RE: The Light is Always there
"I'm a forward and pragmatic person. Definitely seems aggressive to most and I should probably work on that. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone because that just leads to the excuse game. Instead, I was hoping to look at what happened so we could apply what we learn to make future missions safer for the crew. What I liked to tell my crew on my last job was, 'It is better to have the asshole who's got your back than the nice guy who lets you die.'"
Cox knelt down to look Gadeon eye to eye, put a hand on his shoulder, and spoke with a softer tone, "I'm glad Duncan made you leader. I'm also glad you accepted me as your 2nd in command; I think we will complement each other well. I think I'll learn a lot from you and maybe I can show you a few things too. We are definitely making progress as a crew. I'm still new here, but I will share the little that I've observed."
"I think Duncan should be our mission leader for any military or covert operations. He's got the experience and the crew trusts him, plus he seems to out-think every situation that has come his way. I think we should pair up Ashla and Bay as a scouting team. Between his droids and her ability to sneak, I think they can scout pretty much anything. Plus, I think Bay needs to get to know more of the crew. I think Jaden and Ni would make a good overall team. They seem to respect each other and between the two of them, they can handle a wide variety of situations. I think you and Unna should be a diplomatic team. Both of you seem to be adept at politics and the care that is required to be effective at it. As for me, I'd prefer to support everyone from a communication hub where I can put my skills to good use."
"I suggest teams of 2 here because it will force everyone to depend on each other rather than being lemmings following a leader or just acting on their own. We will need to change these teams over time both to build trust across the entire team and to suit our missions. Obviously, whether we do this or something else is entirely up to you and I will respect whatever decision you make."
Cox was lost in thought for a moment trying to recall everything Gadeon had said, "Oh, yes, about the hacker. I agree that we should bring it up to the group and I'd like to be the one to bring it up. I can practice leading crew discussions under your supervision so that we are better prepared should I need to do so in the future."
