Status quos are made to be broken

Ni shook her head quietly and looked to Gadeon, waiting for his reply. The expression on her face was very telling. She feared for him.

"The danger that Gadeon would face as a member of the High Council is no greater than the danger he currently faces." Duncan said over the coms. "We have for whatever reason been thrust into positions neither of us really wanted. The only thing we all want to do is make some sort of difference in this life. This maybe a path for Gadeon. He has often talked to me about his disatisfaction with how the Jedi act, perhaps this a way for him to fix that. As a member of the High Council he would be able to help begin the the easing of tensions. As well as be one of those that set policy for the entire Order. The problem with the Order is similar to that of the Republic itself. There seems to be a failiar to listen to each other and ultimate control has bee given to a privilaged few. Gadeon isn't privliaged and as such could be a voice of reason on the council as he as been for us."

Gadeon seemed to have resolved to something, but wanted to say nothing until he heard from Duncan and Ashla, it would not be right to say anything without hearing from them first. That was, after all, why he had called them all together.

[Ashla Marr]

Ashla had been in deep mediation when she heard her communicator going off. She answered it, seeing it was Gadeon. She remained silent as Gadeon informed everyone in the communication a choice he had been given.

"I agree with the others. While I think you'll make a great member on the grand council, I don't think now is the time to act on it. Not with the Jedi order in its current state. Another opportunity will most likely show itself when the time is right. But if it's something you want to do, I will support you in your decision."

Gadeon listened to the two tilting his head within the fighter. He could hear the fear in Ni's voice, just barely three over the coms. Then there was Jaden, he seemed to see things through different eyes, but he was often split. Duncan had more confidence in him than he had himself. Then Ashla, she had faith another opportunity would open for him, but he felt that such would have seemed more right to him if.

"Can you explain what you mean about it not being the right time." He wanted to know her reasoning, what it was that lead her to thinking things would get better.

[Ashla Marr]

Ashla thought for a moment and said, "Biggs and Unna both had visions about Coruscant being attacked. While the chancellor has some good views she is also corrupt in her own way as well as some in the Order. I believe you could work to bring balance and reshape the order in time, but at the same time there is a chance you get caught up in the war we are supposed to survive"

Ashla took a long pause and continued, "I don't think that it's the right time because the way the Order is right now. Sure it probably will never be like the Order I once heard about in stories from the teachers at the refugee camp, but I think that in time maybe we can create our own that's more in balance."

Gadeon took a few minutes to consider things as the others all fished. Duncan had faith in his ability to make a difference, but both Ashla and Ni were both unsure about it. The corruption they thought was more than he could change. It took a long time, and the com was silent. "Where I am seeing things now is it is doubt of ability to affect change on one side, along with fear for my safety against and the chance that I may be able to help the others to choose a path to reform themselves. It is not that they are blind to, and It is something that I put a good amount of time into considering. I think there is a real chance that I can succeed. I wanted to speak with you all to see if there were any other sides that you saw, and I appreciate what you have said so far, all of you. "Do any of you have strong feelings when it comes to this matter."

The whimpering on the other line, which could only be Ni, was Gadeon's answer.

Gadeon frowned when he heard Ni, but only a moment of it before his voice came out. "Ni, do you remember what I told you on Coruscant, what you could be for your people? I asked you to put yourself out there. Do you think that I would have any lower hopes and expectations for myself? I will not give in to worry or fear of what might be. I never wanted to be a leader and when I tried to step away from the politics the force guided me back to it. I would like to tell you you do not need to worry, but in truth I am worried as well, but it would not be right to let others suffer for naught but worry or fear."

[Gar]

There was a long silence, then Ni's tear-choked reply, "Ok, Gaddy..." and then a click, as Ni's comm hung up from the group channel.
