"That's what I was planning on doing yeah." he told her. He watched her and could tell she was taken back about being elsewhere. "Still getting use to not being on Baklid-6?" he asked her. Though he didn't need to. He remembered that look from when he was a child and the first time he visited another world.
Reine — 06/27/2021
She nodded not taking her eyes off of the horizon. The constellations in the sky hung differently. No wonder she never really felt connected to her astrological sign, she was born here and her chart was completely different!
When they had landed she had almost passed out from the lack of oxygen. They had to wear masks similar to those she wore when they went to the ocean on vacation. All of the buildings were pressurized so people wouldn't get sick from the lack of air. You had to wait a minute in a locked chamber while your body adjusted.
"I wish you wouldn't sleep on the floor," she requested only barely looking away from the view. "It looks... Sticky" she said, not even trying to hide her disgust. "Could you come here?" She asked turning towards him. "I do not want to talk to you across the room." Her voice was soft and her shoulders heavy. Was she nervous about tomorrow? About the hunter? Was she just tired or hungry? She wouldn't say.
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
Kaleb walked over to where she was and looked out the window. It wasn't like anything he hadn't seen before. But it was different being with someone that was seeing things for the first time.
Reine — 06/27/2021
She was raw and exhausted. She had no idea what she was going to find tomorrow. She didn't want to put too much hope in it being right. But she was doing her best to prepare herself for the worst. "I know why you did not tell me why you were running off to the marche. But..." She needed to choose these words carefully. He was of a pretty predictable temperament; but, she didn't want to come of as insulting. "I am not a wilting flower. I can handle the truth." She wrapped her arms around herself in a self-soothing action. It was protective body language that indicated meant no insult. "If you had told me that I needed to wear a disguise, I could have told you exactly what to get. I was in drama productions in school. I am not a stranger to playing a character." She smiled softly with a hint of mirth like theater was some sort of high achievement for espionage.
"And threatening me... that if you did not like what I did... you would take it into your own hands?" She sighed placing her hands up defensively but her voice stayed just as soft. "I know you are worried. I know that you have made this vow to protect me; but... I am a person. And there are so very many things wrong with that threat. The first being that there is no guarantee that your way would work and mine wouldn't. A girl's hair," she went on to explain, "is so integral to their identity. It allows them to present themselves to the world how they wish. It gives them a... semblance of control. Do you think that I am immune to unrealistic beauty standards? Because I am not." She chuckled incredulously. She could go on and on about how a person didn't need to have a reason to not like some feature about a person. No matter if it was the person's choice to have their hair a certain cut or color or wear the type of clothes that they did. If someone didn't like it, it was a like a knife to the heart. "So... what I am trying to say is that... just talk to me s'il te plait? I can help."
She softly slid her hands into his. "But... I have realized that I have not thanked you properly for everything that you have done for me. It seems like every chance I may get it is the next day and I cannot remember what happened in the past hours from waking up," she smiled wryly (meta joke!). "Donc, merci beaucoup mon chéri." She kissed his cheeks softly three times, pulling her head away wide enough so he wouldn't try any funny business. On Europa, there were different versions of la bise depending on the region. It would vary anywhere between one and four kisses with some even having a particular handshake to go along with it.
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
"Uhm yeah you're welcome." he told her. "And some of your previous thinking you may need to change. You are on the run now, and to make it worse it's from Jedi hunters. You may have to change your appearance on every planet you visit. And that could eventually mean doing something drastic with your hair." he explained. He took in a deep breath. "Where is it that you want to go tomorrow?" he asked her.
Reine — 06/27/2021
"And I understand that! You just have to tell me." She poked him in the shoulder teasingly. "And if I might need to cut my hair..." She covered the side of her mouth and whispered conspiratorially, "there are wigs for that." And giggled.
Turning back to the window, "I do not know. It is a residence building. I will have to ask the Angel to guide me. Is there any way to find out where all of the residences are?"
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
"If you have an idea of which one it is, I can access the holonet and get the information. That should at least tell us where it is." he told her.
Reine — 06/27/2021
She shook her head. "I did not see the outside of the building. I just know that there was a door to a balcony and even in this dark place there was a golden light that filtered in. The room itself was yellow. It was only one room. Does that help at all?"
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
"Not really." he said. Though in his mind he was thinking 'why is it never easy.' "So let's get a general location of the residences." he said as he walked over to the terminal in the room. It wasn't the best he had seen, wasn't even close. Kaleb sat down and began inputing a request to know where the residental areas were.
Reine — 06/27/2021
She followed him. "It felt like the the window was facing south... but I do not know where south is here." How did a person not know where south was? Being on another moon was wild! "Given that it was only one room that must mean it was very cheap. And... it should be in a neighborhood where hiding a person was easy..." She trailed off.
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
Kaleb nodded as he waited for the information he had requested to come up. He expected this system to be slower than what he was used to.
Reine — 06/27/2021
The terminal pulled up too many listings. Almost all of the residences were in cheap sublets with very little room. This was a mining colony that was not really made for families. They were made for workers to have a place to sleep and rest their heads. Maybe she was misremembering. It was such a confusing vision. "Let me meditate on it. See if the Angel can give me a better perspective." She sat back on the bed, and clasped her hands together, she whispered in her native tongue - almost like she was having a conversation, for quite some time.
Her eyes snapped open. "I was wrong. It is not in the city. Search for..." She was going to have to give up her name. Her actual family's name. Honestly, she was surprised no one had figured it out yet. "Search for all large land properties owned by Phu Cuong family."
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
Kaleb didn't really recognize the name, but then again why would he. He typed in the name she had given him. And sent the request. (OOC: rolled a 22)
Reine — 06/27/2021
"It has to be outside of the city... the north end of the property will be closest to the city," she clarified.
TheTraveler — 06/27/2021
(OOC: Based on the information that Reine has given from her Farseeing and Kaleb's Computer Use, you both have a search grid of about ninety square acres. Due to the location and lack of anything else, this is the very best you can do without actually going there)
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
As the information came up Kaleb smiled. "I think we got it, or at least close to it." he said as he pointed to the location on the screen. He was already grabbing his padd and transfering the coordinates to it.
Reine — 06/27/2021
"That looks to be right..." She was searching the coordinates for any residences but there weren't any markings. "Do you see any buildings?" The building itself was not a residence or not zoned for it. She remembered that there were no modern appliances or running water. The one bedroom building was a ramshackle. Almost like it was a barn before it was a home.
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
Kaleb shook his head in the negative. "From what I can tell this recording was taken about 30 years ago, and it hasn't been updated since. So we're just going to have to go and look ourselves." he told her.
Reine — 06/27/2021
"That is so long ago!" Reine cried. "It is too late to go now. But it looks like we are going to need a speeder to get there. Do you know how we can get one?" She yawned involuntarily.
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
"We'll see what we can find in the morning. If not we'll have to acquire one." Kaleb told her. "You might want to get some sleep." he said after noticing her yawn.
Reine — 06/27/2021
Reine nodded. "Please tell promise me that you won't sleep on the floor. I don't even like that our bags are on it..." she said as she climbed into the bed.
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
"It's that or the chair. And believe me the floor is the better option." he told her as he walked over to where he had put the spare pillow and blanket and got them as he began to prepare the spot he was going to sleep on.
Reine — 06/27/2021
"Stop!" She protested. "You can sleep on top of the covers. I appreciate your chivalry but s'il te plait do not sleep on the floor."
Kaleb Wren — 06/27/2021
Kaleb looked at the floor and then the bed and then back to the floor. "Alright, but only because I don't have time to argue with the committee." he said as he took of his shirt and laid it neatly on top of the small table. It was in better shape than the chair that's for sure. He then got on the bed, with his head near the foot of the bed. he felt it gave him a quicker reaction time if he needed to get to the door.
Reine — 06/27/2021
A blush crept up her cheeks when he took off his shirt. She tucked a freshly dyed lock behind her ear and started to turn on her side to give him privacy when she noticed how he was sleeping. She couldn't hold back the revulsion of his feet next to her head. "Non. I am not sleeping next to your stinky feet." She buried under the covers and popped her head out of the other side. She struggled with the pillow with her feet but finally got it and put it under head. "Bonne nuit!" she told him before turning her back to him to try and get some rest.
