This is your new sister Mishka 12/27/2021
TheTraveler — 12/27/2021
This Is Your New Sister, Mishka
City of Milation,
Outer Rim World of Dubrillion
02.15.0683

The speeder ride to Milation, the third largest city on Dubrillion. It had taken, then over an hour to get there.

Mishka's mother turned around with a smile on her face, "are you okay, honey" she asked the five year old Mishka in the back of the family speeder. She smiled with a warm smile, "we are almost there."

The little half-Bothan, Mishka Winlat, grimaced and clung to her mother as that shy nature kicked in. “What if it don’t go right?” She asked in a small voice that could have almost been called a whisper. Ears twitched and her tail flicked nervously as she looked around at everything while still keeping a tight hold on her mother.

The elder human female turned her head to face the elder Winlat, "everything will be just fine. You will see."

He smiled and gave a half glanced nod, "that's right Mishka. I am sure you two will get along just great."

Mishka tightened her small grip onto her mother and nodded slowly. "Okay," She whisper-said to her parents as her ears constantly twitched with nervousness.

The speeder pulled in to the spaceport and well beyond the area used by normal travelers. The Winlat speeder drove to a lone hanger at the far side of the spaceport where a pair of very large armored figures stood by as silent sentinels.

The speeder stopped before a large fancy appearing yacht. Female dressed in business attire stood by the ramp waiting for the family.

She smiled and wave, "Mr Winlat." She paused a moment, "I see you brought your family. Her voice was more of question and surprise than stating a fact.

When they stepped from the speeder and got greeted by the woman, Mishka shrank behind her mother’s legs, gaze looking toward the stranger. “Mommy, who that?” She asked softly, turning her gaze up to her mother.

The little half-Bothan had never been the bravest of individuals so far when it came to people. She could already read books and was working on her writing, could talk to animals and plants like they were friends, but when it came to other people, she continued to hide. The shyness always seemed to prevail.

The woman blinked in surprise but it was Mishka's father who spoke, "this is," he said then stumbled over his words as he continued, "is the lawyer over seeing my last wife's estate."

The woman smiled then turned to Mishka, "that is correct," she spoke in an oddly formal voice. "I am Ms. Ginn Ry'al."

Mishka's mother held her hand out, "that is such a interesting name." The woman glance at first then accepted the friendly jester as Mishka's mother continued, "where is it from?"

The smiled, "my creator."

The answer hung in the air for a moment before Mishka's father laughed, "I see, a religious one at that."

Mishka's mother turned in confusion as she pulled her daughter in closely. "My husband said he was to come here to take custody of his daughter," she asked.

Mishka looked as confused as her mother, tail falling slightly as she took in this stranger. "Creator? What she mean by that?" The child asked, looking up to her parents for an answer.

Mishka's father smiled and waved off the question of the little Mishka, "well yes," he said nervously. "I am here to pick up Aneta."

The woman gave a nod and then motioned to the ship, "Aneta, please come down."

A young Bothan girl walked down the walkway. She smiled to Mishka's father as the woman turned to face Aneta, "Aneta, this you baby sister," the woman turned back to Mishka's father.

"Mishka," he said softly.

"Mishka," the woman continued, "introduce yourself to her."

Aneta walked down the ramp and smiled broadly to Mishka, "I Mishka, I am Aneta. I am so happy to meet you. I just know we are going to be the best of sisters."

There was an odd look that crossed the face of Mishka's mother. Her father spoke up, "Aneta, I know you will be a great addition to our family."

Mishka was very hesitant and slowly stepped around her mother's legs to face the Bothan girl. Her hands fiddled with the fabric of her little dress and she smiled awkwardly. "Hi...I'm Mishka and...happy to meet you." She said after a long moment of awkward silence.

Her father's words did reveal what was going on. It had never occurred to the little brunette that she might have a sister, let alone an older one. This was both exciting and scary all at once.

Mishka's mother held a steady hand on little Mishka as she spoke, "I can see the resemblance," she said though still unwilling to let her guard down around the young Bothan girl. "What happened to the mother," she asked.

"Accident," The lawyer said while at the same time Mishka's father said, "malpractice."

Finally the lawyer corrected, "it was a medical accident."

Her father turned to her mother, "its not polite to speak of the dead, more so in front of our new daughter."

Finally Mishka's mother let her guard slip as the consequences of her question hit home. "I am sorry for my insensitivity."

Aneta smiled and shook her head, "no reason to be sorry. I miss my mother, and I hope you do not mind, but I really am hoping that we get a long wonderfully."

Mishka's mother half smiled, "I would like that too."

Mishka smiled awkwardly, surprised by Aneta's words and the kindness seemed to come from the older girl. "Big sister? You my big sister?" She asked through a nervous squeak, her ears perking up with interest.

It wasn't everyday a kid learned they actually had an older sibling, but here they were, meeting for the first time. Mishka almost wanted to run over and hug her new sister, but she did not want to come off as rude.

Instead, she only bowed her head slightly. "I hope we...uh...get along well."

TheTraveler — 12/29/2021
Aneta gave a nod, "I am sure we will." She pulled a small bookmark off her back, "do you like to read?" She pulled a book from her backpack, "this was the first book I was ever given."

She handed the book on Bothan Biology and Physology to Mishka.

Mishka's father smiled, "why don't you two run off to the speeder and wait for us.

Aneta smiled and nodded, "yes father," she said softly with a pleasant voice.

An excited expression formed on Mishka’s young face as she looked over the book in her hands. Her ears were fully perked up now, tail wagging as she turned her gaze to Aneta. “Thank you so much! I love books!” She burst without thinking, only to blush and shrink into herself a little. It was too late, but she did realize how loud she had been.

When their father suggested they return to the speeder, the little half-Bothan held the book in one hand and took Aneta’s hand in hers gently. Pulling the older sister gently, she led the way back to their speeder. It was not a far trek, but to a five year old it was an adventure with her new sister.

@TheTraveler
TheTraveler — 12/29/2021
Aneta allowed herself to be led, the walk to the speeder was quite the adventure as Aneta spoke, "I am so excited to be living with you guys. When I heard I was going to have a new sister, and a baby sister at that, I was just so happy."

The two girls continued to walked towards the speeder as Aneta continued to talk. "Do you like to cook?" Aneta asked. "I am really good at cooking."

Mishka looked to Aneta with a smile as they grew closer to the speeder. “I’m not all that great at cooking yet. Mommy says she’ll teach me more when I get older, though.” She explained. “How did you learn to cook?”
@TheTraveler
TheTraveler — 12/30/2021
Aneta smiled, "during my lessons, a wide range of skills were taught to me. Cooking being but one." She waved her hand over them, "I was taught that cooking can be an expression of your imagination." She playfully nudged the little Mishka as she stated, "its what separates us from the Droids." She then turned to Mishka, "you're not a droid are you?"

@Mishka Winlat
Mishka Winlat — 12/30/2021
Mishka squeaked at the nudge and looked up to her sister. “Droid? No, I’m not a droid.” She replied with a shy smile. “I…I draw a lot. Mommy and daddy have a few on the walls at home.” Her ears fell down, shyness growing more as they reached the speeder. “What all did you learn?”

@TheTraveler
TheTraveler — 12/30/2021
Aneta smiled and confirmed, "I am no droid either," the slightly older Bothan girl said as she took her thumb and motioned at herself as if proving she wasn't a droid.

"Oh, I learned a lot. I had classes on cooking, mathematics, history, even martial arts, and sword training," she said with pride. "what have you had lesson in," she asked softly.
@Mishka Winlat
Mishka Winlat — 12/30/2021
Mishka climbed into the speeder and motioned for Aneta to follow. “I know how to read and write…” She admitted. “I’m starting school, but it’s all a little confusing to me right now.” She messed with a bow on the front of her dress as she sat down.

“I hear daddy wants me to get into…business when I’m old. I think.” She shrugged.
@TheTraveler
TheTraveler — 12/31/2021
Aneta smiled as she set next to Mishka, "well you don't need to worry. I will help you get ready for school."

She gave a happy nod, "its what big sisters do. As for what you are going to do, its way too early to worry about that. You just enjoy being a kid." Her voice was kind and her eyes were wide as she spoke, "there is a whole new galaxy out there."

@Mishka Winlat
Mishka Winlat — 01/01/2022
Mishka gazed at Aneta with wonder and silent excitement, her ears constantly twitching with interest. "I'll do my best." She replied with a little squeak at the end and gripped the book she'd been given tightly.

"Daddy keeps telling me I gotta focus on future stuffs." She continued, averting her gaze with a slight frown. "Says I'm smart so I gotta do smart stuffs."

Any other five year old would be begging to go back outside and run around like they were supposed to, but not Mishka. She often kept to herself and usually only played outside when encouraged by her mother. Maybe Aneta joining the family was exactly what the little half-Bothan needed in her life.

@TheTraveler
TheTraveler — 01/01/2022
Aneta leaned closer and laughed as she spoke, "well we are both smart. We come from a great father."

She nudged the smaller girl slightly with her elbow, "so we got a lot of smart things to do!"

She pulled the smaller girl in to a hung, "I am so excited to have a little sister."
@Mishka Winlat
Mishka Winlat — 01/01/2022
Mishka was very surprised by the hug, but welcomed and returned it happily. It was even more surprising that Aneta was so kind and friendly, caring even. She had heard other children her age complaining about older siblings always being mean and bossy, but this Bothan girl seemed the total opposite of that.

The little five year old felt blessed.

@TheTraveler
TheTraveler — 01/02/2022
with mother and father back in the speeder, the family started to make their long trek back home. Ahead of them new possibilities. For Mishka, her life would surely change in ways she never before imagined.

And while this chapter is but the beginning, was the last truly the ending?
