Analyzing the Injector 10/24/2021

((OOC this is after leaving Lanus and BEFORE arriving on Dubrillion with Aneta's body))
Tesara takes the injector in hand after leaving the flight deck, pondering on what Ryan had said. She headed for the medical bay and entered, looking around. She saw the medical droid but had no idea if it was 'on'. "Hello?" She called, still unsure of how to deal with droids.

The Droid set there for a long moment not moving nor speaking. After a bit of time, Tesara located the power switch for the Droid, and right away his eyes lit up.
"Please state the medical emergency.....wait..." he looked around and motioned in surprise. "This is not the Raptured Light! Who are you? where am I?"
He started to move but a buzzing sound from a device on his chest prevented his movements.
"Oh blessed creator! I have been droidnapped! Are you a Mandalorian Pirate. I must warn you, I am familiar in over nine thousand ways to inflict harm on a human," he declared.

Tesara put both hands up it a gesture to show she had no weapons. “No no, it’s okay! I’m sorry I just turned the switch I didn’t mean to scare you! You’re in no danger, I promise!”

He looked around, "easy for you to say." He motioned to the device on his chest. "You don't have inhibitor on your chest."
He tried to move again but the buzzing got louder and he finally gave up. "I must tell you, it is illegal to steal a droid. I am property of the Jedi cruiser Raptured Light."
He continues to take in his surroundings, "if you return me, I am sure the Order will go lenient on you."

She blinked. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” She frowned, peering at the box. “How do I turn it off or remove it?”

He motioned to the tool on a nearby work bench, "that should be sufficient to free my bounds."
He continued, "and then we both can go to the nearest Jedi Facility. I will give testimony to your kindness and personally ask the Judge to consider your actions before rendering judgment on you."

Tesara smiiled in silent amusement as she retrieved the tool and set about removing the box that prevented his movement. “It’s been a while since you’ve been awake.” She said, working at it. “My name is Tesara Anerin. What’s yours?”

He shifted around, "I have been off line for just under thirty days."
He watched her make progress on the bolt. "The last thing I recall was that we were off loading wounded at Austerity Spaceport. The latest battle was a nightmare. I was personally overseeing the on loading of new supplies."
"That was when a skinny wirerly man running up to me. He said that there was an accident and someone needed my help," he explained.
"The man was clearly under the influence of Spice, but I had no choice but follow my programming," he motioned to Tesara, "and now this."

“Oh dear.” Tesara sighed. “Well you are right about the spice. I am too gullible and thought he had honestly purchased you. I’m sorry. Ah. There.” She said, successfully removing the box. “Now will you tell me your name?”

He rose up to his feet. "Now let us leave this place and find safe back with the Order."

“It’s nice to meet you, Heart.” She placed the box on a nearby table. “Unfortunately we’re in hyperspace at the moment on our way to Dubrillion. But as soon as I can, I promise to bring you….” She paused, frowning. “Wherever there is a Jedi temple or academy. But I need your help first.”

He shook his head, "I must advise you that my internal programming prohibits me from work that is outside of the Jedi Order." He held up a finger, "unless such work is in the instance of an emergency and required to stabilize a patient prior to their transport to a medical facility."
His eyes shifted in brightness as if blinking, "is such work a medical emergency?"

He blinks, "because such information or requirement was not relevant at the time. I require no authorization for services rendered in the event of a medical emergency."
He shifted slightly as he rose up to his feet. "However outside of a medical emergency, I am not permitted to render service to those outside the Jedi Order." He held up a finger, "the exception is unless such work is authorized by a Master or above."

Her shoulders slump. “The only Jedi master I know who could officially do this is likely on his way back to Coruscant after leaving Baklid to the ORA. I do hope he made it. Do you know Master Wynium?” She asks, wondering if she would be able to reach him once they were out of hyperspace.

He nodded, "I have a complete registry of all Jedi in my Database."

“Ok. So let me ask you this. Are you allowed to perform duties that are NOT upon a person? I need the contents of this…or what is left of it, analyzed.” She set the injector on the table.

He didn't move to the item on the table. "It is within my ability. However, I require authorization for such work to be done."
He blinked at her, "my abduction must also be reported. I am sure the Order will send a Hunter Team to retrieve me and deal justice to that pirate who droidnapped me."

Tesara paused a moment before responding. "I plan on reporting that you are on our ship when I contact Master Wynium. If he approves, I would like to purchase you fairly from the Jedi Order. If he agrees, then good. If he does not, I will return you to the Jedi as soon as possible. Master Wynium is a good man and I do not believe he would send hunters for us when he discovers we meant no harm. I will have a talk with the person who took you to find out the circumstances." She sighs, glancing morosely at the injector. "For now, this will have to wait."

The Droid blinked, "purchase me," he said in surprise. "I have you know, I have been specially designed and programmed to treat over nine million different conditions to include those involved the special needs of members of the Jedi Order. I doubt pirates can afford a highly specialized model such as myself."

Tesara took a long, slow breath to control her annoyance. It would do no good whatsoever to get upset at this droid. He was following his programming, that was all. "Well, we're not pirates. So you can rest easy there. We work for Lady Ava Forma at Sunco, newly appointed governor of Baklid. As I said, you have been asleep while many many events occurred. So yes, I have access to funds to purchase you IF Jedi Master Wynium would allow it. You will be treated with kindness and the utmost respect for your position until I am able to confer with Master Wynium." She said, turning to head for the door.

H3A4T nodded, "I highly doubt it. And even if you could, I am a Mark V. The Jedi Order would never allow me to remain in your possession."
He turned, "if you wouldn't mind, please show to the nearest ComStation. I need to report this crime."

He held up a finger, "I have an excellent suggestion. We exit hyperspace and send the message. Once the message has been sent we wait for the authorities to arrive and return me to civilization."

Looking around, "you will!" There was clearly excitement in his voice. "I will definitely be telling the Judge of your change of heart and how you helped return me back to the Order."
He tilted his head at her, "for a pirate you are not a bad person."

He stands there, "an Emergency is, an unforeseen combination of circumstances or the resulting state that calls for immediate action. an urgent need for assistance or relief" He looked at her blankly, "is your definition different?"

He spoke with pride, "I told you Ma'am, I am a Mark V!" He scanned the room, "I am not one of those Mark IV field models." He moved towards the table, "I don't understand why the Order keeps those models. Their logic and high functions are all subpar." He turned to her, "did you know that the Mark V's were only produced for six months before the entire line was canceled. We are a rare model indeed. So much more than just impressive. We are state of the art in droid intelligence and evolution."

"Cancelled? Why? It would seem that they should continue making your...model? If you're so excellent. Tell me, can you tell if there are other beings aboard this ship that are alive?"

he slumped his shoulders, "you would think so. However, there were numerous reports of behavioral problems within my line. I suspect that such reports were fabricated by the older Mark IVs simply to preserve their role in the Jedi Order." He motioned around, "I can tell that there is a Human, male. A Bothan human hybrid female, and you. A human female." He then motioned to the twin slights in his nose. "I can process the circulated air and pick up on their scent aboard the ship," once more speaking with pride. "Had we not been aboard a small ship with circulated air, such revelations would be impossible."

Tesara stares at him in genuine amazement. "The Bothan...her sister is aboard. She died from her injuries when she got aboard the ship. I wish I had known you were here and had you at the ready when she arrived." Tesara considers him. "I left someone behind on Lanus that might be very hurt, possibly unconscious. When we return there I would very much like your help finding and treating him." She said, then in a rush "Oh! I mean if the Jedi Master agrees to allow it!"

He motioned with a single hand, "see that would have been a medical emergency that I would be within my programming to assist with. Though if given the proper permission I can also perform autopsies as well. I have been programmed to search for a wide range of pathogens that cause create life threatening situations. I remember one time when two Jedi Knights were brought aboard the Raptured Light. They each died within minutes of each other. It was up to me to find the cause and ensure that the ship wasn't infected. The ship was quarantined for three days. That Ma'am was an emergency."

She smiles a little sadly. “That’ll teach me to go unaware of things aboard the Jupiter One. Maybe I need to search every nook and cranny to find helpful items. Maybe a Jedi master is hidden somewhere!” She chuckles. “But no, your superior senses would have located him long before now.”

He sounded pleasant as he spoke, "I see you are started to realize how superior the Mark Vs really are." He walked over to a shipping container, "if you don't mind, could you bring us from Hyperspace so that we can send that message to the Order. The sooner I am returned to my ship, the better it will be for everyone."

She sighed. “I can get a guess as to when we’ll be out of hyperspace from our pilot.” She opened the door and closed it before he could continue. Groaning, she headed for the flight deck to pester poor Ryan AGAIN.

Tesara looked a little guilty. “Yes but…he’s a little…ummm….bossy?” She fidgeted. “I may have made a tactical error in removing the box. He’s demanding to be returned to the Jedi. He won’t do anything unless it’s a medical emergency until we either get clearance from a Jedi master for him to do non emergencies, or purchase him from the Jedi which he thinks we’re pirates so he pretty much scoffed at me about buying him. I know droids can be reprogrammed but I haven’t a clue and Nova is very far away.” She said all in a rush.

Ryan blinked a moment as he listened to her 'rambling'.
He turned sideways in his chair as he pinched the bridge of his nose, "damnit Tesara."
Turning back to her, "okay okay, we can get a new restraining bolt, not box, reinstalled. Just don't let him out of the hold. He can't cause problems there."
And let out a bit of a laughed, "yeah those Mark Vs are super touchy. But they are worth their weigh, um" he paused trying to think of a good example. "Well anything. Their value is reflected in the fact that the Jedi maintains the only ones in existence." He laughed again, "out side of those that had been stolen from them."
He turned back towards the controls, "and no, we can't mind whip them or even tamper with their programming. It's a built in security feature. If we try, we risk losing everything that makes the damn thing valuable."
He glanced back towards her, "Tesara, just make friends with it."

She cringed a little. "I'm truly sorry, Ryan. I didn't know. But the good news is that I have made friends with it. Once we are out of hyperspace, I can try to contact Master Wynium to see if he would be willing to allow the droid to be used by us. If I cannot reach him I can try to call Quinn and see if he would ask his father. But in the meantime I will continue to make nice with him. His name is Heart."

Mishka merely kept doing what Ryan had asked of her, ears twitching as she listened to them both talk about this droid. "At least you made friend with him, right?" She inquired softly with a gentle smile. "Heart is a nice name."

Ryan nearly came out of his chair at Tesara’s plan, "NOOOO" he said in urgency. "You can't call the Jedi on this Tesara!"
He blinked as his mind raced, "you know they are not the good guys. They will arrest us all over that stupid Droid!"
He turned to Mishka as he was trying to get his runaway heart under control. "Normally it would depend on the Droid. But this particular line is well known for this kind of behavior."
He turned back to Tesara, "listen, you can't tell the Jedi about him or let him contact them."

Tesara's expression turned surprised and then alarmed. "But Ryan I already told him I would! I'd be lying if I didn't! Master Wynium is a really good man, Ryan. I am willing to bed he would allow us to use Heart, and then...maybe we can return him to them and purchase a medical droid that isn't so in demand?" She gave him a hopeful look.

He blinked in equal surprise, "Tesara one doesn't just steal from the Jedi and get away with it! If you call them, they will search in to the, 'evidence,' he said placing air quotes over the word. "And find out we had stolen the Droid." He then turned and motioned to Mishka, "we all would go to jail."
He turned back to Tesara, "do you want to see Mishka thrown in jail, Tesara. Hasn't she been through enough already."

Mishka merely smiled and nodded to Tesara. “I understand. I never really messed around with droids much as I grew up. I was more focused on my books and keeping myself occupied.” She explained before Ryan mentioned jail. Grimacing, the half-Bothan hugged herself. “I would rather not go there, thanks…”

He blinked still pretending to be shocked and hurt, "if the Droid was stolen, it must have been stolen a few weeks ago and I am sure I can come up with, I mean, have a good alibi for that time!"

He shifted to get more comfortably, "it clearly came from the Jedi Order. It really is top of the line. And once we get the restraining bolt back on we won't have issues with it."

Ryan leaned back and let out a long of relief, "well for now, I will go down and hit him with an Ion shot. Then shut him off. That will keep him quiet till we can get a new bolt on him."
He moved to stand then turned to Mishka, "keep us straight and don't hit anything." He smiled as he motioned to vast empty space before the ship.

Tesara looked hesitant. "What happens if the bolt gets removed and he...well, the part of him that knows who he is and who he belongs to, wakes up and then finds a way to report himself stolen? We might have the hunters after us. You two are not force sensitive but I am. This is a dishonorable thing." She looked unhappy.

Ryan frowned, "there you go accusing me." He shook his head, "we don't remove the bolt so he can't report us." He looked at Tesara with a disappointed look, "Durro was all crying over his medical station. So I went and got a medical droid. One of the very best anyone can get. Its not like they haven't been stolen before. So I am sure they are not out looking for him or anything."
He took a step towards the ladder, "I will shut him down and then we will get a new bolt. Once we have that fixed, he can analyze your...injector."

Ryan rests a hand on Tesara's shoulder, "its okay. You screwed up," he said softly. "I will fix it and when we get to Mishka's homeworld, I will fix the bolt problem and everything will be fine. Just trust me," he said softly. "One shot between his eyes and we will put this behind us."

Ryan laughed, "Tesara," he rested a hand on her shoulder. "Its a machine. Nothing more." He put his blaster aware as he continued, "it won't even feel it. It will just shut the Droid down so we can get a bolt back on it."
He started to walk towards the ladder, "I will be right back." He leaped down through the hatch.

Tesara looked anxious. "If he damages it and it's found out we do have it and didn't return it, we could be charged with a crime." She said to Mishka. "I wish I had never tried to find it and turned it on. I just want to know what those chemicals are." She sighed. "I'm still confused about Aneta's last messages to me." She looked at the floor. "And it's upsetting to think that Jack might be alive and I can't help him yet." @Mishka Winlat

Mishka was silent for a long time, unsure of how to answer Tesara. She truly believed Jack was alive, but she also was unsure of the chemical compound in that injector. "We'll figure it out." She finally said after a long pause. "Just trust Ryan this time."

Tesara let out a high pitched, hysterical-like giggle. "Okay that is the first time anyone has ever said that, he would be very touched." She shook it off and looked more closely at Mishka. "You're bringing out something in him we've never seen before. It's a good thing. Maybe if he spends time teaching you, he does less spice." She said a little more quietly, hoping there is no chance he heard her. "Ryan is a good guy at heart but he's terribly addicted to the stuff."

"I noticed." Mishka replied with a frown. "I don't condone him for using it, but the way I see him take it so much...it's not good." It was in her nature to be concerned for others and her instincts told her that Ryan should not be taking so much Spice all the time.

"He's teaching me everything as far as I can tell," Mishka said with a smile on her face. "I'm really enjoying it. I used to read about how to pilot old machines from other planets, but I've never gotten to actually drive anything before. My parents always thought it was too masculine for me." Shrugging, she looked back to the controls.
