Act One, Scene One

[Akirapryde]

Ensign Hedril turned to face Increase and listened carefully to what he had to say. She smiled at his series of questions, "My father would say never plan out your life" she answered. She never thought beyond the moment of what she was doing. Sure she had goals in her life but she never really planned out her career. Instead she set mile markers for her life and judged her life off of those markers.

She thought for a moment as she blinked, "Sometimes this form of communication is hard for me. The meaning of what I wanted to say simply didn't come out right" she corrected. "Allow me to correct that. I create points in my life where I want to be. This is what my father teaches me. To create points. If we reach that point than you have achieved your goal. If not, then you need to explore if this is a better place than where you expected to be."

She thought a moment, "I am where I desired to be. This ship and its mission will bring it close to my homeworld and that will mean more often chances to visit my family. As well, there is much uncharted space near our patrol zones. This will ensure that I have a chance explore many more different forms of communications."

She waited a moment and than asked, "tell me Lieutenant, why did you choice to be part of this project. The Thunderchild Project was completely voluntary. So why are you here?"
