Lucien "Luc" Enjolras was born on the Lyran Alliance's frigid capital world of Tharkad. Only son of wealthy mine owner Baron von Enjolras, he preferred the company of miners to his noble family. Instead of following in his father's footsteps, he vowed early on to be known for his own achievements by leading the life of a self-made man.

An exemplary student throughout his childhood, adolescent, and teen years, Luc was accepted into the Lyran Alliance's Sanglamore Academy on the world of Skye. His peers admired him for his fiery, patriotic idealism because it was fused with an icy sense of both discipline and purpose. Luc graduated from Sanglamore Academy with honors at the age of 22 years. Recruited by the Lyran Intelligence Corps, he was preparing for a mission to New Earth as 3060 neared its completion.

Possessing of handsome patrician features and a high forehead, Luc's complexion and build were reminiscent of a chiseled, white marble statue. His eyes were a bright, clear shade of blue and his fair, wavy hair hung just above his shoulders. The way he proudly carried himself together with his boyish mannerisms had a tendency to give one the impression that he was both a strong man and a fragile youth. Off-duty, he wore mostly black and white, save for glistening brass buttons on a blood-red jacket.

Luc stood under a gazebo that overlooked the tomb of New Earth hero Colonel Jake Death. Since his arrival on New Earth, he had attempted to discover whether this man, this legend was truly dead. There was no evidence to indicate otherwise. However, after learning the transformative role Colonel Death had played in New Earth history, one could hardly be blamed by thinking him to be nearly immortal.

Nonetheless, this tomb was universally accepted as his resting place by the population of New Earth, including Colonel Death's daughter and sole survivror. Kimiko Tetsuhara Death. Since her arrival back on New Earth last week, she had made no less than four visits to her father's tomb. Each visit involved a carefully orchestrated effort by Death's Brigade and capital police to ensure that she could mourn privately at her father's tomb.

Luc was here today to meet with Kimiko, alias Alizee Blanchett. To build trust, he would reveal to her that he knew her true identity. For Kimiko's safety, he could not risk entities outside of his Lyran Intelligence Corps team listening in to their conversation. It was for this reason that Luc had decided he would need to silence his personal communicator's mic. If the opportunity to confer with his CO on this matter had presented itself before today's meeting, he would have requested authorization. As XO, he had no choice but to trust that he was trusted and proceed with his plan.

Luc checked his chronometer for the dozenth-odd time. In just over an hour she would arrive. He straightened his jacket and tie and combed his fingers through his wavy hair again. He had been forced to admit to himself that he had feelings for Kimiko which were beyond his ability to dismiss. Ignoring his feelings would amount to self-deception, which he considered a liability born of chaos and confusion. He would not be subject to such an undisciplined and volatile state of mind.

At the same time, he could not simply give himself over to love. He could not afford the luxury of a conventional romance. Therefore, he would do his utmost to keep his feelings for her in check. After all, he had to remain focused for the benefit of the Lyran Alliance. Kimiko could be the key to preventing a second Lyran invasion of New Earth and the accompanying bloodshed. He would fulfill his mission, thereby doing his duty to the Lyran people and thus himself.

Mission Report: Agent Lucien Enjolras
Lyran Intelligence Corps
Capital City of Wiedergeburt
Independent World of New Earth
Week 3: 2330 December 10, 3060

Week 3 of my mission to New Earth has found the world in a state of political turmoil and upheaval. One of our own, Agent Ethan Gammell, lost his mother, Baroness Gammell, in the emotionally evocative bombing at the Royal Seven hotel. Duke Peter L. Kilt is demanding justice for the assassination that is, is my estimation, erroneously blamed on New Earth militia. President David McGray's days in office are numbered. Plans to oust him have been set in motion, giving way to a new opportunity for change.

The brightest rising star on New Earth's political stage is Kimiko Tetsuhara Death, to whom I am assigned and tasked with winning over to our cause. Over the course of a prolonged attempt on her life, I secured her trust against all odds. No sooner had I eliminated her would-be assassin (a lethal exchange in which Kimiko herself was injured), CyberDrone troopers swarmed the scene. CyberDrone was founded by Kimiko's mother, Karen Tetsuhara Death, and its forces are well-equipped. Troopers administered first aid to Kimiko and, after discharging a slug-thrower round into my thigh, CyberDrone operatives returned me to my team as a "civilian casualty." Before I lost consciousness, I witnessed three Vertigo VTOL combat craft armed with dual medium lasers and SRM-6's, each capable of transporting up to thirty well-equipped troopers.

Given the subsequent outcome of these events, I was able to leverage myself into a favorable position with her protectors, despite being made as a Lyran operative. In exchange for low-grade intelligence on our forces, I have learned that the separatists who would resist Lyran occupation are dependent on the return of the 1st Army of New Earth for their defense. I remain confident and unwavering in my assertion that a second invasion will ultimately prove unnecessary. When Kimiko inevitably becomes President of New Earth, I will be there to assure her cooperation with the Lyran Alliance for the benefit of both our peoples.

RE: Lucien "Luc" Enjolras
The Harbor
City of Eamonn, Island of Ebrahim
Continent of Sagittarius
Independent World of New Earth
1800 December 24th, 3060

On Christmas Eve, Luc watched the sun sink against the western horizen and recalled the events that had led him back to Eamonn. On the evening of December 23, Luc had spoken with with Luzia Nagel over a secure net connection and arranged extraction of Ethan Gammell, who was about to be set upon by the Pathfinders. She had informed him that this made them even, and repeated her favorite threat about the world of trouble he would find himself in if he ever hurt Kimiko Tetsuhara Death. He had established a solid, if somewhat stormy friendship with the caustic woman.

He thought back to the last conversation he had with her in person. She had hinted that a powerful ally would assist New Earth in the event of another Lyran invasion. Regardless of how unlikely it was that she would divulge any more information than this, Luc had, as always, tried his best.

"Who else can New Earth count on for defense?" he had asked her.

"A powerful ally," Luzia had replied. "The Lyrans are not the only power in the region."

"Certainly not," Luc had responded. "However, you have given me the impression that New Earth intends to avoid making Faustian pacts from here on out."

"Let's just say that if the Lyrans think that the first invasion was bad, just see what happens should they return," she had said, adding, "That goes for others also, not just the Lyrans."

"Understood." he had said. "But if a power is generous enough to let New Earth remain independent, what is the price?"

"Price and allow? You speak as if our independence is a matter of question. My friend Luc, when Katherine Steiner Davion murdered her mother, our independence became a forgone conclusion. The price was paid in the blood of Melissa Steiner Davion. The rest is more failing to accept reality on the part of the Lyrans. Look around, Luc. Feel the energy around you. That is nationalism and pride that these people have earned. Do you really think they will be subjected again?" Luzia had asked.

"It does a soul good to witness such pride. It is the energy of a people who will not be slaves again," Luc had agreed.

With a nod, she had said, "Nationalism is a powerful thing that can sweep a person up like a great current and move even the unimaginable. What I have seen here during the past ten years is the growth of nationalism. This didn't happen overnight. It built upon hard fought victories against the Clans, the Combine, and now the Lyrans. I warned Central that an invasion would be the worst possible move the Alliance could make. If they failed, New Earth would never return. If they would have just waited out the movement then there would be a chance. Now a movement has been transformed into a full-blown revolution that now threatens other worlds. This mess is something that Tharkad created due to its own arrogance,"

Luc had nodded, his eyes sad and distant, "The Lyran Alliance must experience a revolution from within. New Earth will act as a barricade to stand up to the corruption that has led us to dishonor."

Luzia had given a slight nod to convey her understanding and agreement. "Now if you could just take this up the chain of command and tell Central," she agreed. "However, you won't be the first to try."

"Is that what happened to our missing operatives?" Luc had asked.

She had laughed. "Is that what you were told? Missing operatives? You act as if New Earth was incapable of locating and capturing them. Trust me, those 'missing' operatives were dealt with. These people are not completely helpless." He couldn't tell which, but Luc detected reticence or deception in Luzia's voice.

He had smiled, "I'm more aware of that day by day," Luc had answered truthfully.

Presently, Luc had tasked Ethan with investigating the Summerhaven bombing. Although he had called off the raid on the New Earth Advanced Technologies facility on Pisces, Luc had ordered Viktoria Model and Angela Witherspoon to remain undercover to investigate ComStar's presence there. He had brought Amelia with him to Sagittarius to assist in reaching Kimiko. Although Luc hadn't told her, Amelia was also with him he had genuine concerns about her mental stability. Besides claiming to have seen an apparition just before the Summerhaven bombing, something was just off about her…

RE: Lucien "Luc" Enjolras
Room 215, Wyatt's Motel
45 Kilometers Northeast of Balitor
Central Island of Aries
Independent World of New Earth
2300 January 1st, 3061

Luc stepped out on the motel porch and breathed in the frigid night air. Amelia's questioning of Sergeant Cunningham of the 1st Skye Jeagers had been nothing short of masterful. Not only had he learned the names of potential suspects as a result, he had learned a great deal about the tactics and strategy of the New Earth Defense Force, or NEDF.

Luc recalled the day's events with a smile. Finding time alone with Kimiko Tetsuhara Death was nothing short of impossible. If he didn't know better, Luc would think himself a prisoner under guard. Finally, he found a moment alone with Kimiko and seized the opportunity to ardently pledge his loyalty to her should she come to lead New Earth in the coming months. Understandably, Luc was having a difficult time proving to her that he was not just another Lyran spy, but a man of principle. When masked Militia arrived with intelligence for Luzia Nagel, it wouldn't be long before he would come to realize that he had begun to make headway after all.

When Luzia showed Luc photographs of his team at the Terran Alliance Museum and a doomsday device, she accused him of withholding information, and it was all he could do to contain his frustration. He'd gone out of his way to help the Separatists; was this the trust he'd earned? That was only his first impulse, and it wasn't long before Luc's rational mind kicked in with a healthy dose of logic. Why should Luzia trust him? Actions would speak louder than words, and Luc would prove himself true.

Of course, when Luzia confiscated his personal communicator with the admonition that his team was nothing but trouble, he knew that this was going to be a hard sell, and it wouldn't be sold today. Kimiko emerged from the hotel room in which they were staying, passing Luc his com and handing him her keys. Ensuring that Brandy would be waiting for him at her hotel, he and Amelia climbed to the roof and took off in Kimiko's shiny red sports VTOL. They picked up Brandy and made their way to the museum.

Amelia managed to pick off the 1st Skye Jeager security detail from the air. Her sniper skill was uncanny. The three made their way into the museum, and a battle ensued. They managed to get the attention of the terrorists, drawing fire away from their wounded teammates. In a maneuver that was equal parts brave and foolish, a maddened Luc broke cover and made a running attack, killing one of the 1st Skye Jaegers that was a threat to his wounded CO, Captain Douglas MacAllister.

When the dust cleared, Luc and Amelia disappeared with the sole survivor among the terrorists, Sergeant Cunningham. Brandy stayed behind to help explain how the victory had been possible to the local authorities. With Sergeant Cunningham bound, they locked her in Kimiko's trunk and made their way back to the hotel. Leaving their prisoner in the trunk, they returned to the balcony and found Kimiko. With her permission, they borrowed her vehicle once more, leaving for the motel at which they now found themselves. Luc was grateful for Amelia's company, but his heart longed to stay by Kimiko's side. Did she need him, or did he need her?
