It had been some time after they had gotten back to the ship. Astra had taken a shower and gotten clean. But she could not sleep or relax. The Bug and the child bothered her. She paced in her room for who knows how long. Finally she sighed and pulled out her come she sent Tesara a message. " Hay are you up can we talk please"

Tesara is asleep but hears the commlink message beep. She sits up, rubs her eyes and picks it up, reading the message. She writes back. "Yes, I'll be there in a few moments." She sends the message and pulls on a comfortable shirt and soft pants then makes her way to Astra's room. When she arrives, she knocks softly.

Astra answers the door. " hi Tesara how are you" She asked and stepped aside to let tesara into the room.

Tesara smiles a little. “I’m all right.” She folds herself into a nearby chair. “What’s going on? Could you not sleep?” She looks worried.

Tesara relaxes a little when she knows Astra isn’t ill. “Of course it seems wrong to you, Astra. The girl, the one that we saw who apparently was either actually chosen by the storm rider after being released by me or her family is lying, is a child.” She sighs a little. “ and yet for them it is a great honor. For her it’s a great honor. It has been happening for thousands of years this way and will continue on long after we are gone. This is their belief. You may have a moral judgment about it, but I am sure there are things that the Jedi do that they would find horrifying.” She watches Astra as she speaks.

Astra goes back to pacing " I don't know these people are pretty harsh they send their children out in the desert to fend for themselves. The jedi would never do sumthing that harsh. Well, there is the gathering but I don't think anyone has died during that. Goten hurt maby" Astra says thoughtfully. She paced back and forth. The mother in her wanted to try and rescue the child. But the jedi told her to stay put respect the Butler of these people. " how could that child's mother possibly be ok with this it doesn't make sense." She said.

Tesara watches her pace, recognizing how she herself does this when she is unsettled. "Yes, Astra. It IS harsh. But if you grew up here and were taught your whole life that this is the way things are, you wouldn't question it. But you didn't. You grew up on Sorreno, which is nothing like this world at all. The child's mother is likely weeping, yes, she will miss her daughter terribly but this bug chose her daughter. The thing blessed their family with its choice. She will grieve but with fierce pride. My own mother did this, Astra. My family stood and listened to the Yilsaani explain that the only way to stop the demon from poisoning the water was to sacrifice me. They wept, yes. But they believed him and told me they loved me and goodbye. It was ME that decided that was a load of crap and I nearly died anyway." There is something in the tiniest hitch of her voice, but she tries to hide it. "If you are taught to believe something, you believe it."

Tesara considers this for a moment. She isn't looking at Astra, but instead at the wall behind her, remembering the utter terror of watching her own family say goodbye to her. She has buried this memory for a very, very long time.
"I was afraid. I didn't want to be eaten by a demon. I wanted to live my life, fall in love, have babies, be the village Yilsaani and help people. Not die alone and abandoned." She says, and this time her voice shakes audibly. "They let me be led away to be slaughtered." She whispers, then swallows hard. Suddenly her fingers curl into fists. She inhales sharply, pushing the image away. "That is not what these people do, Astra. The means of death....the sacrifice...it's painless. Or at least, that is what I believe I saw. The person is celebrated, given messages for the Spirits, leaves their mortal form and delivers those messages."

" How can they know that they don't just die and that's it" Astra snapped saddened frustration boiling to the surface. She was quick to catch it. " I'm sorry Tesara, its not you I'm frustrated with its this all of this. As a mother I want to rush into the village and I don't know do something a child's life is in danger. But as a Jedi I should respect there beliefs and cutler. But I became a jedi to protect people who cant protect themselves its just ahhhh" She growled turned and punched the wall.
"Oh that was dumb" she said quietly. She looked at Tesara " How are you so calm still, iv been bouncing of the walls inside my head since we learned about the bug. what exactly did you see in your vision" Astra asked.

Tesara remains calm. "It wasn't dumb other than the fact it'll hurt. You just dispersed your anger and frustration on an inanimate object that has no feelings, that's all." She takes a long breath. "You cannot go into the village and do that for a multitude of reasons." She says calmly. "They would see you and your intentions would be writtena all over your face. They would consider it a huge insult and you would likely be killed for it." She shifts in the chair a little. "As for my vision, I saw the past. Thousands of storms, thousands of these rituals, and others. I saw the way the chosen and their families are treated, the way the chosen one is prepared and honored and trained on what to do. No one has ever refused, as it is considered one of the highest honors on this world. Children and the elderly both and everything in between." She stands and takes Astra's hand. "Did you hurt yourself?" She asks, frowning.

" Its just swore I don't think Master would approve" she said with a smile. " I see it still seams wrong to sit her and do nothing you know" she said.

Tesara smiles a little. "You're a Jedi Knight now, Astra. Curse all you want." She turns Astra's hand in her own, trying to determine if she needs help to heal it. "Yes I know it goes against your nature to stay here and not do anything to save someone you believe is in danger. But Astra, even if by some miracle you actually managed to save them, they would hate you for it, they would cry and believe they are forever cursed and likely even try to kill themselves over it. And you'd be killed. So you have to let this one go. These people are exercising their free will here. Whether they actually deliver any messages to the Spirits doesn't matter. Trust that it is as it should be. Don't do like Hadaza and go rushing off believing your own thoughts that you know better than they do."
Her words are gentle but she is also being firm.

Tesara raises an eyebrow at Astra. "I would try to heal it but I think the med bay is a better option. We can see if Hadaza is awake." She says.

Astra notices a brief hesitation on her face. “No, I mean, well…you can heal yourself if you’d rather. I know you have the ability. It’s…. Better than mine anyway.” She smiles but looks away quickly.

"Well we will have to go when she gets out" Astra said a slight shiver. Her issues with bacta tanks still evident. " Poor hadaza i hope she is asleep being Awake in a bacta tank is horifying" Astra added.

Tesara looks obviously distraught at the idea. “I didn’t know you could be awake in a bacta tank.” She looks a little ill. “I can ask Handyman when we can come see her. In the meantime, you should heal your hand before it swells up any more.” She smiles. “Is there anything else you wanted to talk about?” She asks.

"Ok i cant garnet ill get some rest if I'm not here your find me in the cargo bay or Durro's room sleep well" She said with a smile returning Tesara's hug.

Tesara nodded and returned to her room with plans to rejoin Astra later to see Hadaza. For now, she fell back asleep, too tired to give the plaguing thoughts any more attention.
