Jedi Healers tried to halt the effects of the poisoning with no success. They discovered that whatever the poisoning that had effected Ashla, it had never been recorded in the entire history of the Jedi Order. It was because of this affliction, that drew healers from across the Order to Coruscant and to Ashla. All left equally stumped and no new developments were made regarding Ashla.
Three years ago, Master Koon return to the Order and Coruscant. In the dead of the night, he gave a sample to Master Merglyn Rossik, Senior Healer of the Order and member of the High Council. Master Koon reportedly told Master Rossik that the sample was found in the ruins of an ancient temple in the Mid Rim. He did not disclose any other information regarding the sample or its origins. At the request of Master Koon, the sample was given to Ashla.
All traces of this mysterious poison vanished within moments of the sample being given. Within days, her condition subsided and her mind slowly reverted to a normal growth rate. After Ashla’s confirmed recovery, Master Koon departed Coruscant leaving Ashla in the trusted care of Master Rossik. With a long road ahead of her, Ashla was given the best teachers the Order had. This would help her make up for the years she was stricken. As her training continued, her connection grew stronger within the Force. Ashla became one of the most gifted healers within the Order.
After a remarkable recovery, Master Rossik has scheduled Padawan Marr for her Knight Trails.
