The Boss Man (Round 2)

Duncan really didn't know exactly how much time had past by the time the two had finished. He was still laying on his back with Ni in his arms. "I hope that reward was worth waiting for?" he asked with a bit of humor in his tone.

[Gar]

Ni folded her arms over his chest and rested her chin there, looking down at him with an expression of glowing satisfaction. "You have more stamina than I'm used to expecting from humans," she answered matter-of-factly, "I have to admit--it is pretty impressive." The Zeltron rolled over next to him, laying her head on his arm to stare up at the ceiling. "And I was pretty surprised that you decided to take control, but I'm not complaining," she added with a playful giggle, turning her head to look at him with her usual, impish smile. "It was rather refreshing, actually."

[Duncan_Starchaser]

"Well you were trying to help me by taking my mind off things, so I wanted to make sure that you enjoyed it as much as I was." he explained as he adjusted his head just enough so that he was able to look at her.

[Gar]

Ni's smiled grew at this. "Always the gentleman, aren't you?" she teased, turning to her side to cuddle up next to him. "Well, Boss Man, if ever in the future you need to take you mind off things again..." she slowly reached her hand out to trace a finger along his jaw and lower lip lightly, "I'm always here to be your pleasant distraction." Ni offered him a playful wink with these words.

"I'll consider it, as long as you realize that this isn't something that I expect or demand of you." he said as he pulled her in close as she tried to cuddle so she could get as close as she wanted. It had been a long time since he had let someone in like that and it felt good.

[Gar]

"Such serious words--consider! Expect! Demand!" chuckled Ni giddily, her emotions still riding on the high that the past few hours had induced. Her stray finger now traced the side of his face and lightly twisted his hair. "You have the cool head of a leader, though sometimes it can make you a bit like a stick in the mud," she raised her brows pointedly, though the amused gleam in her eyes made her intentions known, "How do you feel about leadership, Boss Man? Can you let me in a little, tell me why you now shy away from leadership after being in command for so long?"

"So many people have died because of commands I've made. How many more will die because of me." He told her though it may have sounded more like a question. "Besides the group didn't really need me, you all got Takin without me." He added.

[Gar]

Ni couldn't help but smile at the similarity she noticed. "You Starchasers really like to punish yourselves, it seems," she commented, her eyes roaming over his body, "Part of the burden of leadership is responsibility, but there are more factors involved than just your commands..." the next question was asked in a soft, sensitive tone. "So...whose blood do you have on your conscience, Duncan?" Ni gently laid her head on his chest, listening to his heart beat as she waited for his response.

He knew what she was true. He always felt as if he was carrying the weight of the galaxy on his shoulders. But it was only recently that he was finally beginning to understand why. "Every arc trooper that I lost while in command of the 10th division. Every life that I wasn't able to help because of this war that according to the Chancellor is between the Jedi and Graf's forces and we're not to assist." he told her.
